Dorp street is the hub of Stellenbosch. Its lined with trees. It has restaurants, bars, shops, office blocks and accommodation.
I have visited about 4 different restaurants on Dorp street and every one was worth the visit.
If you a tourist please visit and support your the local businesses.

We parked in Blom Road, opposite Rhenish Church. It is a short walk along Market Street to Dorp Street. There numerous interesting buildings to see as you wander along Dorp Street, or why not stop for coffee or lunch at one of the cafes. As you near the end of the street turn left up Drostry and head for the interesting Illage Museum. Continue along Plien Street back to the car.

Dorp Street is the oldest street in the picturesque town of Stellenbosch. Walking down this street, flanked by some of the oldest and most beautiful buildings in town, is like being transported back to the eighteenth century. Old oak trees provide shade in summer (when it can get very hot). Be sure to bring a hat for a summer visit, because there is a lot to see! In winter, you may encounter rain, so bring your brollie. Apart from the numerous eateries or coffee shops, where you can mix with the locals, you can pop into the toy museum, or the old timer shop, Oom Samie. Walking down the entire street may be a bit much for older visitors, so maybe choose which section you would like to do. The top part, near the church, is more for lovers of architecture, while the lower part has more eateries. Park your car in one of the nearby car parks and explore this interesting Stellenbosch street by foot.

Dorp Street is one of the main thoroughfares in Stellenbosch and the one with the most interesting architecture. Some beautiful old buildings to visit and to view.

There's plenty to look at and enjoy on Dorp Street. You can visit Oom Samie se Winkel, which is a cool store. Plenty of parking.

We always gave Stellenbosch Town a miss as we never liked it. This time round though we ended up on Dorp Street and were pleasantly surprised. As it turns out we had never been there but will return now that we know. In that area are a few streets with lovely shops, cafes and restaurants. The buildings are nice and well kept, it is very leafy and clean. Well worth a visit!

This street together with others in close proximity add to the charm of Stellenbosch. Shady oak trees line the street and coffee shops, small arcades, curio shops and elegant clothing stores make wandering along this street most entertaining. Some of the buildings boast beautiful cape Dutch type architecture so photo opportunities abound

The town is a treasure chest full of culture treasures to be enjoyed by all. The museums , the old buildings , the trees and parks . The food and wine - Ah there is absolutely nothing negative about the town . . . Oops - whatchout for the speedlimit signs . . . .they are not so visible as you wanted them to be. . . The people are friendly and the food . . . Devine !

Absolutely the best place to be in Stellenbosch. Bright, lively, lots of good shops for everything from tourist presents to high fashion restaurants and bars to choose from

Dorp Street is home to many coffee shops, historical buildings and excellent restaurants. We went for lunch to a coffee shop called Blue Orange. They have parking and excellent food. The decor is a mix of old farm house and quirky and it's an excellent spot to relax and enjoy a good meal before heading off to explore the rest of Stellenbosch.

Hi!
I'm just arriving at Stellenbosch. It is Friday afternoon and I am only for the weekend. I'd like to know what is the best time to visit many places, like historic buildings, considering that it will be Saturday and Sunday.
Also if you can give me other places to visit, I'll be apreciate it very much.

Yes I agree, if you have a car, also go to Strand, not far away and walk on the beach and take photos.Wineries are also great.

Hi! I am considering spending New Years in Stellenbosch with friends (we would be staying just around the corner from Dorp Str). What is it like on New Years? We are in our early thirties, so not exactly looking for a student vibe, but something fun! Any suggestions would be appreciated :)
