Incredible! This is a heartwarming, personal, and special tour. You must go. We got to meet with people from the White Location area and find out about daily life here. We drank tea and played with drums and sang in Ella’s house at the end. We felt so inspired by the incredible work Ella has done to support children in her local community. What a joy to do this tour. Thanks you Ella, Vellem and Penny.

Ella was a fantastic host on this extremely informative tour.
We felt safe and able to ask questions about all of township life.
It didn't feel voyeuristic at all a great learning experience, letting you have a better understanding of life in the township.
We had tea and biscuits in Ella's home meeting some of the children that her charity supports.
We learnt some drumming and had fun with the language.
I would recommend this tour it is insightful, informative and fun
Well done Ella keep up the good work

We went with Vellem and Ella to Knysna Township. They showed us around and explained how people live there, some in quite nice 2 bedroom houses and some in shacks. We visit a daycare for toddlers,Chimo’s hairshop,a beautiful mall built by investors, and a Mini Market were we bought some local products .Ella mentioned, that living in a township has a lot of challenges and there is still a lot to improve for the people there. We were also invited at Ella’s house for tea, thank you for your hospitality 🧡 then the joyful team brought us back to Knysna Waterfront. It was an interesting visit and we felt very safe and welcome!

Part of travelling is to see how other people live so we decided to go on this tour during our stay in Knysna.
Contrary to a scary news story written a few years ago, we found this tour to be both safe and enlightening. Our lovely and lively guide Lamla walked us through a section of the town then finished off with refreshments, an introduction to Xhosa - and some drumming. Definitely worthwhile to visit this township and support their social and animal welfare initiatives.

An enlightening half-day experience for myself and my 2 adult children. It was hard to see the difficulties some children (and adults) face living in the townships of South Africa, but the tour was filled with hope and a positive message of what can be done on the ground by grassroots organizations and individuals--like Ella Mapurisa--who are mission-driven, passionate, and dedicated. An important experience not to be missed; one that my children and I reflect on often.

What a wonderful experience! An opportunity to visit an area where you normally wouldn't venture into to see the work that has been done to improve these peoples' lives. Ella is such an inspiring woman. It was lovely to be able to visit a pre-school and interact with the children and then enjoy Ella's hospitality at her home with singing and drumming. It gives you an small insight into what people can do if they are just given a chance. A trip everyone should do. The view from the township of Knysna Head is also pretty impressive!

The visit to the preschool was heartwarming, and the tea, drumming and dancing at the home school was so much fun. Also it was a great pleasure to see how much the living conditions have improved since we were here last 16 years ago. I was very impressed by the great job Ella and all the other dedicated people are doing for people and animals alike.

We did a township tour with Ella and Vellem. It was great fun and also educational. We bought some chips at a shop for the children from daycare. And we went to Elly's house where we drank a cup of tea and made music together. A beautiful experience!

Gives another, much-appreciated perspective to Knysna (and South Africa as a whole), distinct from the rich, almost-hipster vibes of the downtown tourist area. It's not a doom-and-gloom tour either, and showcases the resourcefulness and successes of the township community.

I did the Tour a coupe of days ago with my girlfriend. Ella and Vellem gave us a wonderful Tour through the township. We felt that we were in good hands the moment we heard Vellems loud laugh for the first time.

The whole tour Was organised so good and they could answer every single question we had.

We would reccomend it to anyone traveling through knysna.

Thank you!
