Zade and Zolfa were awesome- their mom also! Enjoyed the tour Of the area, particularly by somebody who lives there and has strong family roots for many generations. Really enjoyed seeing their house and being welcomed in. Thank you for accommodating us on a Sunday. We had a fantastic time and it was a memorable experience in the food was delicious. Really appreciated the hands-on and being able to do the cooking ourselves!

Great cultural experience
Mar 2020
After a very informative tour and history of the Bo-Kaap area, and visit to the spice shop, we had great fun learning about the Cape Malay cuisine in the very capable hands of Zayed and Zainie. Our efforts to make samosas, dhaltjies, rooti and curry were encouraged, even when they did not quite come up to the standards of our generous hosts! And the best bit - we got to eat it afterwards. We would recommend this tour to any visitors to Cape Town.

We loved being welcomed into the home after a walking tour of Bo Kaap, and learning the history of the area. The food was completely delicious, and they accommodated me as a pescatarian.
So much fun, can’t recommend enough.

Incredible Experience!

AMAZING! This is one of the best tours I’ve ever done. Zayed, Zoelfaa and Zainie were incredible teachers and hosts. The food we learned to cook was so delicious as we got to eat it for lunch afterwards. You really should do yourself a favour and book this tour if you’re coming to Cape Town. So nice to have such an amazing experience in a local home with such genuine friendly people. The food was a bonus really. Thank guys LOVED it!

Beautiful deco, excellent service , right by the sea.Food was outstanding / we shared a seafood platter of mussels , prawns and calamari- great value. The other couple had bouillabaisse which he said was better than Marseille and the 4th person had salmon which was beautifully presented .We have been twice and would highly recommend it.

A truly authentic experience
Dec 2019 • Couples
The tour guide was knowledgeable about the area and a great communicator. He had first hand experience of growing up in the Bo-Kaap. The history and current affairs he shared regarding the Bo-Kaap community were very interesting and helpful. The cooking and eating experience was authentically Cape Malay. You go to a home in the Bo-Kaap and cook in their kitchen. The family were friendly and hospitable and well organized. In terms of the cooking class, you won’t get your own cooking station/utensils etc. There were 13 of us and we all participated in preparing one meal together. The celebrity chef was present in the home but did not participate in the teaching or the cooking. To take away, you get the recipes that you prepared in a small booklet and enough mixed spice to prepare one curry. It may be a little overpriced, but overall we enjoyed the experience and happy to support a local small business. Fewer people in the class and each having their own station to prepare a dish from scratch would make the experience even better.
