Some lovely restaurants but if you find yourself here after 10pm you can guarantee you will be mugged. We went twice this week and experienced two attempted muggings. In one instance we were 5 friends and were surrounded by about 12 men in the middle...More

Have a day to spare in Kaapstad? Wander around long street. You'll find nice shops and great bars and restaurants.

It’s certainly worth a visit and a stroll around, but the begging has an edge to it, even during the daytime. Avoid eye contact and walk with purpose - they will follow you for quite some time. Keep valuables out of sight, or don’t take...More

Lots of great places to eat and drink at reasonable prices with good atmosphere. You might be approached by beggars but just ignore them and walk on. Scam artists about, so be aware. There are many security guards in green uniforms who are provided by...More

I've frequented eateries and watering holes up and down Long Street for many years. Watch your camera, don't flash your phone and do not engage drug pedlars. If they hear a foreign accent they will stick to you like a nit. Stay alert and walk...More

A happening area with some nice stores and very good restaurants. Located in the old section of Cape Town. Gets very busy at night with the clubs and bars.

This is a busy street with lots of stores and restaurants. The city site seeing tour bus office is also found in the lower end of the street. However what stood out more for me on this street was the amount of beggars here and...More

I would recommend Long street for anyone who is looking for clubs/bars at night. Week nights on long street are fairly calm and is a good time to go if you want a relaxing evening. It truly comes to life on Friday and Saturday nights...More

General rule of thumb, everything in CT closes at 7/8pm unless in the Waterfront. But long street bars and clubs are open till late.

Also agree with TravelfeetZA : i won't do shopping on this street. Keep a one hour walking to visit it and then have diner somewhere and some bar music. That's it! There is nothing special on this street for shopping.
