I agree with others in pointing out that there are no practice facilities. However, our issues were far worse.
firstly, my brothers had played earlier in the week and charged zar1000 per round. we were then told the price was zar1550 on our visit and this is the price we had to pay.
For those who have not played this course, you have to use a buggy, there is no other way to play as there are big distances between greens and tees.
When we arrived on the first tee, we were told by the starter that there was an issue with the buggies and they would be restricted to the paths. Why we were not told this prior to paying was ridiculous.
However, when we got on the course, the groups in front of us and behind us could drive on the fairways! This situation led to my worst experience on a golf course.
Not only did we have long distances to walk from buggy to ball, then realise that you have the wrong club for the distance but just go with it anyway to save going back to the buggy to change club, but also had the group behind us having to wait for us. This obviously led to us rushing our shots and made our round the worst experience.
when we got back to the clubhouse, we asked to speak to management. He was out on the course. He finished his round while we were having a drink and we were told he would see us shortly. 45 minutes later, he had not bothered to see us, so we left. He then ran into the car park to see us and after we explained what had happened, he apologised and said he would contact us to see if he could arrange some sort of compensation. Needless to say that he never contacted us as promised.

I don’t like to review golf courses generally as I have been involved in golf for long enough to know that it is easy for a course to be having an off day and so a review based on one visit can be unfair. However, the issues at Pezula are fundamental. Firstly, there are no practice facilities other than a short game area. Not even a net. So you will take on a very difficult golf course completely cold. Secondly, the booking process is completely flawed. Our pre-booked and confirmed starting time was not recorded and there were others on site who suffered the same. When we complained we were given a later time but it became obvious that we were slotted in as extras. When we finally gave up on the round at the 15th, we were on track for a 5 hour plus round. The course itself is shoehorned in around a high end residential development on a piece of land that you would never choose for a golf course. The elevation changes are in some cases ridiculous and make for a very difficult and, I thought, very unenjoyable course (I play off low single figures). The greens were not very good compared to the local competition, and on the day we were there, the changing rooms/toilets had no running water.

My advice would be to avoid this place. Or, hire a buggy and drive round but avoid the course…the views are pretty spectacular.

I agree with a previous reviewer on several points.
Firstly no practice range is poor, a problem compounded as we were hurried to the first tee before our ten minutes before our time and expected to play straight off. The other two in our fourball were already on the ladies tee two hundred yards away! This was because of a members two tee start competition in three hours time!
Secondly the area is beautiful, it just does not lend itself to building a golf course in the space with ridiculous changes in elevation. In addition it is very heavily bunkered and the sand in them was without exception poorly maintained making it impossible to get under the ball. The green complexes look lovely, but I found them impossibly difficult to play.
My wife and I were paired with two others who were very poor golfers on more than one occasion playing 8 shots before catching up with us!
In summary not the enjoyable experience I hoped for. If you have a choice play Simola instead!

No driving range, so it is impossible to prepare properly for this Course. On top of it one is not allowed to drive the cart on the fairways, which were green and dry during our visit. You have to walk to each ball. Managers explanation after our complaint: We have to look after our fairways throughout the year. Don't play this course if you are not allowed to drive on the fairways. Don't pay in advance, unless you love to walk a lot and have a 5 1/2 hour round of golf. Never again, because there are friendlier courses around!

In addition to the lovely clubhouse and bar, the golf course itself is stunning. A lovely meet-and-greet experience, a well designed and maintained golf course. The course is is very playable for golfers of all levels with strategically placed layup areas for shorter hitters and challenging decisions for the more skilled. Many of the holes offer magnificent views of both the lagoon and the sea shore, truly stunning. The short 5th, the 13th and 14th being personal favourites. My only gripes are (a) the 1st hole, this is (to put this mildly) a bit of a mess for the average double figure weekend golfer. It is high time this was redesigned and remains an a Achilles Heel of this otherwise awesome track. (B) Compared to other courses/estates of this level, the practice facilities are poor. There needs to exist a practice range of some sorts, not just a chip/putt area, surely one can incorporate this while redesigning the 1st?

We recently played Pezula with a bunch of friends and had an amazing golfing experience. The course was in great condition considering it’s a busy time of the year. Service was good, views sublime and the recently renovated clubhouse, a treat! Love Pezula-highly recommended

love the views on this course, it is a challenging track ( especially when the wind blows), but you cannot but enjoy the course, with some amazing holes, plenty of baboons and great service

We stayed here with our family about a year ago and it was a really lovely experience -- the villa was great, the fireplace amazing -- especially as we were there in winter.

Firstly, it is important to understand that this is a championship course so there is absolutely no point in playing here just because you are on holiday or a visitor to the area UNLESS you are a confident golfer.
The fact that the first hole is Stroke Index 1 is a clue as to what is to come. There are no easy holes and to make any sort of a score you need to be fit, be able to hit a long drive and have mental strength & endurance ..it’s tough!
To give you a clue, I’m a 25 handicapper and by some miracle garnered 20 Stableford points. My partner, an 18 h’capper, failed make double figures.
That said, it is a very well maintained course kept in immaculate condition ..the greens are hard to read and are like bowling greens, many heavily bunkered. There are some wonderful views and lots of water so take a stack of old balls as you will lose quite a few!
Expensewise it’s not cheap but there are deals to be had – negotiate!
A tip: keep your buggy to the marked pathways ..helpfully, there are small guard rails to help you avoid straying on to prohibited areas of the fairways. Should you inadvertently wander into a restricted zone an alarm will sound on your buggy ..to cancel the alarm draw back the accelerator & go into reverse gear, then forward. You won’t get ticked off but you will feel a bit of a twot!
I’m glad we took the challenge but boy were we exhausted by the end!
A team of stewards are on hand to get you started, prepare your buggy and take your clubs back to the car at the finish. There is a decent pro-shop and large bar to reward your efforts.
Whatever your score, and however you’ve fared, you will have played proper golf!
