We went to La Viruta with some friends to get the atmosphere of Argentinian music and dance. We ordered food and drink and some of our friends danced , then at about 10 pm the Tango started and we were all urged to join groups...More

This place is for tango lovers. No matter your level, you can take tango lessons. Then after the classes are over, you can stay up until 4AM watching the locals dancing as professionals. Get dinner somewhere else, the food there is not their specialty

Entrance was 180 pesos per person on Saturday. Ambiente is nothing special but the (beginner) tango lesson was fun.

It's not a very glamorous place. It's just a basement, food is horrible and you not gonna get a good cocktail (stick to beer and wine - also, it's cash only). But it's true that's this is where "average people" come to dance and learn...More

There are classes for all levels and not just tango, but salsa (rueda/casino), bachata and rock. Check their website for the classes schedule. You pay just once and can take all the classes of that day and stay for the milonga.

No need to book, however we did email ahead to check on timings of classes. You pay on the door - very cheap from memory!

I think you can dance with whoever you want as long as you tell your teacher that you don't want to swap the partners . It's common that everyone circulate and swaps parents during the practice .
