About
Spier is one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa, with a recorded history dating back to 1692. Spier's winery has won multiple awards in recent years, including Producer of the Year (Mundus Vini, Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show 2011). We also performed exceptionally at the 2011 International Wine and Spirits Competition (five Best in Class Gold medals and two trophies), and were the top performing SA winery at Concours Mondial de Bruxelles for three consecutive years. The Spier cellar has ISO 22000 certification, is Fair Trade accredited, organically certified and follows the Integrated Production of Wine (IPW) criteria.

Had an amazing time at Spier doing their Seaward Sip & Soup Tasting. Delicious wines perfectly paired with tantalising soups. Highly recommend that everyone gives this one a try and be sure to ask for Chrizelle. Her obvious passion for the wines she serves is infectious and she really makes the entire experience both interesting and highly entertaining. She really is an asset to the estate. She is very knowledgeable , attentive and has excellent people skills. We will definitely be back to try the Spring pairing offering.

Better service, glassware must be cleaned, room service was poor, food was cold, floors were dirty. Not coming back anytime soon.

Unfortunately, not a great stay. House keeping was terrible. Bed not made, linen not changed after a lengthy stay, dirty glasses not removed from room. Rooms are over priced for what you get, out dated, paint on tiles in showers and not value for money. Staff around the hotel were friendly but meals are terribly over priced as well. Friends who had booked in complained about water pipes making a terrible noise when neighbours used their taps.

A lovely setting with a river and large lawned area to relax and walk around before getting down to the serious business of wine tasting. Plenty of nice wines on offer with snacks like a cheeseboard.

We did a quick pit stop visit on our way to lunch at Jordan. I came here around 7 years ago and it was more peaceful and delightful. We did a quick premium tasting. We noticed they stock at Waitrose in the UK so have since enjoyed a bottle or two. More commercial here but none the less a great visit and professionals serving were so knowledgable. There’s a climbing frame area in the far distance for kids which is always nice and I understand they do a kids juice tasting.

Lovely place to stop for lunch. Not the cheapest, but tasty and delicious with no wastage. Small tasty dishes and attentive service.

Stopped here for the chocolate/wine pairing. Service was very friendly and knowledgable. I really loved the gift shop. I had been looking for a cheeseboard to bring home to remember our visit in Stellenbosch and I found a great selection here (with equally great pricing!) Looked like a big winery area for picnicking, etc, but we were short on time. Very nice!

The most amazing family wine farm in Cape Town. The service, food, pools, rooms and the whole estate are just perfect
We spent 4 days but could have easily spent a week.
The wine farm has everything you need on it, a good restaurant, a nice farm shop, playgrounds, walks and an amazing kids club where you can drop kids without having to book (the dream)

Well done Spier! We will be back
