Something fun, but something different
Jan 2021
Polkadraai Farm managed to turn something simple, like picking strawberries, into a fun and memorable outing for families or friends looking for something fun, but something different to do.

You’ll find the big lush strawberry fields about 30 minutes from Cape Town – driving towards Stellenbosch on the N2 or N1 national roads.

Polkadraai Farm offers various activities to keep the entire family happy and entertained, but strawberry picking is the main attraction! Filling your bucket with strawberries can take around 30 minutes, but it all depends on the size of your bucket and how quickly you can find ripe strawberries.

You do not have to pick strawberries while visiting Polkadraai Farm. You can choose only to use the Food and Wine store to buy estate wines, dried fruits, jams, or other things from their extensive range of other delicious treats. You can also choose to have lunch at the food court while your children entertain themselves on the playground. There are also other child-friendly activities like tractor rides, pony rides, and mini-golf (at an additional charge).

A fun outing for the entire family
Jan 2020
A place with loads of fun for all to enjoy - you can all do strawberry picking together, there are pony rides for the children, there is a play area for the children to entertain themselves on and there's a large open grass area and seating area where you can sit and enjoy your strawberries or just have a picnic. Definitely a place to go on a beautiful sunny day.

Frustrating visit with terrible service
Jan 2020 • Family
Very frustrating visit. First we were told that strawberry picking closed at the end of December, even though the website says end of Jan. We were told we could do tractor rides though. When we saw that there were strawberries in the fields we asked again about picking and were allowed to pick. We also paid for tractor rides, which we were told started from 9.30am. We picked strawberries just fine, but then waited till nearly 11 for the tractor ride. Staff were unfriendly, unhelpful and didn't seem interested in helping. Very frustrating experience with two excited going children. With clear information and a smile or two, it would have been lovely.

Barely any strawberries
Dec 2019
Spent a good 2 hours in the hot sun looking for strawberries along with my husband. It was tiring and we ended up leaving with each of our smallest sized buckets only half full, with really small strawberries and most of which ended up being rotten by the end of the day. We paid R40 for each bucket, total of R80 which was not worth it. I was quite disappointed.

Fun Activity for the Family
Jan 2020 • Family
As advertised, upon making payment you receive a bucket and then get released in the strawberry fields.
About 40 min away from central Cape Town (350 Zar by Uber each way), and a nice scenic drive later you will come across a great family activity away from the busy city. It is a fantastic way for kids to get closed to nature and away from their screens.
The farm also offers pony rides, tractor rides and miniature gulf.
- Tip: Don’t forget to pack sunscreen and caps as it gets pretty hot under the southern Sun.

Strawberry picking
Dec 2019 • Family
Great family outing even on a cloudy day. Picked the freshest and sweetest strawberries. Plan this at the beginning of your trip to have time to actually eat the strawberries since we had to travel woth buckets of strawberries and had to throw away plenty.

A great experience for young children
Dec 2019
Took my nephews who are 4 and 3 to this farm on our recent trip to Cape Town. They loved every bit of it, so much so that we had to go once again before we departed. It's really a great few hours spent out in nature. I wouldn't recommend the food court - the quality of the food looked below par. Also, if you are a group, you will have more strawberries than you will know what to do with, so make a plan for sharing them however you can. Overall, one of the most different things we've done and worth it.

Perfect family outing place
Dec 2019 • Family
I visited this farm with my children on a Sunday afternoon. They had an amazing time picking the strawberries and they really enjoyed that experience. Also the highlight of the day was the pony ride they took as an activity which they enjoyed very much too!!! It was a breather for us as parents also just to sit on the lovely green grass while they played around throughout the day. This is going to be on my favourite places to visit as family!!!
