Spier is one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa, with a recorded history dating back to 1692. Spier's winery has won multiple awards in recent years, including Producer of the Year (Mundus Vini, Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show 2011). We also performed exceptionally at the 2011 International Wine and Spirits Competition (five Best in Class Gold medals and two trophies), and were the top performing SA winery at Concours Mondial de Bruxelles for three consecutive years. The Spier cellar has ISO 22000 certification, is Fair Trade accredited, organically certified and follows the Integrated Production of Wine (IPW) criteria.

Spier remains a must do when in Stellenbosh. The atmosphere was lovely and although the restaurant was busy, the service was excellent.

Absolutely brilliant. Neither my wife or I had ever been on a Segway let alone off road yet we need not have worried as the pre tour training was provided with care, humour and a great deal of patience. Maurice and Dillon were both exceptional...More

We eat at the Hoghouse, after visiting the winery to look at the Eagle Encounters. We had a good look around at the local artist selling their wares. The sourdough was the best in Stellenbosch. They serve a selection of Braai Meats by weight which...More

Pretty, but nothing special. If you are short on time, I would skip it. The whole estate looks nice, it’s just the flair and atmosphere that is missing. Our tasting was rather ordinary, no passion.

I have always considered Spier to be too touristy and have tried to avoid it - but have been 'forced' to go there on two occasions and I am very impressed. From now on, I will definitely recommend it to anyone. What makes it unique...More

The wine at spier disappoints me , as being in a wine capital of Africa the quality is not at all at par with smaller wine farms around spier; maybe that's what happens when you go big and run it without the passion .More

Spier is the ultimate always busy experience and we tend to avoid the mainstream wineries but have to admit we had an enjoyable tasting and must say the MCC was one of my ultimate favorites. Ample parking and large open spaces

A picnic at Spier Farm is really great. We got even luckier as the day was a bit windy and not hot at all. We did not book and walked in around 11 am, purchased everything we needed from the store (cheese, marinated olives, already...More

This is a great Vineyard with many things to do. There is a winery with wine tastings, two coffee shops selling wine, cakes and rolls where you can sit and have lunch. There is also a very good market selling African memorabilia. I had a...More

There are many driving companies there for this reason! Or if you book the place we were in, you can walk to 3-4 wineries.
