Tough enough hike from the car park on Tafelberg Road, involves a fair bit of scrambling beyond the Saddle, but nothing beyond someone with a degree of fitness and accustomed to some exercise. Not a walk in the park but not “impossible” and I didn’t find the walk to be technically dangerous. View from the top worth all the effort. Table Mountain, Lions Head, Signal Hill, Robben Island, Hottentots, Muizenburg, Cape Point, Silvermine and all points between. Phenomenal. Take a windbreaker as pretty breezy up top. Should be up top on your Cape Town bucket list if you have the fitness. Plenty other routes up too.

This is personally my favorite hike in cape town because of the beauty of the rock formations and the greenery is 100x better than the others! Beware that if you come down a different path than the original trailhead that ubers will not be able to reach you as they can ONLY go the parking lot at the original trailhead. But DEFINITELY not a hike to miss!

This is probably the best view that you can find in Cape Town. From the cape-flats to the centrum to the ocean and Robbens Island. Absolutely stunning!! And more quite then table mountain. I took the trail from Devils Peak Estate area to Woodstock Cave and then to the top. Can recommend this track but put long jeans on while hiking this one. Allot bushes.

Get the best view of the Cape Town sunset, drive to the end of the road to get to the picnic spot. Nice for a couple or family evening

The route up Devil's peak is well marked, with the hike starting at the end of Tafelberg road approximately 2km passed the lower cable station.
It is not too strenuous a climb, but you need to be relatively fit. It is very dependable on the weather, with the winds having a more treacherous effect on this side of the mountain than on Table Mountain itself. We were once unable to reach the absolute top due too the extreme winds (had to kneel at places as the wind didn't even allow you to stand)
Overall Devil's Peak offers beautiful views and is a lot less crowded than the more popular Platteklip Gorge trail.

It was such a nice hike with the most amazing views. Unfortunately, when we returned to our car parked close to the starting point for Devil's peak, on Table mountain Road, it was broken into and our handbags were stolen out of the boot. No windows were broken, but they managed to break the front passenger door lock and open the boot from the latch inside. Very sad that such a nice day had to be spoiled by this. Even though we had no cash in our bags, the cost of replacing all your bank cards, licenses and ID's are expensive! Please take the minimum with you, even if you put it out of plain sight.

Coming from a relatively unfit person, I would say this hike is fairly difficult however it has incredibly spectacular views!
It took about 1 hour 45 mins to climb to the top, and I stopped multiple times to rest and take in the views.
It was a really fun way to spend a Saturday morning and I would definitely do it again next time I visit Cape Town.
All in all it is doable for almost anyone, if you're worried about it just take it slow and enjoy the hike.

Have done this hike multiple times, including for sunrise!
Easy to find the start just along Tafelberg road about 2km along from the cable car. Takes about 1.5 hours to get up going at an average pace, and then 1 hour down. Very windy at points along the way so be sure to take some extra layers as it can get chilly even on a warm day. The views from the top are amazing, you can see 360 degrees, down into city bowl, towards Stellenbosch and also across to Muizenburg + Cape Point.
For sunrise we set off from the bottom around 4:45, you'll need torches, we were up by 6:15 and had a beautiful 1 hour from first light to the sun actually being visible, lovely temperature at the top and we sat in a spot where we were sheltered from the wind. Would 100% recommend

I’m planning to hike solo on the Devils peak but I’m not sure about the safety and other concerns. Is a solo hike on the top favourable to do?

Hi :)
Did you go solo on the hike?
We were thinking of doing it also as a duo, but now we booked a guide because I've heard its better.
