- kaz hLutterworth, United KingdomWell Worth a Visit!Visited on a beautiful sunny Monday morning. The park was not busy and really good value for money. Navin was our guide, he lead a very interesting, informative and amusing tour that lasted over an hour. Lots to see, very clean and well set out, and all the staff were polite and welcoming. Really lovely visit.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 February 2024
- Great experience - animals up closeThe Cango Wildlife Ranch combines the protection and conservation of species with zoo visits to finance its projects. Virgil's tour was incredibly educational and entertaining. The enclosures are spacious and you can tell that every employee has a passion for animal care. The encounters with the animals, which can be booked separately, particularly stand out. We were allowed to touch the Cheetah kittens accompanied by three dedicated rangers (Jowellen, Janrich and Sedrick). All of this with the necessary respect for the animals, it didn't feel like a tourist dummy in any way. A unique experience that we will never forget!Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 March 2024
- NickyCape Town Central, South AfricaLoved every minuteReally a wonderful place. Probably the highest quality enclosures I've seen. The animals are healthy and happy. We did the cheetah encounter. Our Body guard and guide was very professional and informative. They truly have a passion for animal conservation and I wish nothing but success for them! Definitely will return with the family.Visited May 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 26 May 2024
- vdudelValencia, SpainGreat unique experienceWe had the VIP tour and it was well worth it! The employees put their heart and soul into what they do. The look behind the scenes was great and we learned a lot. We fed leopards, held a snake and petted cheetahs. Treat yourself to this tour, you won't be disappointed. A very beautiful facility, the animals are kept in a generous manner.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 May 2024
- BoardingPass760957Kommetjie, South AfricaMemorable experienceI absolutely love Cango Wildlife Ranch! Every single staff member is so friendly and happy to be there. Leo, our tour guide is a proper story teller and cracked some really funny jokes, his knowledge about all the animals was very insightful. The Turtles restaurant serves great ostrich burgers, Roben has s very friendly and caring demeanour.Visited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 29 July 2024
- Sophia AHannover, GermanyCheetahs rarely get that closeBefore our tour with Danelle started, we were in the Birds area. Here we were able to go close to the animals and feed them with nectar. The tour was very entertaining and informative. Afterwards we had our Animal encounter as we booked a premium ticket. My husband and I went in together with guides and photographers to a cheetah male. We were even allowed to touch and pet him. All along, attention has been paid to both our safety and the welfare of the animal. Meanwhile, our son watched us from a safe distance by the hand of nice Amber. Then our son had his meet&greet with a boa constrictor. Here, too, attention was paid both to the sensation of our son and to the well-being of the snake. Everything was captured by a photographer, you were not allowed to photograph yourself. But that was not necessary at all, because the photos taken were great and it was also mega cheap - 175 margin for all photos on a USB stick. So definitely recommended - and just buy the premium ticket and be happy to tip the employees afterwards - they all do a great job!Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 4 August 2024
- TasneemCape Town Central, South AfricaHighlight of my tripWe had just been to the Cango Caves & stopped here just to see if it was worth visiting, fully intending to get back in the car & drive off! I am glad we decided to check it out & to purchase tickets which included spending time with cheetahs or feeding one of the big cats! Navin was our guide & was well versed in his trade. I learnt quite a bit from his tour. It was amazing! The place is well run & clean. The animals are loved & cared for. We got to pet some cheetahs. You get to enter their enclosure with 3 rangers so felt really safe! Cheetahs also do not view adults as food! We ended up only leaving there after 1730pm. A great day was had. Highly recommended!Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 August 2024
- Liezel McLennanGordon's Bay, South AfricaWow - what an adventureNot knowing what to expect, we were greeted by the most friendly staff. Asked if we would like to join the tour - was blown away. Such knowledge of the animals. Their enclosures are clean and very natural. Spent the whole day - couldn't get enough. Keep loving the animals as you do. The world needs more of you - See you soonVisited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 August 2024
- Must do in the area!We had a great tour here with leader, Danelle, who explained how the wildlife ranch worked to provide safe homes for injured animals and to support the release of animals back into the wild. We then then did a series of encounters. My children met and held snakes and stroked a lemur. The staff were very friendly and passionate in explaining to us facts about the wildlife and we did not feel rushed at any time whilst doing the encounter. My husband fed a leopard and I had the opportunity to sit near a cheater and stroke its head when the staff felt it was appropriate to do so. Food in the restaurant was excellent. We also enjoyed going into the Avery where we spent about an hour feeding the birds and enjoying them flying around us, and occasionally they would land on us. Would highly recommend this place.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 23 August 2024
- Pragmatic foodieMorges, SwitzerlandGreat guided tour! Also, lots of cats and snakes!Nice educational activity for the kids. The guided tour was outstanding. Our guide (can’t remember his name) was engaging and knowledgeable. They’re doing great things for wildlife conservation here. Zoos absolutely have their place. Also - there’s a peacock which walks around like he owns the place. A boss!Visited October 2024Travelled with familyWritten 19 October 2024

Perceived as a zoo but once you have gone through a Guide you get a completely different idea as the Guide gives information about the place and the animals. After this briefing, you may walk around freely. We visited the cheetahs ourselves with Guide, it was safe and the money it cost went to charity. Ate at their restaurant which was delicious and affordable.

Great family visit with a fantastic range of animals.
The guide was enthusiastic and interesting. The tour is well laid out with a good view point for all of the animals.
The kids enjoyed a splash in the water play area after the tour.
Restaurant catered well for a large group and it’s refreshing for a UK visitor to see that prices aren’t inflated for the captive audience.
More half a day out than a full day.

Visited here in the afternoon on Jan-1, 2025.
The entrance to this place has a crocodile mouth with sharp teeth as a fixture and upon arrival inside, we were met by our tour guide / staff - wildlife guardian: Themba Mjula.
He explained about the various animals & wildlife exhibits in this ranch in a very entertaining & amusing yet informative way and kept our interest throughout.
He knew many Hindi words and even gave the names of many animals in Hindi also.
We saw skulls of pygmy & regular hippos as well as many live animals - otter, macaws, flamingos, cheetahs (4 newborn cubs birthed in Oct-2024 whose names all started with the alphabet: Z like Zuri, Zolo etc), lions, leopard, crocodiles, peacocks, tortoises, meerkat, reptiles like snakes & lizards, parakeets / lories (which you can pay to feed with nectar cups) etc.
Post the guided tour, free time to explore on your own or participate in further paid experiences like touch/interact with cheetah cubs.
You can also financially adopt any of the wildlife in the ranch & get discounts on all gift store purchases and other interactions. You'd also be given the right to name new borns of your adopted animal.

They fail to mention that you need to pay the R250 per head to use the restaurant. We arrived 1h30 mins before they close just to grab something to eat on the way home and they want to charge R250 pp to enter before we have ordered anything. Will not recommend using the restaurant.

This place was absolutely amazing and I’d honestly go back tomorrow and the day after that and that! I loved every moment of this experience, from seeing all the big cats to the pigmy hippos and Nile crocs. I loved the cheetah experience and it’s something I’ll remember forever. Our guide Renaldo was extremely educational, enthusiastic and he made the tour entertaining and enjoyable. Tamryn, the American vet and the big cat curator (we didn’t get their names) we’re all super friendly and willing to answer any questions we had. They also seemed to really love their jobs and the animals they care for and it was inspiring and motivating to see. They made the overall experience even better, just by loving their jobs. We arrived at 11 a.m. and only left at 5 p.m. , that shows how much we loved it and enjoyed seeing and meeting all the wonderful animals. All in all I’d rate the Cango Wildlife Ranch 10/10 and I’ll definitely be back in the future and recommend it to anyone and everyone. Loved loved loved!

As we had time to spare before checking into our lodge we decided to visit the Cango Wildlife Ranch. We actually walked in with a little smile at the - at first glance - a bit „kitschig“ look of the place. But the tour with Ronaldo, our guide, convinced us of the concept behind this place: awareness, protection and rehabilitation (where possible). His passionate and at the same time humorous accounts about the animals in this „ranch“ were very convincing and authentic. Well done, Ronaldo. We had booked an encounter with cheetahs - here too, the staff (especially Heinz) made this an unforgettable experience.

This was our second visit here and we enjoy this place every time we come. They currently have a special on which includes entrance with a guided tour (optional), 1 experience and a meal at the restaurant for 250 rand per person. We choose to walk around by ourselves and enjoy. The animals have a lot of free range and they have some more interactive enclosures as well. The birds is one of my favourites, you can buy small pots of nectar for 15 rand each and they will come and sit on you and drink the nectar- great for photo opportunity's!
We have done the Lemurs (We would highly recommend choosing this encounter) and Serval encounters before so this time we chose the Baby Cheetah Cubs. Our guides were fantastic and very knowledgeable. They made sure it was only us in the enclosure to make the experience more personal and special and you could see that safety was also a top priority for them. A photographer takes photos of you with the cubs and you have the option to buy the photos afterwards. They put them onto a memory stick for 120 rand.
The food was great and service was very friendly.
Overall all of the staff we encountered were very happy, helpful and smiley and the sanctuary has put good COVID measures in place for a safe operation. The animals are all well looked after and have adequate space for them to roam in. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

Rated 4 stars **** for zoological eccentricity! We were casually admiring the flamboyance of flamingos for their beauty when the wading bird handler asked us if we wanted a souvenir feather from the Phoenicopteridae family. Without waiting for our answer he plunged into the holding, wading into the flamingos and scattering them out of the water in all directions, leaving a handful of feathers on the ground, one of which he proudly presented to us as our memento of Oudtshoorn. Wow!

I have found an old photo of myself with cub white tiger on my lap taken at your ranch years ago. I was part f a group of Motoring Editors who visited the ranch while on a car launch. I was wondering whether the white cub has grown up and whether it is still with you. If I remember correctly it was an Indian Tiger, but I may be wrong. Your response would be appreciated. Tks Henrie Geyser, Hout Bay.

Good day Henrie,
Thank you so much for your message. It is great to connect with an old friend!
So we actually have two white Indian tigers that were born here and my, have they grown! Their names are Nevada and Taji. Nevada is a snow white tiger, so his stripes are nearly invisible and Taji has contrasting black stripes. We can send their photos to you via e-mail if you'd like?
We do not do tiger encounters anymore, but we hope you come and visit to see your old buddy soon, you'd be surprised at how big they got in the meantime!
Kind Regards

We'll be visiting 18th April, it wouldn't be for a whole day as we have to move on around midday so maybe a morning.. are we likely to be ok to just turn up that morning and then decide if we want to add the cheetah and cheetah cub experience on at the time, or is it necessary to book ahead?

Good morning!
Oudtshoorn is about 450km from Cape Town, so a day trip might be a bit tight, as we also want you to be able to spend enough time here to ensure a well-rounded visit. Our beautiful town does however, offer lots of activities and fantastic accommodation options so an overnight will be well worth the trip!
