An excellent private collection of S African painting and sculpture in a cool and quiet environment, plus powerful sculptures and pictures by Käthe Kollwitz.

The Rupert Museum is most probably the best kept secret of Stellenbosch. It has wonderful collections of South African art is a tranquil setting. If you want to escape the tourist rat race of Stellenbosch and want an hour of tranquility this is the place to visit.

We had a nice time walking around the place but our experience got so much better when we joined one of the tour groups that walked into the place. apparently you can take a tour guide to take you around Stellenbosch. The guy has given so much interesting information on sculptures and pictures that made us completely amazed.

An upmarket venue for art lovers. A must see. A good, tasteful collection of South African masters and other artists.

The term "museum" is, in my opinion, totally incorrect! It should be referred to as the 'Rupert Art Collection' gallery for that really is, what it is! The expansive venue is magnificent - both architecturally & landscape-wise - & easy to locate (almost an extension of famous Dorp Street, away from the CBD side of town). Even though I'm not... The art lover will find this museum fascinating, but if you are only interested in art you may find yourself walking a little bit faster though the museum.
