Just amazing
Apr 2021 • Friends
The staff impressed us beyond words. They know their animals, talk to them like best friends and truly are passionate about them. This is an experience not be missed. Take out the extra funds, if possible, and get a personal encounter. This is truly unforgettable.

An NPO with a Deep Love for Birds of Prey
Jan 2021
A visit to Eagle Encounters is a wonderful way to get real close to some of the most amazing birds of prey! Allow yourself at least an hour to walk through the park and enjoy all the beautiful birds.

They also have bird shows during the day. Phone ahead or visit their website to confirm the times of the bird shows.

I also recommend a personal encounter with Leo the Black Eagle. These personal encounters are charged separately, but having a photo of yourself holding a Black Eagle gives you some serious bragging rights :)

Fun, educational and caring
Nov 2020 • Couples
This was such a great experience. The men and women that run and volunteer Eagle Encounters are passionate and caring about these wonderful birds. There are many different animals on site, including impressive vultures, cape fox and porcupine. The flying presentation that happens at set times throughout the day is a really fun experience (and I’m talking as an adult). The staff are knowledgable and extremely caring for the animals. We will definitely come again. 💙

Interesting bird park on the Spier estate
Feb 2020
While we stayed at the Spier Hotel for one night, we visited Eagle Encounters rather by chance. The bird park is home to several species of birds of prey but also owls, foxes, snakes and other animals. One has the possibility to experience most of the animals very closely.
It should be noted that the animals in the park are brought here injured. They are either cared for and released or they stay in the park because they were too badly injured.
Definitely worth a visit - informative and exciting!

Why not!

You get up close to a lot of Zebras and Ostriches in South Africa. Even do the big 5s.. but this was unique. Up close and educational. Must do with kids

Surprising Activity
Dec 2019
We decided to visit Eagle Encounters as we were staying at Spier and are certainly glad we did.
It doesn't look like much from the outside but the staff and volunteers make this place really stand out.
There are plenty of opportunities to get up close with the animals (not just birds) and the staff have a real passion for educating visitors.
Its priced really cheaply which concerned us initially before we went, but its really good value and coming from Australia a similar experience would cost 2-3 times as much.
I would definitely recommend a visit if you like animals or conservation.
