Go early, purchase tickets in advance, enjoy your stay, take many photos, be prepared to do some walking - 1.5-2 hours, then have lunch at their restaurant - fish and chips highly recommend, followed by a dessert.

Taking the cable car to the top of Table Mountain is definitely a must do activity while in Cape Town. In the summer months when the weather is generally good, buying tickets in advance will save you time on cueing for tickets, but not on waiting for the cable car. During busy times, cues can easily be 2 to 3 hrs for the cable car, so come prepared with water, sunscreen, and sunhats. During the less busy shoulder seasons such as spring and fall, I'd recommend to get tickets on the spot, as the weather is more unpredictable. Wait for a nice, clear day, and then go up the maintain. We went up on a cloudless day in early May, and as it was such a beautiful day, it seemed like every single tourist in Cape Town was going up with the cable car at the same time. There was no cue for tickets but about an hour long cue to go up with the cable car. Please note that there is no need to rush to get ahead of others and/or crowd the doorways of the cable car to get in first so you can have the best spot for photos. The floor of the cable car gently rotates, so that everybody will get to see the same views. A the top of the mountain the views are spectacular. Its nice to wander around and enjoy the nature and the scenery. but it can be very windy up there so bring a jacket to have handy no matter what the season. There are food/beverage/bathroom facilities and a gift shop. How much time you need at the top will vary for everybody but 1 to 2 hrs is a good guideline, unless the weather turns bad or the winds are very strong.

Incredible scenery with views of Cape Town, Cape of Good Hope and points in between. We had perfectly clear weather and enjoyed walking around. Much more hiking/walking at the top than we expected. And the cable car itself, with rotating floor, was itself worth the trip.

WOW. The views are absolutely to die for.

Be sure to bring your camera, a pair of comfortable shoes (I made the mistake of wearing heeled boots - don't be like me LOL), and SUNBLOCK (I can't stress this enough! Hats and sunblock!! Even and especially if it is cloudy!).

I was impressed with how the staff handled the heavy flow of people at the facilities and the long queue. We didn't stand in line nearly as long as we anticipated.

I wanted to give this experience a 5-star rating, BUT we would've loved to eat at the top of Table Mountain at the restaurant, Ten-67, but it felt like a massive rip-off since all the prices were pumped up to match the elevation we were at. (To name a few examples: A Monster energy drink usually costs around R19,99, but here they asked R60. A boerewors roll would usually cost you between R40-R50 max, but here they charged a WHOPPING R145 ..... for a BOEREWORS ROLL!)

Despite that unfortunate fact, this was a beautiful experience, and I would HIGHLY recommend that you take the time and effort to feast your eyes on the glorious views of Cape Town.

Do not miss out on this. Spectacular views all around, interesting vegetation and they even had rappelling up there for active ones. We highly recommend to buy the fast track, it will save you lots of time. Another tip wait until the clouds break on the day you’re going. More than I expected and it is one of the new seven wonders of the world.

We were so lucky. Landed in Cape Town, settled into the hotel. We checked current queue for the cable car and it said 5 mins and the weather was glorious, so we called an uber and true enough, bought the tickets and was rapidly in the cable car. Great experience, amazing views, thank you

This was first stop on tour. Despite cloudy conditions was a wonderful experience. The clouds were kind of cool. Once got to the top, saw wonderful views. Because of clouds, which isn’t ideal, less crowds which was great in my opinion. If you want “perfect” conditions, wait for less cloudy day, but be prepared for clouds. Definitely have to do this if visiting Cape Town especially if a visit here is once in a lifetime!

Outstanding view and ride up to the top of table mountain. The Swiss really know how to do these gondolas. The cab rotated while we were in it, so everyone gets a view of the mountain and vista as we ride up to the top.

Availability is greatly dependent on weather. We had a full day tour planned and our guide had this as the first stop. However, the morning clouds would have been blocking any view, even if the cableway was running. Thus, we took the risk and go going another direction in hopes when we returned to town conditions would be better...we got lucky! Late afternoon we rolled back into town and the cableway was running with clear skies. Our queue was short...it is such a fun ride up/down, the view amazing...truly a Cape Town MUST!
