Break Away
Nov 2020 • Friends
In need of an escape . . . ?

This quiet little wine estate with its protected valley, Zebra, Wildebeest and Springbok is ideal. The Zebra Lodge is quaint and well appointed - with great scenery and a fire place to take away the evening chill on a rainy weekend

Comfortable stay and delicious wines
Oct 2020 • Family
We stayed at the Sebra Lodge for a few days. Very comfortable and spacious. Conveniently located just outside Stellenbosch. The tranquility of sitting on your stoep whilst looking at the animals and mountains is priceless.
We visited the winetasting room a few times during our stay. The ladies presenting know their stuff and are super friendly. The wine is worth a taste for sure. And the flatbreads make the visit all the more fabulous.

Visited Remhoogte in March. Lovely wine in a really stunning setting, with zebras and sprinboks close by.

Very relaxing time
Mar 2020
Another typically lovely wine estate. The wines were lovely, the staff friendly and knowledgeable and the setting beautiful. They have a wildlife in the paddock, which we watch as we drank. Don't drink too much or the zebras stripes will play with your mind lol

Worth a Stop if you are Nearby
Mar 2020
This was the first stop on a 3 winery tour. The countryside view with the animals and mountains from the tasting verandah is superb. We tasted 3 wines and they were very good, so good one of our party ordered a case of one of them.

Excellent wine tasting experience
Mar 2020 • Couples
We had never tasted their wines so we didn't know what to expect. What a super experience. A lovely setting made for a good atmosphere. Their wines were outstanding and the young lady - Kungeka - made it all such fun. She certainly knows her stuff.

Nice small Wine Estate
Feb 2020
Got the hint from the information center in Stellenbosch. Very nice and tiny place, very good wines. Not overrun by tourist - secret hint

Exceptional service and wine tasting by Elsebe
Feb 2020
We booked and went on a Wine Tour with Peter Gouws and we were very happy that he introduced us to Remhoogte Wine Estate. The setting is so beautiful, with the mountains in the background and the game drinking at their dam.

The tasting was conducted by Elsebe and she was so friendly, passionate and had an amazing sense of humour! We loved the wines and I am usually not a red wine drinker but bought a bottle of Chronicle Cape Blend from Elsebe at the estate. I was raving to a friend about our discovery and Elsebe, and so he bought me a bottle of their Sir Thomas Cullinan Reserve 2015, which I loved so much that I bought a bottle on route back home from the Airport last night.

Thank you Elsebe and Peter for an amazing experience. A true gem of a find!

Wildlife & Wine! Highly Recommended!
Jan 2020
Remhoogte is pretty special place!
They have a winery, game reserve and self catering accommodation all on one estate. There are 3 cottages (Zebra Lodge, Zebra Cottage & Wildlife Retreat on a Wine-Farm) that accepts guests. They offer free wine tasting for guests who are staying on the property.
I stayed in Wildlife Retreat on a Wine-Farm for 1 night during January 2020. It was an unforgettable stay. The room is very tastefully decorated and the views was amazing. It was really cool to see Zebras, Springboks & Wildebeests strolling by!
There is a fan but no AC. It was surprisingly breezy & cool at night even when I visited in summer.
There is an electric kettle, microwave, toaster & fridge in the room but no stove so it may not be ideal if you plan to cook.
NOTE: There is no restaurant on site or nearby. I took Uber everywhere since I don't drive.
It would be perfect if they can serve food or have a restaurant on the estate!
