A very beautiful setting that made for an outstanding afternoon of lunch and wine tasting. We were greeted with a complimentary glass of Chenin Blanc before being shown to our table. Food was delicious, prepared with the freshest of ingredients of the highest quality outstandingly prepared and presented. Adding to this culinary delight was the excellent service we received from Chris and Lerato who went the extra mile to look after us to make sure we were happy.
Afterward we enjoyed a wine tasting sitting on the balcony taking in the beautiful views of the valley while the very knowledgable Vela briefed us on the farm wines.
All in all a special visit to a top class wine farm, will definitely be returning.Highly recommended.

We were a group of 9 guests, visiting from Austria and keen golfer, therefore a visit to Ernie Els was on our priority list. Booking via email was easy and immediately. It must have been one of those evenings where weather gods speak to kitchen gods - and magical was created.
Perfect sunset and seating outdoors on the wind still ( very seldom ) veranda, followed by friendly and knowledgeable service staff who served one of the best meat offerings in the 3 weeks we were visiting South Africa.
If there is one thing to mention - I know EE is a red wine vineyard - the lack of white wine choices. During those really hot days we'd like to start with white wine and we were missing them on the list.
Well done, team Ernie Els

Following a morning of wine tasting, it we were off to South African golfer Ernie Els Winery Restaurant for lunch. This was another eatery highly recommended by our guide, and we certainly were not disappointed. The building itself was quite impressive: a charming open-plan space that extended out onto a spacious terrace, offering us incredible views of Stellenbosch and the Helderberg Mountains (pictured).
The cuisine was quite hearty, made with a host of fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. My Roasted Butternut Squash and Goat Cheese Feta Salad, for example, came replete with an intriguing cashew nut praline, baby leaf greens, pickled onions, and was finished with a first-rate citrus dressing. My traveling companion was perfectly satisfied with her Roasted Local Vegetable & Pecorino Tagliatelle, and Samson had nothing but praise for Beef Filet. An excellent glass of Chenin Blanc proved the perfect complement to my salad.

Located in a beautiful wine valley, this winery sits high above the surrounding area affording amazing views of the countryside. Service by Reghardt was knowledgeable and professional; his wine knowledge is impressive, and he was an exceptional host.
We tried both tasting flights and the premium vintage within our group. Each of us had different preferences, but we found all to be delicious.
This tasting was a beautiful experience blending scenic inspiration with lovely wines.

I booked online and chose a table inside. When we arrived we were shown to our table that was outside. I asked one of the waiters if it will be possible to move inside as the weather forecast showed wind and colder temperatures. That was my reason for booking inside. We were moved inside, but sadly directly over the entrance glass door. Waiters and guests kept leaving the door open, which I understand is a challenge. But it did create an ice cold breeze to blow over the entire table. The food and wine were both great, it was disappointing to book in advance and select inside but the table was reserved outside. Perhaps a layout change of the table for the colder days?

It was a warm welcome at the winery. An excellent service (Roxanne) who responded to questions and easily allowed a comprehensive wine tasting. It was my eighth winery in the region and besides the rosé, I was particularly fond of the red wines. Maybe that was also because I was allowed to taste vintages 2017 and 2018 here, which were no longer offered in most wineries, although these vintages have only just completed their proper development period. Overall a treat and then also at fair prices with high quality. Gladly again

A beautiful restaurant with an amazing view and an appealing menu. Unfortunately, my main course wasn't really amazing. If it's offered, I like to eat meatless, but I've never been served anything so monotonous. Roadsted cauliflower for R 220.00. A whole cauliflower was served with some garnish and no other side dishes. The starters and my partner's fish dish tasted very good.

Excellent quality of Service! The waiter was always quick responding to all our needs and wants. He was very approachable and we had a honest conversation.
Lunch was amazing the quality was aswell on point.
The 2018 syrah was not my favorite of the Estates Wines I tried, but since every taste is different it really doesnt matter!
Thank you for having us, we will definitely come again.

We went as friends to celebrate our friend's 30th and new job opportunity and Ernie Els went above and beyond. The beautiful lady, Kelsey Anne that was assisting us was amazing. Her service was out of this world and we've been to many wine places and we just couldn't stop raving about the service and experience of Ernie Els. I'm definitely coming back again. It's worth every penny and more. Thank you once again Team; keep up the amazing work. 10 stars !

Just returned from an unforgettable visit to Ernie Els Wine Estate in South Africa. The highlight of our experience was the private tour led by Louis Strydom himself. His expertise and passion for winemaking were evident throughout the entire experience.
Louis guided us through the estate, explaining the vineyard's unique terroir and meticulous winemaking process. His knowledge was impressive, but what made the experience truly special was his warm hospitality and willingness to share personal insights about each wine.
The tour culminated in an exceptional lunch that Louis graciously shared with us. The food perfectly complemented the estate's wines, creating a harmonious pairing that enhanced our appreciation of both.
The wines themselves were outstanding - elegant, balanced, and distinctively South African. The estate's setting is equally impressive, with breathtaking views of the surrounding vineyards and mountains.
If you're visiting South Africa's wine country, Ernie Els Wine Estate should be at the top of your list. The combination of world-class wines, stunning scenery, and the possibility of meeting passionate professionals like Louis Strydom makes this one of the best wine experiences in South Africa.
Highly recommended for wine enthusiasts looking for an authentic and premium South African wine experience.
