We just happened upon this lovely reserve and waterfall. Neat and tidy and well kept. Pretty walk, clean toilets and a nice picnic area. Well worth the drive off the main roads.

A very recomendable thing to visit. From the gate (entrance fee 61 Rand for 1 to 4 people) it's a 2.5 km drive on a gravel road, then 300 m walking over various bridges - this es fun! At the parking there is a picnic area. Friendly staff at the gate.

To get to the actual waterfall is a little tedious - 11km drive on gravel road, scenery is nice but after a while gets boring. Then you reach the waterfall entrance, where you have to park and walk a bit to get to the waterfall, some stairs as well. You do not need to be fit for that though, but proper walking shoes or trainers recommended as my shoes got wet and muddy. Also, bring cardigan or jacket as can get a little cool there. Bring a bottle to fill up as it is Oudsthoorn's drinking water supply! Lovely views, took my breath away when looking at this beautiful waterfall. Not so much of a picnic area though, would not recommend for that. There is an entrance fee to the waterfall, not expensive.

We took short drive to visit Rust n Vrede Waterfall located just outside Oudsthoorn town.
80m high and about 300m of easy walking.
There is an entry fee to maintain area.
Closing times apply.
One can just relax and enjoy noise of waterfall and nature.

After a very scenic drive to the falls that left us with a short but magical walk trough the forest, we arrived at our destination. What a true splendor and magical view it was indeed, I was not sure if I should take photos or dive right in. awe inspiring indeed, one of Oudtshoorns best kept secrets. We will surely be back and this comes highly recommended!

Along an extremely good graded road ( about 11k) after paying R53 to the Oudtshoon man on the gate ( per Car) it is another 3 k to the parking area . About 300 metres to the waterfalls . It was 40 c however by the falls ,wonderfully cool . You can Dunk in a rock pool but it is very slippy
We went at 10 am , no one else was there

We visited the cango caves and were looking for a nice place to picnic. There was a road sign indicating a waterfall and so we took it unknowingly of what we would find. The road is breathtaking and luckily accessible with even a polo! A very short walk though even more beautiful terrain will get you to one of the best swimming spots. The falls are amazing and we really enjoyed the selfie fest that followed. Do not drive past this.

Yes, I would definitely recommend this wonderful little hike to a beautiful location tucked away just outside of Oudtshoorn. It is a fairly cheap admission (gates open at 09h00)

The picnic spots are also advertised but the picnic area is terribly run down.

It is a relatively short hike in a lovely forest (take care, walkways are very soggy.) Not very strenuous (however not wheelchair friendly.) There are some lovely deep mountain pools that I suppose you could take a dip in. I would feel a bit guilty having a swim as a sign says that it is Oudtshoorn's source of drinking water.

The waterfall itself is really lovely with plenty of fantastic photo opportunities.

A lovely way to kill an hour.

Nice location. You have to drive a few kilometers on a gravel road to get there. They open the gate to get into the area at 09:00 o clock. The price is R100 for a vehicle with no more then 5 people. Further you drive 2,5 KM and then you have to go for 15 min. to get to the Waterfall. In the middle of nature a nice place. The R100 is worth to pay.
