A visit to Lanzerac – the official home of Pinotage – is not complete without a wine tasting and guided tour of the acclaimed wine cellar. Visitors to the Lanzerac Tasting Room are able to experience our distinguished wines in the comfort of a relaxed setting. Enjoy a guided tasting by one of our knowledgeable Wine Advisor’s in the well-appointed Tasting Room, or on the verandah overlooking the vineyards with breath-taking views of the valley. The Tasting Room is open seven days a week and offers visitors a selection of informative tastings and pairings to both challenge the palate and complement the award-winning wines. Cellar tours run daily at 11h00 and 15h00. Wine experiences available: 1. Jonkershoek Tasting - Select 5 wines to taste from the Jonkershoek Range 2. Wine & Chocolate Tasting - Enjoy 5 selected Jonkershoek wines paired with 5 handcrafted chocolates 3. Heritage Tasting - Taste Lanzerac’s Heritage Range, a collection of 3 flagship wines and the CC Blanc de Blancs Brut.

This is a wonderful place that is made even more precious y their staff. Thanks to Dillion and Domnique. All staff took care of our every need, including dropping us off in the town a couple of evenings for dinner. Wine tasting included in the rate was also a great experience. Breakfast includes buffet and a menu for various hot items. The atmosphere and the surrounding are great. Our bathroom floor was heated, and the bathroom has an opaque roof on the top.
The only minor issues was an exit sign that stayed on at night so the room wasn’t dark enough.

We stayed in this hotel for a few nights whilst touring the wine regions. Our room was very well appointed near the spa and small pool. It was very spacious with a large bathroom including a bath and a small terrace. The hotel was quiet whilst we were there and some aspects of customer service were lacking as a result. We went to the small pool but there was no-one at the pool bar in spite of us calling to request one. The breakfast was pretty good, we ate dinner once at the hotel but load sledding that night made it a bit of a drama and we were served cold red wine twice, not what we would expect in a vineyard. The staff were very friendly but I didn't really feel like they went out of their way to look after us as much as the other hotels we stayed in South Africa did.
There is a 'complimentary' tour of the cellars and wines but our guide was rushed and not that interested which was a bit disappointing as it was obviously one of the things that we had come for. The bars/outside restaurants were busy with guests and people doing wine tasting and we left feeling that the hotel's priority was the visitors for the wine rather than hotel guests. A very beautiful colonial looking hotel with great rooms and impressive interior but not there with the levels of customer service that we received elsewhere.

I recently visited Lanzerac with a group of friends on a Sunday morning for brunch.
We are all Stellenbosch locals and had fiercely debated the topic of the best scones in town. I consider myself somewhat of a scone connoisseur and had previously not voted for Lanzerac, which prompted us to re-visit this location.
I was made to eat my words. Literally.
The scones were fantastic. The service was exceptional, the management was attentive despite packed restaurant. Specifically Melandri, impeccably dressed and friendly on arrival.
I really am a purist when it comes to scones.
I’m a simple man.
A good scone with strawberry jam. (And ONLY strawberry jam) with cream and quality butter.
I can truly say Lanzerac scones delivered on all fronts.
A delectable brunch was had.
I’ll certainly be back again soon.
Also did I mention you get TWO scones when you order!? What even.
If you like scones, and want good value, great service and the best jam/butter/cream combo.
Then THIS is your spot.
Give it a go. You wont be sad.

We visited Lanzerac Wine Estate for a wine tasting, which was held within their Deli. They offer three tasting options: the standard yet high-quality Jonkershoek, a Wine and Chocolate Pairing, and the premium Heritage range. We decided to go for the Jonkershoek range where we could choose 5 wines from the range which includes Rosés, Whites and Reds. During our wine tasting, we decided to grab some platters. They have a couple of different ones to choose from, and everything we tried had a nice spread, was tasty, and one platter is definitely enough to share between two people. My daughter also tried one of their gourmet milkshakes (no kiddies options available), but I think they are a bit too sophisticated for younger palates. For our tasting, we made sure to make a reservation, which was completely the right decision. The Deli, inside and outside, was packed. Unfortunately it did feel a bit overcrowded sitting in the Deli. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable about the wine, but due to the overwhelming number of guests, service was a bit lacking. We noticed other tables facing similar challenges. Overall, the wine and food were enjoyable, but the Deli atmosphere detracted from the wine tasting experience. I also recommend Lanzerac manages the number of guests to improve service quality and the cramped feeling within the Deli.

A little bit of a disappointment unfortunately. The little store as you enter the restaurant on your right is lovely. We were seated to the left near the back of the restaurant The restaurant itself is in desperate need of a good refresh. Everything from the walls, tables, chairs etc was old and a little dilapidated.
The food and service were very average.
Definitely won’t be returning.

This was by far the best of the 3 wine tastings we did during our SA trip. It was a cold, wintery day and the cosy tasting room at Lanzarac was the perfect place to spend the afternoon. Generous wine servings, a charming and informative host, an excellent cheese platter and a cellar tour. Great vibe and everyone was clearly having a good time.

The most amazing two night stay over last weekend. The service and politeness from the all the staff (even the gardeners!) was outstanding. Cellar tour and tasting was lead by a very knowledgeable young lady.
Room was incredible, as was the room service. We even had our room and bed sprinkled with rose petals for our 50th wedding anniversary! ( a return to the same venue fifty years on)
The food was outstanding. Had the rolled pork twice! Tea and scones in the deli was delicious.
Could go on and on.
A well run, well managed establishment all round.
Well done Lanzerac.

We went for lunch and wine at the Deli and our experience was exceptional. Service was outstanding, friendly and professional, and our meals and wine were excellent. Hearty, wholesome, appealingly presented. My elderly parents were assisted where necessary, with such kindness. The deli store is beautifully stocked with wonderful gifts and take-home 'goodies'. We purchased some wine, salad dressing homebakes - all of the best quality and flavor. A lovely day in magnificent surroundings.

Had such a lovely day at Lanzerac yesterday. We tasted most of the wines, all being incredible but would highly recommend the Chenin Blanc.
Our Waitress, Hilda, was so attentive and friendly, explaining all the wines so well. Nothing was too much trouble!
We will definitely be back to soon.

15 years ago I used to work with a guy called Bertus in London.... and so to meet again in the fantastic Lanzerac Wine Estate was brilliant!
The attentive and informative Monique was right on her game as we drank a selection of 5 reserve wines and ate two superb platters of steak.
The grounds are amazing, the location as good as anywhere and the wine - well that wasn't bad either.
