Lugro Ostrich Leather Products are of the highest quality. We only use the best ostrich leather. All our products are designed and handmade in our workshop by highly skilled people. Both the showroom and workshop are located at 133 Langenhoven Road, on the main road from George towards the Cango Caves. We do not manufacture for or sell to trade or on a wholesale bases. We do ship individual items to international customers.

We visited Lugro Ostrich in person in September of 2017 and then placed an online order in June of 2020. We were thrilled with both the way we were treated at Lugro Ostrich and with the multiple products we purchased in 2017 which still look brand new. These included two purses, two belts, wallets, key chains, and a few other small items. We walked from our B&B to Lugro unaware that it was much further than we thought. Despite making no purchase on our first visit, the staff insisted on giving us a ride back to our B&B both because of the distance and their concern about our walking through neighborhoods that seemed safe to us but that they were concerned about.
We had always regretted not purchasing an additional purse similar to the one we gave as a gift to our daughter. So, when we received an email from Lugro Ostrich offering a 15% discount and free shipping to encourage business so that they would not have to lay employees off during the Corona Virus pandemic, we were happy to help and get an opportunity to purchase the purse we regretted not buying. Lucia provided excellent service as well as expressed her/their gratefulness for supporting their business in a time when their tourist trade had shrunk to near zero. We ended up purchasing two purses, three wallets, and a belt. For anyone not familiar with Ostrich products, these are quite expensive products but they are said to last forever. And, although they are still expensive, the cost by purchasing directly through Lugro Ostrich is about 1/3 of what it would be in the USA. Lastly, there are different grades of ostrich both in terms of the leather used and the workmanship. While in South Africa and particularly in Oudtshoorn, we saw a huge variation. It is our belief/experience that Lugro Ostrich is top of the line. We had planned to return to South Africa in January of 2021, but unfortunately have needed to indefinitely postpone our trip due to the pandemic. But as should be obvious from this review, we would highly recommend visiting Lugro Ostrich in person or online and we would definitely try to return there in person on our next trip to South Africa (especially with today's exchange rate).

The first time I visited the Lugro Ostrich Leather Emporium it was a delight to my eyes. The colours and range of these quality products was overwhelming. I bought a number of purses on that visit and ordered more for friends by phone from Capetown. Since then I have bought two bags that have become my favourites. The website is easy to use and Lucia and her staff answer any questions that arise. Both items arrived safely in Australia with little gifts tucked inside. If bought at an upmarket boutique overseas the bags would be three times the price! I highly recommend this company as their genuine ostrich skin products and personal service are outstanding.

During a previous trip to South Africa, I had the opportunity to purchase various ostrich leather items from this local producer. After 7 years of good and loyal service, my wallet was starting to show signs of fatigue. A few emails exchanged with Julia and I was able to order 2 new wallets which were delivered to me in France a few days later by DHL. Fast and efficient service, simple payment by credit card. To recommend.

When we were in the store the service we received was good, but when we returned home I had second thoughts about one of the products that I had bought. I didn't think it would be a problem to return it since Lugro is priced like a luxury brand and so I thought I would receive luxury brand service. Unfortunately this store only does in-person returns, so if you don't live in Outshoorn, be very cautious when shopping.

This is a 20 and 25 year Product Quality Review
I have just replaced and retired my much revered and used daily Lugro Ostrich wallet and belt after about 20 and 25 years of daily use. They were treated as functional utility items. Both still functioned as good as new - stitching 100% intact and both still servicible, and over the years had developed beautiful charactor and patina but never lost their obvious uniqueness.
If they could talk they would spin stories of being on great adventures, 10 years Pearl Farming on The Great Barrier Reef, Mining and Treasure hunting Adventures in Papua New Guinea, Indonesia ,The Remote Solomon Islands and with Independance Fighters in Bougainville and have roamed the Cities, Towns, Deserts and Rain Forests of Australia.
Still, I cannot part with them, they sit pride of place on my office desk.
I'm having a display plinth made for them.

I purchased an ostrich leather wallet from Lugro, ordered over the the Internet at a competitive price. Lugro gave me outstanding service and lightening speed courier delivery. The item is of top quality. I shall certainly be recommending Lugro ostrich products to my friends and acquaintances.

We bought items in the Lugro shop in Oudtshoorn over 10 years ago. What a wonderful experience - a cornucopia of styles and colours. Recently, after several emails each promptly answered, I bought more items online. The package was delivered in a few days to UK by DHL and everything was perfect. The items are excellent quality and long lasting and bring back wonderful memories of South Africa. Highly recommended.

Purchased a purse online. Great website. Had the exact color that was wanted. Pricing was good compared to other options. Prompt response, even on weekends. Hassle-free and reliable delivery for free within 2 days. It was everything one would expect from online shopping.

We visited because we were staying on an ostrich farm and my wife wanted to buy an ostrich bag. The choice was great and the quality first rate. the staff were helpful and knowledgeable and we were even able to tour the factory and meet the person that made the bag we bought.

I'm pretty sure the leather there is fake ostrich skin. I went to the shop and purchased a wallet. The leather seemed off. I asked a different person in another shop and they said " The shop is known for selling fake ostrich skin."
