Located right at the V&A Waterfront this is a great place to spend a few hours. It's well laid out and very interesting.

I bought tickets online through their website and went on April 14, 2014 surprised to find a letter on the door indicating the venue has been closed. Please check to see if the venue is back up and running before you buy tickets.

We went to see the show at the Waterfront in Feb 2014, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The dancers were great, full of energy and very engaging. Musicians also very good. It only lasts an hour, but is well worth seeing. A great showcase of African culture.

The V&A Waterfront version of the African Dance Theatre is weak. Just not what I was expecting in terms of African dance(s). Dancers appeared unprofessional and unauthentic. The food was good though.

Almost broke a sweat just watching them. We just ordered drinks and there was no pressure to order food. Awesome show, will defiantly go again if we have the chance to return to Cape Town.

Went to see this show in their new venue at Moyo restaurant at the Waterfront. There was no pressure to eat. We sat and had a few cocktails and thoroughly enjoyed the one hour show.It is both entertaining and exhilarating - such energy - I would highly recommend it.

First visit 30.12.13
Absolutely worth a visit!! I really really loved the show! So much energy and happiness at once!
The show is made up of four scenes which are explained in the program you get when entering the theatre. The summaries of the scenes are essential to all those who don't speak the different African languages you'll hear during this show. But once you read them the scenes and songs make sense :)
It is incredible how energetic these guys are, really! Great voices, fabulous dances and the band!! Amazing!! If you ask me that is :)
I loved the show and can recommend it to young and old, families and friends, couples or just you by yourself!

Update second visit 03.01.2014
Because I loved the dance theatre so much I decided to visit again only a few days later which now I wish I wouldn’t have done. The show isn’t on Long Street anymore, it moved to Moyo at the V&A Waterfront, which is not a theatre but a restaurant, so people are seated around tables and depending on your table you might be turned with your back to the stage plus people in the back have less chances to see the show. Other than that some tables up front were reserved but people have never been seated there while others sat in the back having difficulties to see the show. Together with the fact that we were told we could only order food after the show while others were served during the show just gave me the impression that things weren’t as well organized. The show of course was the same but the whole setting and environment just made it much less enjoyable if you ask me. From 5 to 3 stars because as it is now I think money isn’t well spent at all because the show (which was great!) isn’t the focus anymore. Too bad :(

We had really been looking forward to our visit here. This was a very entertaining and yet, knowledgeable experience. Within the one hour that we stayed at this place, we got to know about the culture of Africa, about its people and their traditions. The music was exhilarating. What was commendable were the performance of the artists; they were so full of energy, so much grace and vitality, you would feel like joining them on the stage. The foot taping music was like food for the soul and a treat for the ears. The beats and the rhythm were intoxicating.
