Its a lot smaller that I imagined. Yes there are trinkets etc. but become repetitive after you've walked a bit. Some of the stall vendors are outright rude but some are nice. Would skip it if I were pressed for time.

This Green market square has like a flee market where the traders/ vendors sell hand crafts stuff mostly of African origin. We found out that the prices are extremely expensive.. We visited as our hotel was close by.

It is must see market for lovers of traditional art and craft. A large number of vendors selling hand crafted giraffes, rhinos, lions, and other animals, all the big five. Good to see and good to buy as souvenirs, but be sure to bargain (...More

This square once was lovely but has over the last decade been invaded by traders from elsewhere who mostly sell rubbish artifacts. Alos go to the middle part of Church Street (which is closed to traffic) but do not walk over Long street, there is...More

We visited the market as it was close to our hotel. The stalls are all similar selling cheap tourist souvenirs where you get constantly hassled. There are many better places to buy this type of stuff in Cape Town.

I've been coming to Greenmarket Square since childhood & although it still has its magical charm, it has sadly become a market where most stalls sell the same thing & the vendors harass you so much that it makes it unpleasant. If it weren't for...More

I love Cape Town but Greenmarket Square is really just a flea-market. No doubt tourists to South Africa will get more out of this than I did, so by no means is this a definitive review, so if you are looking for a place to...More

A lot of souvenirs that are hand made. Typical flea market with stalls. People are friendly and pleasant to deal with. Take cash (Rand) and bargain with the sellers if you want an item. If you have limited time in the Cape Town area it...More

A great collection of stalls with inexpensive souvenir items to take home. But the quality of goods is average, and there are better shops in Cape Town to find unique and special crafts and art goods. However, it's enjoyable to walk around and to people...More

Everybody seems to have the same African prints, bowls, animals, and other touristy items. Make sure you negotiate the prices start out high.

Officially, 9am-5pm, but they'll sell earlier if you're there with money and they'll start closing up at 4 if it's a slow day.

9 to 5 according to their website. Be cautious and watchful in this area. We witnessed a necklace snatching and credit card theft just feet from the market perimeter. Once inside the perimeter security is tight.

No, they won't ship unless you buy inside a store, which might be more expensive, but sometimes they can surprise you with great bargains. There are plenty around the market. And if you fin something outside, It is always... More
