About
Come abseil through waterfalls, jump off cliffs and scramble down a pristine privately owned canyon. The experience is fully catered and includes breakfast, lunch, drinks and snacks. The abseiling includes 4 to 6 waterfalls. Sometimes abseiling down in the water, next to the water or underwater. The heights vary in size from 9m to 50m. The cliff jumps are not compulsory. There are 2m, 4m, 7m and 14m jump heights to choose from depending on your personal skill level. The pool depth is 9m which makes it the ideal place to have fun. Winter trips are far more extreme and for people that have been before or have had previous abseiling or canyoning experience. There is LOTS of water and the temperature in the canyon drops down considerably. We have a full day trip which has 4 to 6 abseils and cliff jumping called Smalblaar and a half day trip with 2 abseils and cliff jumping called The Eye.

Beautiful canyon/gorge, private area so no litter and no other people. Loved the abseiling, jumping and tightrope (even though I splatted into the water rather than the elegant forward somersault I attempted!) Devon was entertaining and extremely attentive to all safety matters so it felt safe. His sidekick Chizzy was equally entertaining and attentive to safety matters - a great duo! I loved the day and found it adventurous enough without being scary. I would highly recommend Smalblaar and Frixion

This trip was breathtaking.
We where two couples with only little experience in mountain sports and average fitness level.
Being able to experience this unique nature with Devin and his team was the highlight of our CapeTown stay. The whole tour was very well planned and organized, all the jumps and abseilings in this prestine canyon where secured before we arrived, we could just enjoy the adventure.
Devin leads you through this experience with his overwelming energy, you can feel that he is in this sport with all his heart.
We had a great great time.

What an experience!?
Starting from the early morning, right up until midday, Devon and his 2 man crew, entertained, guided and safely instructed us through an unforgettable experience. Providing everything, Frixion Adventures surely are one of the best out there. I highly recommend this to everyone.

A group of 6 of us did the full day canyoneering trip on our recent trip to Cape Town. It was the high light of our trip. Devin the owner of the company was awesome to work with and he was so great in working with us to make sure everything was arranged for the trip. We were picked up by his assistant, Chissy the morning of the trip. Both Devin and Chissy made the whole experience so awesome and fun. Our group had a wide range of canyoneering experiences and I have done an extensive amount of canyoneering and one in our group had only done this once before and we all had such a great time even with different skill levels. The canyon is so pristine and beautiful and Frixion has private access to this area and it is such a great experience to have the canyon all to your self. Having done many canyons by myself I was so impressed with all the safety measures that were taken to make sure this was a safe and enjoyable trip. Devin and Chissy made the day so much fun and we had an amazing time in such a beautiful place and I can not recommend enough this experience for anyone wanting to have a unique experience in a beautiful canyon and challenge yourself in a safe way with experts that were so good to make sure everyone in our group felt comfortable in doing the things that day. For sure a five star experience!!!!!

I abseiled from Table Mountain last year, which was a tame short thrill compared to the experience I had this day in the Smalblaar Canyon.
Our small group, guided and instructed by Devin and Mark abseiled along several beautiful waterfalls, kloofing through the rocky terrain, swimming in magnificent mountain pools.
Devin and Mark safely maneuvered us down this stunning and challenging canyon -
walking through clear streams, beeing able to enjoy this lush nature at it's most awe inspiring.
The laughter, companionship and excitement made the day!
Team- we salute you!

Best. The scenery was beautiful. The hiking was so fun but my legs are still killing me from the climbing back up but even that was fun and worth it. The jumping will be something I will never forget. Hands down best memory I have so far. The guide himself was a legend, very funny and entertaining but still made us feel safe. Just a great mini adventure but no Frixion as it was a smooth ride the whole way. Did the beginner course and now I'm addicted. Definitely going to come again and again. He'll be sick of me. 11/10 will recommend again

Had an absolutely awesome time on the half day trip !
I have done some abseiling on Table Mountain long ago and while that was a good first experience, I felt that this was much more exhilarating, challenging and satisfying.
The conditions were misty and rainy but that didn't stop us from gunning this adventure. I'm really glad I didn't bail because I would argue that these conditions made it even more fun and memorable.
Devon and Liberty were super professional as guides, there was not one moment I felt unsafe. They are also an extremely entertaining team and will give you the right amount of mental backing when you are in need of some courage for a daunting cliff dive.
There were sufficient amounts of food and beverages. When we arrived, we were greeted with a table full of fresh materials to build breakfast buns, prepare our own lunch and have some coffee before starting our hike.
Pretty much everything was provided in terms of gear which was really convenient.
Me and my friends will most certainly come back for the full day version and maybe even try the night version when we are up to scratch.
A must-do when you are in Cape Town and in lockdown.

I would highly recommend this abseiling canyoning experience. It starts on the hill top of a pristine part of the Limietberge with a yummy breakfast and communal saarmie making. This included beetroot humus! And other tasty little extras. Devon and Mark were amazing hosts - full of jokes, stories, good advice and a ton load of support and encouragement. The abseiling and canyon clambering was exhilarating, scary, challenging and has expanded my life and renewed my self confidence. Doing several abseils down different terrains was a great way to work out the techniques and then try something new by the next abseil - even tried some (tiny) hops on the last drop. 😄. For me the day was one of those life high lights.

Already during the preparation Devin went the "extra mile" to make the day for us a memorable one. He specially took care that the route was suitable for our children (6 and 8 years old). He even organised a tractor tube to float on the natural pools!
Bothe Devin and Cheesy were very encouraging and motivated our kids to do the abseiling. The kids had respect for the height and were unsure if they should do it. The guides managed to motivate the kids to do the abseiling (mostly in "tandem", i.e. together with the guide) and after the tour the kids told me they would have liked to have done more abseiling!
Thanks to Devin and Cheesy for a wonderful day! I can highly recommend the tour to anybody in for an adventure in a beautiful canyon. If anyhow possible I will do the trip again on my next vacation in the cape.

Dear Frank. Thanks for this positive feedback. It was a great experience having you and your young boys in the canyon. They did so well and next time we will come up with some more cool extra adventures for them. Hope to get them down the 23m again and maybe both down the 9m. Dev and Liberty made us laugh, feel safe and pushed our boundaries with a great day out! Dev conducted an exceptionally professional day out from start to finish. As someone who has a fear of heights Liberty and Dev made me feel secure at every stop. The day was everything we hoped for. Good absailing, fun jumps and stunning views! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Frixion to anyone on the lookout for their next adventure.

You are correct, the Smalblaar trip needs no prior experience as the jumps are not compulsory and we ease into the abseils. By the end, you all will be like secret agents!!

Hello,
We are interested to go on the Smalblaar route on around August 19, and would like to ask about the water temperature at that time is it very cold? We come from a tropical country so we are not used to too much cold water :). Also we are a group of novices and some people might be afraid of doing the high jumps, are there always options to go down without jumping from high places with this route? Finally for this time of the year are there other options we can take aside from Smalblaar, as people in my party may not be so physically active :)

August is cold and exciting. We provide all the gear to keep you warm and comfortable. Water temp is cold so we will give you do wetsuits. You g goby need any experience to do the canyon. I would suggest doing me a mail so I can send you some info packs. Kindest regards

Hi, good to hear from you. During the winter months we are able to run amazing high water trips through the Smalblaar canyon. The availability of trips and access to the canyon is however determined by the weather and the amount of rain that has fallen close to the trip date.If all goes well then it does make for an amazing day out. Past clients whom have been there in the winter have been absolutely thrilled. Hope this helps. Cheers
