About
Two of the most important attractions in South Africa are safari and wine. The picturesque Hemel and Aarde Valley famous for its boutique wineries is just a stone’s throw from Hermanus town centre. By combining a safari experience with our wine tour Wine Hoppers’ hop-on hop-off service truly offers their visitors a unique experience with a fleet of 3 converted safari-style vehicles. Our hop-on-hop-off wine safari is a full-day tour in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Choose one of four departure times and spend quality time at each winery you choose to visit. Your first stop will be Whalehaven Winery where you will meet your tour guide. Every hour a driver will be stopping by to collect those of you who are ready to move on to the next winery.

We were lucky to have the tour to ourselves! We spent the day visiting six wineries in total starting at 10:00 and finishing about 17:00. As we didn't know much about the wineries it was great that Thobela, our driver, provided suggestions. He was also punctual in picking us up and setting us down at each winery, ensuring we made it to Creation for our table reservation. We thought it was a good value trip and a great way to sample the many wines in the area.

Used them in 2020 and yesterday. Thobela was an incredibly nice, considerate driver and guide who was focused on pleasing all his guests. However the company offers too much flexibility for the number of booked customers and vehicles available so it’s very difficult to keep to a timetable. To be fair it wasn’t too bad this time albeit we had to stay an additional 45 minutes at one winery. Thobela told us in advance and it was hardly a big deal cos all the wine experiences were wonderful. However I know from last time as the number of customers increase and some want to do wineries in a different order it becomes very difficult to manage. Believe me this company will do everything to minimise disruption but delays can inevitably occur. However just like last time we had a great day visiting the wineries with this company, and if we came to this area again we would definitely use this again

This is our second time using Wine Hoppers. Last year was difficult for them because they had to detour to a road further away, due to the floods, but regardless they managed and we all had a great time. This year the road is open, although still under construction in parts. We went to Bouchard Finlayson, Bosman, La Vierge, Spookfontein and Creation. It's advised to book ahead for certain wineries, but they can assist with that. I would agree with another reviewer that they are very accommodating and it's almost like your own "private" tour. Special thanks to Alfredo, our driver!

Your R350 is paying for the experience and for VIP treatment. No wine or other services are included, it is only about the experience and the driving. Our driver, Tobela was great but we were so stressed when he arrived we hardly enjoyed the first wine farm. The communication from this company sucks. We were left waiting for half an hour in the sun despite being told that they are “five minutes away”. We then had to drive with the 11:30 booking. Luckily there was enough space. The week before this, two of our friends could no longer make it and I was assured they could get their money back. I have sent four emails and I have not had a single reply. Someone in the company is not coping with their job and their incompetence in letting the entire company down. Also, when using this company please make sure to make bookings at the wine farm to avoid disappointment. We met a German couple who were told by the company it won’t be necessary to make a booking the day before for Creation wine farm but when they booked on the day the wine farm was fully booked. What a pity. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

A really good day out where you visit several wine estates for tastings. It’s good value as you can spend as little or much as you like at each tasting. Transport in the “safari-style” vehicle is good fun and the driver is quite flexible in the pick up time from each winery.

All of it was fantastic! Alfredo was an exceptional guide and driver. Nothing was too much trouble and he was exceptionally kind to my disabled mother.
I , as a Cape Town local, had never experienced Bosman and left our tour up to Alfredo and he took us there and it was a truly memorable event. Khali, our sommelier was so knowledgable , warm and accommodating and a true credit to the estate as were the rest of the staff. All in all a highly recommendable day and if time allows, we would do it twice to spend more time at all the estates in the valley.

Our second time with Hermanus Wine Hoppers up the beautiful Hemel en Aarde valley was as superb as our first trip a few years ago. Wonderful wine at Bouchard Finlayson, La Vierge and then tapas pairing at Creation. All amazing and made even better by our fantastic driver Thobela who really looked after us and took great care of our wine purchases! We will be back. Thank you Wine Hoppers for making this so easy and doing such a great job to promote the amazing vineyards of the Western Cape.

Tobela picked us up from our hotel and took us up the Hemel en Aarde Valley, stopping at Bouchard Finlayson, La Vierge and Creation Wines where we had lunch. We hsd a great time wine tasting and learing about each wine. Tobela was very informative, made great suggestions about which wineries to stop at and looked after us very well. I really appreciated not having to drive and being able to enjoy the wines.

Thoroughly enjoyed our Wine Hopper tour. They were helpful, attentive and even made a lunch booking for us at one of the wineries. They called ahead when our wine stops ran a little longer than expected to make sure the next winery was still open. Their drivers were personable and really felt like they cared about us having a good time. Don't miss out on the wine and chocolate pairings at WhaleHaven wineries! Lunch at La Vierge or Tapas at Creation winery.
