An easy and very pleasant experience at Noordhoek. Was long enough to be fun, but not so long that it was too tiring. Would recommend.

Enjoyed my ride but the advertised 'beach ride' was short lived. The hour and a half ride took at least 35 minutes to get to the beach then maybe 20 minutes up and back the beach then 35 minutes back. Scrub land to get to the beach, not very interesting really. Horses quite calm and generally obedient. They looked in fairly good condition. 2 guides were jolly but not terribly helpful, expecially as I told them one lady in front of me was really nervous and was having trouble controlling her horse. They didn't seem worried or help her in any way. Shame.
When trying on helmet at the beginning I thought mine was on the loose side but the bloke said "don't worry we're only walking the horses"!! Not really the point!!! Was exceptionally hot, they could have provided some water would have been useful. Advertised as you must wear long trousers, one of the party had shorts on! No point in having rules then??
It was OK, not all bad but the experience could have been better.

I booked a solo holiday to Cape Town and was desperate to trek . Horse Riding Cape Town is an booking agency run by the very patient Stephanie . You tell her your requirements ie fast pace ?, slow notice pace ,beach ride ,vineyard etc and she will taylor to your needs.excellent service indeed .
You then pay in advance to agency

All this information I didn’t know and tried to research so I’m now passing on my experience to other travelers.

Firstly I was driven to Franschhoek which is inland and incredibly hot . Water and lotion a must .
Rusty my guide was incredible. We went out on a two hour private trail . The scenery was lovely . We rode through the olive vines and grape vines . We picked juicy plums fresh from the vines . Tennessee my chestnut mare was a delight. We cantered and its clear that Tennessee enjoyed her work
Thank you to all

Next stop was Yzterfountein . 1.5 hours from 1st ride . The beach was amazing. Dominique was so friendly and lovely. My mare was an Arab
called Cassie . She was forward and accommodating. We galloped along a beautiful stretch of beach . Dominique took lots of videos and pictures. We saw giraffe, zebra , buffalo. It was amazing
Thanks to my driver .
Well worth doing this

My 9 year old and husband did the west coast beach ride and had an amazing time! They both ride back home but this was the first time my daughter had galloped and what a fabulous location to do it!! Dominique was lovely and took lots of videos and photos which she shared with us afterwards as well as some lovely souvenirs to take home. Highly recommend!

Me and my friend absolutely loved our horse ride on the beach. As two experienced riders with horses at home it was great to be able to have a canter on the beautiful beach we was taken to. Dominique and helpers were very friendly, interactive and made us feel comfortable and at ease. The horses were lovely and had personality which we liked! Would definitely go again if returning to Cape Town!

We had a private horse ride with Dominique in Stellenbosch. After an hour ride, we had a very nice late afternoon lunch with wine, bread, cheese and fruit (specially arranged for me ‘cause I don’t like cheese).
Dominique is a very lovely lady, the horses are very sweet (Magic & Merlin).
Special thanks for Stephanie. We asked for a date/time that was not available. She did everything to find a date and time that suited us and due to that we had an unforgettable horse ride 😃

Thanks

Me and my mom (both experienced but retired horse riders) had booked the vineyard trail from 3,5 hours including wine tasting. Arriving at the location we had a warm welcome from Dominiek and Marily and a bunch of dogs. Dont forget to bring cash because they dont have card option!
We were both a perfect match with our horses. Who are very well taken care off and trained. It was only us together with the guides. So we could do everything at our own phase. The trail through the vineyards is breathtaking. And the winetasting itself also very nice (even though my mom does not drink alcohol, they made here a special coffee). Dominiek also brings extra water for along the way!
We are in love with this place and the horses and highly recommend it to anyone who loves to do something different than the typical whine tasting! Also suitable if you are less experienced

They try to have a guide separate for each booking if experienced riders. As a result we had a lovely day through the foothills and vineyards plus a good lunch and wine tasting all at our pace. And a nice splash in a lake even if our guide may have got a little too wet.

Good day! Thank you so much for your review. We're so glad you enjoyed your experience in the Winelands. You're absolutely right, for our experienced riders we usually recommend the more challenging outrides with more time spent in the saddle. We hope to see you again in future if you decide to come back to our beautiful Western Cape, South Africa. Warm wish, The Horse Riding Cape Town Team

Me and my wife decided to have our honeymoon in South Africa and it was the best decision. We booked the 3.5hr package, which consists of 2hrs horseback riding and 1.5hrs of wine tasting paired with cheese and bread platter. The scenic view through the vineyards while on a horse is breathtaking. Dominique (hoped I spelled her name correctly) and her staff were very friendly/pleasant and great conversationalist. Please if your ever in the area this event is a must do.

Cheers,
Aaron

Although we considered ourselves experienced riders my partner and I had not been on board a horse for 25 years. We booked ourselves a half day ride around the vineyards with lunch and wine tasting. This was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our trip to South Africa. We had just the best time. The horses behaved themselves and were well mannered but also keen to get on with the job so we're a pleasure to ride. Our guide was great and made it feel like it was a pleasure to be out with us. I would thoroughly recommend anyone to give it a go. We were stiff for the next two days but we're expecting that!!!!! Thank you again for a lovely day
