My wife and I did a tandem Skydive during our recent holiday in Cape Town, and thought it was wonderful. Cape Town has to be the ultimate place to Skydive due to the weather and scenery. It is also a reasonably cheap place to Skydive. We paid 1250 Rand each, plus a further 500 rand to have my Wife's jump videoed.
The jump site is located some 20 to 30 minutes north of Cape town, and is very easy to get to, as you simply drive along the R27 coastroad until you see the signs, then it is a 2km ride down a dirt track.
We booked in advance, however others who jumped on the same day as us just turned up on the day.
When you arrive you sign an indemnity form, which is pretty standard practice whenever you do any activity in South Africa, you are then kitted out, and walk out to the single engine plane. I for some reason expected there to be seats, however it is pretty basic, only the pilot has a seat. The jumpers are tightly packed in, with little space to move. Capacity excluding the pilot is 6, when we jumped this was my wife, myself, the tandem masters, video cameraman and one other.
It took about 20 minutes for the plane to get up to the 9500 feet from which you jump, with the views from the plane getting more and more awe inspiring, by the time we reached the jump height we could see all the way down the cape peninsula to Cape point.
When you get over the initial shock of leaving the plane it is actually very exciting. The freefall element lasts about 30 Seconds and feels like flying. It is surprising how much control the tandem masters had in their movement. The main sensation is of the wind. All too quickly the parachute opens, and then it is a very gentle glide back down to Earth, you will be allowed to take control of the parachute, it is very easy to operate.
Before the Jump I was slightly worried about the landing, but I need not have been, it was very soft, and in to deep sand.
I would definitely recommend paying the extra to have the video cameraman accompany you as it is over so quickly, and you soon find yourself wondering if you had actually jumped. The video we got lasts about 7 minutes, we also got a disk containing 96 photos that the cameraman also took .
Finally I have to say it is not nearly as frightening as it appears to most people, really you just need to counteract your own fear, as it is more in the mind than a reality. We took out insurance before we jumped for piece of mind, and was surprised that the insurance companies do not regard Skydiving as a particularly dangerous sport, scuba diving, and most winter sports were considered worse risks.

I was traveling with other 2 friends in capetown. And on the last day of our trip, this company texted us earlier that we got the places for skydive. So we decided to left the Robben island tickets behind which we already bought and cant be refund to skydive with them. We called to confirm that we were going. Our appointment was 12.30 The place is far out which took us 1 hr to get there by taxi from the city. It costed 400 rands. We reached there before time to see no one!! The place is closed! THEY DIDNT CONTACT US THAT THE JUMP HAD BEEN CANCELLED! Nothing! we were left in the middle of nowhere!! No wifi, no signal, no help, nothing at all!!! WE CANT EVEN GO HOME! We 3 female tourists were just left there desperately trying to hitch hike back to the city which was very risky to do here since theres no Uber/Taxi at all. But what else could we do??? I was so mad and scared that my eyes started to water and my body started to shake! And the hitchhike back took us all afternoon to come back.
Thank you for putting us in such risks!

Today, March 2nd 2018, me and a friend of mine went to Skydive Cape Town.
First we were a little confused by driving with Uber, because it is in the middle of nowhere and we weren’t sure if we are on the right road.
But it turned out that the description of the location which Skydive send before was - of course - perfect to find :)
By the way: kindly ask your Uber if he can picks you up later on, because sometimes people are struggling to get an Uber to that place.
I had a skydive with Paul and for sure it was the best man I could wish to fly with! He has just an amazing sense of how to calm people down and says the right things in the right moment.
You’ll be nervous, but that is part of the game :)
Thank you Paul it was a pleasure to skydive with you ❤️
All was perfect and I wasn’t scared at any time. This team is really doing a great job!
I choose also the package with photo and video and all: choose this package too, it’s absolutely worth it!!!
I would always book again Skydive Cape Town. I can really recommend these people to skydive with.
Go ahead and book, it’s one of the best things in life you can do!
Cheers Kers 🤙

We just booked a Skydive about our Hostel one evening before. The price is 1900 Rand and if you want photos (400 Rand), a Video (400 Rand) or both (600 Rand) you can book it in addition to the dive (its worth doing that, they do everything to get great pictures).
The stuff is very friendly and cool, you will love the atmosphere even before the actual thing.
They tell you how it works and what you have to do, after that you can ask questions.
You will get your equipment and your Tandem partner will check it several times if all things are on the right place. So i never felt unsecure, they know what they do!
And now: lets go!
Off to a 20 minutes flight, about 3000 metres high. 30 seconds free fall - WOW!! Never had such a great feeling with such an amazing view.
It takes another 5 minutes until you will get to the bottom again. Landing is very easy.
So i have to say thank you so much for this great experience!!

Well in advance of our holiday we booked a tandem skydive with Skydive Cape Town R27 Melkbosstrand, Cape Town. We booked early as we only had the first 3 days of our trip planned and did not know where we would be at any over given point during our trip. On the morning of our dive we were asked to phone before we drove to the airstrip. We were due to jump at 9.30 and called at 8 to be told we were able to jump. We were almost there when they phoned us to say that it had suddenly become cloudy and that we should not set off. We had not noticed a sudden change in the weather. We explained we were already nearly there. What they don't tell you is that the approach road unmade and is awful. We did make it there in our hire car but it was not a pleasant ride. The entire set up is poor. It says on their website that The Hard Dock café, serving refreshments and snacks, operates whenever the DZ is open: we found no evidence of this and were not offered a drink in the 3 hours we were there. The toilets are horrid. We were early and this was not their fault and they could not help the weather we know but when the clouds did finally lift they were not even ready to take us up and by this stage we had been there 2 and 1/2 hours waiting for conditions to improve. I fail to understand why when the weather did improve that they not ready since we had had it booked for weeks and had been there in plenty of time. The weather forecast for later in the afternoon was for increasing wind so we were told we could not jump that day. We didn't get to jump and quite frankly I feel blessed now that we didn't because we had a far far superior experience with Olga and her team at mossel bay. If you have a choice chose Mossel Bay it’s a much more professional set up.

I was really unhappy with the way i was treated by skydive cape town - after skydiving in plettenberg bay, i decided to do a second jump, and found the company very card to get hold of (you can never hear them on the phone) very far from Cape Town centre, and almost ungrateful that i was spending my money with them. I would much rather go back to Plettenberg and jump there.

Gave my hubby a skydive as a present after having made contact with these guys. Although they came back to me quickly with pricing and availability, when the time came to actually do the skydive they were not available, promised to call and didnt and basically embarrassed me.

Our Sky Dive was arranged via Gavin Pfister at Extreme Scene at a total whim and instead of a safari after we convinced ourselves we would be better off going on 'real' safari another time. He told us the sky dive wouldn't disappoint us and boy was he right! We were kept informed of the weather forecast from a few days beforehand and the whole process was very simple. The directions were easy to follow and we arrived on time. We were welcomed quickly and asked to 'sign our lives away' and greeted by our 'partners' for the jump, Rob and Bevan. Both these guys instantly put us as ease (I was particularly nervous and husband more worried about me worrying!!) and explained the whole process to us. We did have to commit as to whether or not we wanted to buy the still photos and DVD before the jump so the boys could get the necessary ready. To be honest we did feel these were expensive, despite the discount for buying both the stills and DVD together at 600 Rand each and there was no further reduction for both of us buying both but we couldn't see how you could do the jump without buying them so they get you there!! We were kitted up and were in the plane before we knew it!!
We were in the plane for 20 minutes getting to the 9000 feet and told to relax and take in the amazing scenery which really was breathtaking! Again the guys explained everything further and made sure we fully understood and before we knew it, we were out loving every minute!! They weren't remotely phased by my tears pre-jump and made sure I was perfectly happy before leaving the plane with my eyes wide open to ensure I didn't miss a thing!
After free falling for 30-35 secs the parachute was out and we were able to take the views in further for another 5ish minutes. Bevan let me 'take control' of the parachute for a bit which hubby was very jealous of and before we knew it we'd landed and wanted to do the whole thing again!!
The DVDs were quickly complied, to music, and are a fantastic momento of our jump for us to show off to friends of how brave we were!!
We couldn't recommend these guys highly enough and are so very grateful to Rob and Bevan for making it such an enjoyable experience for us. It's amazing how different these kind of trips can be if you don't feel comfortable with the guys you're putting your lives in the hands off. Can't thank them enough!! Now get booking up!!

We got there still asking ourselves why the hell we've decided to skydive. But once we've got there we got immediatly into the right skydive mood. Everybody's relaxed and these guys live for the free falling.
We've been perfectly informed and guided through the whole process of preparing, flying, jumping, flying and landing!
Great job.

I have to be honest when I rang my mate Ed and asked him if he was up for a skydive in Cape Town I was amazed when he said yes. After all this is a man who enjoys walking and probably the wildest thing he does is smack a fairway wood 250 yards to the centre of the green. Anyway I booked online thru their website and my communication was with Ronel.
Wednesday the 7th was to be the day and the night before both myself, Ed and his son Luke had a game to decide who would exit the plane from 10.000 feet first. It was to be me followed by Luke (Eds son ) and then Ed himself. After an uneasy night we got up early and drove the 2 hours from Hermanus to Skydive Capetown which entailed driving around the city until we were way out the the other side and at our destination. Once we had filled in the documentation etc we sat back and waited to be called for take off. We had a slight delay due to Air Traffic Control
closing the airspace for approx 30 minsutes. Our minds were put at ease by both watching previous jumpers on a promo video on the TV while we waited. Also, we were able to watch other jumpers land as they came back down to earth which looked brilliant on a clear blue sky day. Then we were called and after a quick bit of prep we were on our way. This is a tandem jump and I got Bev who I was hoping might be a good lookin female ! No such luck, and Bev if you're reading this I wouldn't swap your professional skydiving skills for anyone else.
We boarded a Sesna single engine plane (7 of us packed in including the pilot lol) and off we went. After about 20-25 inutes we were at 10000 ft and the views were fantastic - table mountain, Robben Island etc Just when you thought everything was relaxed and calm Bev said the word 'DOOR' and with that the door was pulled up and over. Time for ACTION !!!
Luke was first as it turned out and a look of fear came over his face and he was inched to the exit. Then..... he was gone ! Next up Ed and he looked pale. Too late mate and he was gone too. So, then its my turn.... Bev inched us to the door (by the way we were all attached to our individual jumpers !) he said just lean your head back which I duly did and then before I knew it we were out the door and WOW the ruh of air, the speed of the drop, the view absolutely brilliant. After about 30/40 maybe longer Bev pulled the chute and then its perfect silence along with amazing views. Bev landed the chute beautifully and that was an amazing jump. Something I reckon everyone should do in there lifetime. Check the guys out - Very Professionally run and a great attention to detail. After all they do have your life in there hands. Would I do it again ? You betya well done Skydive Cape Town

Hi,
My wife wants to skydive. We will be staying at Ritz Capetown around 13-15th Dec. Wanted to know about the price, pick up and drop facility, duration of event, area covered, best time of the day, height? She will be doing it for the first time.

This is my personal experience here but if you want an accurate answer, I'd suggest you to email the company and/or call them. They were very helpful for me :) We rented a car and drove to the location but I believe that they do have a pickup - just double check. It was about an hour in all - short plane ride, the falling bit isn't very long either. That + preparation before the jump and getting the CDs etc. must've taken about an hour. It was also my first time jumping - there's a great view of the coast from up there, it was very pretty :) Goodluck to her!
