I had a magnificent round of golf here a few days back. The course, while wet because of the torrential rain in Stellenbosch, is in wonderful shape, with a good variety of holes. Good practice facility and very walkable. I am a lefty, and the club staff provided me with top-notch Titleist clubs for a reasonable rate. This was unexpected and much-appreciated. The staff are eager to help, and I loved my experience. Tough, but fair course, and stunning holes.

we have played there many times and love the course. In the restaurant of the golf club you get very good pizzas, and if you want something better then reserve a table at the restaurant "Kleine Zalze", which is also on the premises of the estate.

We have played De Zalze several times over the years but the cost of the golf and the greed of putting too many players on the course has put us off. The first round we played this year was chaos- no buggies despite booking them (the buggies that were out for the early rounds didn’t get back due to slow play so delayed everyone). We walked (and carried) the first 3 holes as we were promised they would send a buggy out which the did after 3 phone calls to the pro shop. We played as a 2 ball which is stupid of the course as we were so much quicker than the four ball in front of us we waited on every hole. So slow and frustrating - sending groups out on top of each other which is horrible for everyone. We decided to play 2nd time really early - 7.16am - 3rd group out. Still a complete nightmare - slow play from the group in front meant we waited on every hole again and despite our speed they wouldn’t let us through. If you like expensive but very very slow golf then play here if not there are cheaper alternatives (Stellenbosch is great) - sadly we won’t be back.

First visit to De Zalze golf course, I wasn’t disappointed. Golf course was well kept and beautifully scenic. Ralph (caddie) was incredible, very knowledgeable about the course and surrounding area. I would highly recommend him.

We came to SA for 7 days to play golf, and played on 4 different courses. This one was definitely one the best we played on. To start, as we did not bring our golf clubs from Australia, the hire clubs were more or less brand new, clean and the set was complete. The buggy are state of the art, the grounds are pristine and well maintained, the staff are friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our game, and decided to have lunch on the 19th hole. Very efficient, very good service. I had a pizza, which was really, really good, but my eyes were bigger than my stomach and we should have share, however James had a burger, and no room for pizza. Great golf, great club house, great pro shop! I wish I had one club like this at home.

Set in the most perfect surrounds especially if you are a golfer. Staff is friendly and service helpful. The restaurant has decent fair BU few choices and the pizza is excellent. Give breakfast at the lodge a miss.
The room at the lodge is more suited to a prison.
One small window and a drab grey cluttered clausterfaubic room. The room is tired, the door don't close properly and the basin combo is falling apart.
No worth it, stay at the Protea.

What a great setting with a view. Perfect place to eat after a great round of golf. Not very crowded, which makes it very covid friendly!

Being a bit pricey for holiday golf we booked a tee time at De Zalze through teetimes. When we checked in at the pro shop we were very disappointed with the welcome we got and thought this might have been because we weren't playing the full green fee. It annoyed us but we decided not to let it spoil our day and thankfully it didn't. The course exceeded expectations. It had a challenging dog leg opening hole and all the holes that followed were good. The course was in excellent condition and a joy to play. Would recommend.

Hi Sarah
best to go straight to - Winelands Golf Lodges or De Zalze Lodge. Both have websites and make direct bookings. Both are independent of the golf club, which does not offer accommodation.
