Greeted with a very friendly attendant as we walked in. Ready with helpful info before we proceeded with our tour. What an amazing adventure. History 101. To see all the antique items at every exhibition make you almost relive the past. It touches your heart and confirms that you belong. Every item shows a part of history (good and bad) we are a part of. Thank you for the way the museum is kept. We will definitely be back with visiting family and friends.

We were staying in George for a couple of nights with not a lot to do as it is not very touristy. Our hotel manager suggested we try here. I am not very keen on going in random museums of which I know nothing and don’t have much interest. HOWEVER I really liked this one. The focus was on the lumbar industry. I found it very interesting and very well laid out. I loved the fact that there was a curved slope up to the next floor so no stairs to climb. The presentation and displays were excellent and we spent about an hour there, so many different exhibits.
There were toilets on both levels. You can take photos all round and it is free but they ask for a donation which was worth it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Even though they couldn’t answer my question about something in the town they tried very hard to find out.
Well worth a visit.

We decided to visit the George museum and were very pleasantly surprised. The Lady at reception was extremely friendly and helpful. The exhibits were lovely and they have a grammaphone collection that blew us away! Well worth a visit. Thank you.

Doesn't look like much from the outside but this museum surprised us all. An interesting selection of local artwork together with a number of historical rooms to view as well as an outside timber display provided an overview of some of George's history. Entrance is free with donations appreciated.

Here you discover what happened before and you can just say thanks for all those before us. They made places like we know it and they worked hard for it. We are sorry for what we are not taking care of

It is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. The exhibits are very well done, and the outside wood cutting exhibit was a very nice surprise
