Finest staff and a Hands On Manager at Bo Kaap Deli
Jan 2021 • Business
We had lunch at this coffee shop and deli. I ordered a roasted veg wrap and my friend had a chicken caesar salad. The meals were freshly prepared and presented by a friendly, smiling waiter. The owner Munereba is at the venue and is hands on. Unfortunately I only remembered to take a pic after we finished our meals. Blame it on Covid I have not been out in a while

Colorful must see
Jan 2021 • Family
What a rich history to view and experience by just walking around this beautiful architecture and vibrant colors.

Walked around with our young kids and felt very safe and welcomed by the friendly residents!

Beautiful and Sad
Dec 2020 • Family
I am glad that I went to see the Bo Kaap for myself, it truely is a beautiful area, but it is sad that rubbish was laying everywhere and that it is not maintained to tourist attraction standards.

Terrible, stay away
Sep 2020
It's a dangerous place, people haggling you for money, asking to watch over your car (unofficial) locals here have signs on their houses to protect the area (from what), I don't know.

Colourful
Jan 2020
We were brought here by our tour guide and it is worth a brief visit if you are passing. The houses are colourfully painted but there isn't a great deal to do once you have taken a few pictures.

Colourful break from mundane life
Dec 2019
When I first saw the colourful pictures I was thrilled and too excited to visit this place. The vibrant colours of the houses will instantly lift your spirit and enlighten your mood. Ironically, this place has a not so colourful history. Bo-Kaap was the home of slaves who were imported to the Cape by the Dutch during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. They reigned from Africa, Indonesia, Java Malaysia, and elsewhere in Asia. The houses were all so beautifully coloured that it gave the place such a picturesque look. The Bo-Kaap museum also has a nice collection of historical information about the place. There are shops in the area which have a huge collection of traditional African art.

Interesting to stroll around ...
Feb 2020
Interesting to stroll around this neighbourhood mainly because of the steep cobbled streets lined with coloured buildings, interspersed by Mosques. Because of the role played by the Malay community in the life of South Africa where the Islamic culture was embedded as from the 18th century onwards due to the slave community, I think it is worth the visit.

Picturesque Neighborhood
Jan 2020
We loved our walking tour of this unusual neighborhood. One of the neighbors come outside and spend some time with us talking about his life here. Very colorful houses on the hillside.

Its an ok site to see
Mar 2020
If you are in Cape Town and have some extra time and haven't seen Bo-kaap then its worth a drive by. But it's not a place to make great efforts to see at all costs. Its a few streets with authentic cobblestones and colorfully painted row houses.
