Great Wine, Great Views, Average Service
We came for a wine tasting. The service was good and we understood the wine advisor with her notes. We were satisfied with the service until an extend. But I just want to raise a few points. We were informed that when we do need anything from the wine advisor that we need to call her when we were seated (Bongi). The attentive service was missing for quite some time until we then decided that we need service or that we needed our advisor at the table. Which should not happen. The wines were really good and we loved your beautiful farm.

Great option for non wine drinkers
Pleasant gardens. Good tasting experience in a nice setting although the server was rather pushy in suggesting we buy wine. Special mention for the fact that for kids/non drinkers you can do a grape juice tasting, a nice touch.

    Nice Spot
Did a lot of research as to which winery to do a picnic at. This one had great reviews. The food was good but felt that a winery picnic should include wine. We bought a bottle separately but felt we would have happily paid a bit more if it just included it. It would also be nice if the picnic areas were a bit more secluded or picturesque.

    SPIER IS A WINNER!
Wow!!! Greeted by well trained staff, took the whole experience to another level...the Cuisine,Flavours of the food, presentation etc was excellent. So much to see and do at the wine farm. Beautiful manacured gardens enjoyed by families having picnics on the lush green lawns. The artisan ice cream stand was a 🏆 winner . Shops Galore for great gifts. Don't miss the interactive singing stones, what a pleasant surprise. I'll be back for the delicious "saltlick"& wine 🍷 tasting on my Next visit... can't wait.

Sad it’s not 5 stars this time.
Wine tasting experience set up so well. Beautiful surroundings. Lovely tables set. Very well thought through wine tasting packages. Platters delicious. Well educated, courteous and knowledgeable wine sommelier / server who served us. A credit to Spier for hiring this lovely young man. Everything I expect from Spier with 20 years of visiting. However too many greeters & managers & behind the counter people (supervising, monitoring and administering) and not enough servers “doing” the table tastings & serving meant the chap was looking after too many tables outside and inside at the same time. Ourselves and another one table had building frustrations. Sorry Spier not the best I expect from your brand.

Spier Wine Farm is a beautiful and large estate with wine tastings, restaurants, curio shops, and various other activities available. I recently visited for a wine tasting at the tasting center and can definitely recommend it. The tasting center is beautiful and modern, with both indoor and outside covered seating options that provide great views of the estates natural beauty. The range of wines available is quiet large, catering to both budget-conscious and premium wine enthusiasts. What really impressed me was the consistent quality of the wines, ensuring that you're likely to find something you both enjoy and that fits your budget. They even have a kids tasting available, consisting of two grape juices and a packet of wine gums. My four-year-old daughter enjoyed it very much and felt like she was part of our tasting experience. While our only hiccup was a bit of a wait upon arrival, the friendly and welcoming attitude of the lady who ultimately conducted our tasting more than made up for it. To cap off our visit, we grabbed one of their cheese platters, which had a nice spread and was very tasty. Overall, the wines were good, the tasting center was beautiful, and the staff was friendly, except for the wait time when we arrived. I recommend that the staff be more aware of new guests arrivals.

The management and staff were rude, unaccommodating. Siya, especially. Would not let me finish talking before rudely interrupting and I had a international tour group with me. Lost out on sales. As I was promoting the 21 gables. What a shame

We could not believe our eyes when we were shown to our room! All of this just for us… beautiful room, setting with a veranda with the river bubbling by. We went on the on-site Segway tour - absolutely worth a try - a great way to start our 2 day break here. Then on to the Fantastic wine tasting - cheese also to die for. I’ve never stayed at such a beautiful place. Staff are so friendly and customer focused too.

I visited the Spier Farm Cafe/Bistro with a friend. The view and the farm were, as usual, looking beautiful.
The experience at the Cafe, however, wasn't so special.
We decided to order a bottle of white wine and a bite to eat. We were sitting at the tables at the bistro (ie not picnicking).
I was surprised that despite buying the wine, we were then expected to BUY the glasses to drink it. That is like going to a restaurant and being asked to buy the plates and cutlery. What?!
When I raised this with the manager, I got an indifferent shrug and a 'so what' response. Spier can do better than this!
If theft of glasses is a concern - ask for a deposit. Adding 50% to the price of the wine by selling the glasses to drink it smacks of opportunism. What a pity.
The food was tasty - but served in bags at the table without crockery or cutlery.
Nice - but definitely not good or great.

This wine-farm is owned by the same people who own Nandos. Calling it a famiy-run business is disingenuous it is a very commercial operation.

Great wine tasting experience in a large group, beautiful grounds, and great local products from nearby townships. Would definitely recommend a visit.
