Spier is one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa, with a recorded history dating back to 1692. Spier's winery has won multiple awards in recent years, including Producer of the Year (Mundus Vini, Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show 2011). We also performed exceptionally at the 2011 International Wine and Spirits Competition (five Best in Class Gold medals and two trophies), and were the top performing SA winery at Concours Mondial de Bruxelles for three consecutive years. The Spier cellar has ISO 22000 certification, is Fair Trade accredited, organically certified and follows the Integrated Production of Wine (IPW) criteria.

Beautiful hotel rooms on a lovely wine farm. We ate at both eight and the Hoghouse- both delicious. Segway vineyard tour well recommended, especially as it features wine tasting. Wish we could have stayed longer

We had an excellent experience at the Spier wine estate. Excellent everything, very professional, real pleasent staff, very professional. As a tour director with more than 30 years of experience all over the world. I've stayed at every level of accommodation on this planet. Spier in my book is right up there amongst the best. Owned by the descendants of former slaves, this is a must on any tour of the Cape wine lands. Book a pic in in advance to relax on blankets and cushions next to the lake. Excellent staff and management. Good food. Great raptor experience.

What a fantastic vineyard and winery. We opted for the signature tasting and we were not disappointed. The server explained the wines well and was very informative. The grounds are stunning, after we wondered happily through the grounds, we opted for a spot of lunch at the Hogshead. Fantastic simple, but perfectly cooked n served food. A superb way to... More

We had a wine tasting session with friends and enjoyed the merlot. The Shiraz was great as well but was drawn to the subtle taste of the merlot. The food at Spier complimented the wine

We visited as a group of 4 to taste some wine. Only 2 of us were wine drinkers so we opted for the wine and chocolate tasting so the other members of our small group could enjoy chocolate whilst we tasted wine. It worked really well, but we had an extra portion of chocolate to share so we could taste... More

Stayed here for 3 nights and loved it! Such a beautiful place! Wine pairing was really enjoyable and the gentleman who delivered the session to us was very knowledgable! The restaurant was beautiful and all staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful! Our favourite part was the picnic, enjoying the food and wine whilst sitting on a picnic blanket... More
