I was lucky enough to find out about Tuk Tuk stellies before our trip to SA and it was really good, my partner and I had a Tuk Tuk and driver to ourselves who was really knowledgeable and took us to some great wineries. We did Tuk Tuk Stellies on the friday and the stellenbosch wine tram the day after and I have to say we both enjoyed the Tuk Tuk stellies trip more than tha wine tram. Such an excellent way to see the wineries and we loved it!

This was a fantastic day! Our guide picked myself and four friends up in his tuk tuk from our hotel at half 9 and took us around 5 different winery’s. All were different and a fantastic way to taste the wine of Stellenbosch. The tour included a lovely lunch too! The day ended at around half 4. Fantastic value for money.
I would highly recommend going on this trip and was one of my highlights of my trip to South Africa!

We had booked the full day wine tour, but unfortunately due to sickness we changed to a half day. The gentleman I spoke to was very accommodating and more than happy to tweak our tour to suit.
A lovely bubbly lady picked us up, she was very enthusiastic and keen for us to have a great time. We visited Simonsig, and they offered a very generous cheese plate.. the wines were lovely and very generous with the quantities!!
We then moved on to our next stop and had another tasting with some very unusual pairings, but worked exceptionally well. The young man who presented the wines was superb and clearly very passionate about the wines.
Unfortunately my husband felt unwell so we decided to go back to our hotel , as not much fun wine tasting if you feel ill!
The guide was so understanding and I hope that we will be able to return to Stellenbosch to complete the tour, as what we did do and see was very enjoyable.
I am not sure I would be able to stand up if we had visited 5 vineyards!! They are all very generous with the quantities given 🤪😀

VERY DISAPPOINTING. I had confirmed my reservation a month in advance, they even confirmed the meeting point and hour. We arrived and waiting 15 minutes, nobody came. We finally called them and they said there was a "misunderstanding" and they had forgotten about us.... I understand everyone makes mistakes...but it wasted our time, we had to book a last minute wine tour with another company... very unprofessionnal of them!

Hi Isabelle
We are extremely sorry for the mixup last Friday and we take complete responsibility for this. We have been operational for 4 years and this is the first time something like this has happened. In my apology email to you we have offered you you a complimentary full day wine tour. I know you are probably not in the area anymore, however this is a standing invitation. You are also welcome to give this invitation to a friend visiting Stellenbosch.
So sorry again for us being tardy with this booking, it will not happen again.

We just retourned from our trip with Cornelis and it was really wonderful! Cornelis knows everything about wine and he is a great guide. The day was perfectly organized so we did not have to worry about anything.
I would recommend this tour to everyone who wants to see the winehouses on a special way.

I did this tour with a group of 7 other friends during our holiday in South Africa and it was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the trips. We did the wine tram tour the previous day In Franschhoek and this one was hands down the better experience. The time allowed in each vineyard was relaxed which meant we could enjoy the experience in each one and didn’t feel rushed at any stage of the day. While the novel means of transport was great fun. The guides were really well informed, and were great to answer any questions we had whether about wine or South African culture in general. Couldn’t recommend this day out enough, whether you are in the Stellenbosch region or even if you need make a short trip to do it!

So I want to be fair and start with the great experience we had as the 2 adults in our party of 4 We had an amazing day wine tasting and like all the other reviewers would give this 5*.
The trouble was we booked with 2 children aged 8 and 13 and paid 950 South African Rand per child. We did this as we were told the children would do chocolate tasting with lunch and snacks throughout.
What they actually got was 3 pieces of chocolate each and 3 soft drinks across the day. To say I was feeling taken advantage of is putting it mildly.
On our second wine stop I requested they have a scone from the bakery at the vineyard which our guide paid a few rand for.
At the lunch the children had dry bread from a cheese and meat board as there were no options outside of this for them to eat.
At the 4th stop we paid for some milk shakes for them.
If you are going to charge 950 rand for a space on the tour then you need to provide the 300 rand of wine tasting costs on services for children and not just pocket it as profit.
We would normally tip but on this occasion only paid the 4K rand.
It is hard and I have waited to write this review because I want to be fair. Great for adults but not a great deal for kids....too limited and you are ripped off on the cost for what they receive.

Hi Edinburghtwoplusone
Thank you very much for your reply and for the kind words regarding our tour.
I would like to take this opportunity to clarify the costing structure as I did on the email when you originally booked.
We normally charge R1000pp for a full day wine tour. We can then put 6 adults on the vehicle. This cost is for a registered tour guide to take you out for the day and give you a wine experience including lunch and pairings.
If there are children on the tour we have to make it a private tour to accommodate you. This is why we have to charge children full price also, you are paying for the space on the vehicle that another adult could have taken.
Wine tasting is an adult activity, we try to accommodate everyone as much as we can. On the wineries things like milkshakes and burgers are very limited, we try to give the kids as much as is available.
We appreciate all feedback and will look at a family package that will accommodate children a bit better.
Regards

Read lots of glowing reviews before embarking on our wine tour - they were all amazing . As a group,of six we were not disappointed one bit as the day exceeded our very high expectations . A fantastic way of starting our South African adventure . The wine houses are amazing and Yassium is so informative and a great host . Thanks also to Corne who helped make this experience so good with the organisation .
Thoroughly recommended way of seeing some stunning parts of this amazing country .

This was the highlight of my 3 week trip in SA.
Our guide was extremely well informed and he took us to 5 wine estates over the course of the day.
We didn't feel rushed at any point and the timings were perfect throughout the tour.
The selection of wines available and the different pairings of chocolate, cheese and biltong made it a new experience for me and the group I was with.
I can't recommend this highly enough, and I think it is excellent value for money.
When I return to SA I will be returning to Stellenbosch and i'll be using the Tuk Tuk's to visit 5 different wine estates.
The Waterford Estate was beautiful, as was the Glenelly.
Thank you for an excellent day!
