Great trip put together by Clive. Day 1 was all about Cape Town and Day 2 travelling through the West Coast National Park visiting the Fossil Park and Khwa Ttu amongst other places. Kyle guided us through these 2 days and was everything you would want. Very engaging, knowledgable, gets you around on time and is fun to be with. I highly recommend their services and we would have no hesitation in using them again.

Kyle was the Best tour guide ever! He ended up a friend by the end of our trip. He knew all the tips and tricks of traveling in South Africa! He took us to the most wonderful beautiful places away from the crowds. He knew times that the tours would not be crowded. He also sprinkled in the reality of South Africa. It was a wonderful trip and I give a lot of credit to Kyle!

First of all, we wish to give our special thanks to Clive De Bruyne and his team for an absolute perfect organisation of our trip to Cape Town!!
From the first moment of contact we felt the passion for offering exclusively tailored private tours for their guests, not to forget the warm welcome and farewell at the airport.

Then, for 4 full day tours Kyle was our personal guide and from the first moment we met we felt being in very good hands.

All our tours were perfectly planned. Kyle showed us the most important and beautiful places, took us to fantastic restaurants and was extremely attentive and helpful whenever we asked for something.

We loved Table Mountain, walking through Kirstenbosch Gardens, driving along Chapman’s Peak down to the Cape Point.
We were simply thrilled by meeting ostriches, seals, penguins, baboons and dassies.
Kyle drove us to the wine lands.
We loved Stellenbosch from the first moment and then on top the winery where Kyle had booked our first wine tasting-
absolutely amazing place!!

We especially enjoyed the Overberg tour, whale watching in Hermanus and 2 more wine tastings in Heaven and Earth valley. All just overwhelming and well organised, the vineyards and the mountains-
awesome and unforgettable.

Our guide Kyle is an amazing person with excellent knowledge of the country’s history and social structures.
We have learnt a lot about this beautiful country and its people.
Kyle is professional and flexible at any time, attentive and most helpful in every respect- not to forget his big sense of humour!!
Moreover, he’s a good and safe driver.

We had much fun in these days and left as friends…..for sure we will return !!!

Clive was the most amazing guide - we have had many private guides over the years, but he tops the list for sure. We felt like we had a new friend after only a few hours, and we were lucky enough to spend 3 wonderful days with him. He is so friendly and kind, was extremely responsive over the 5 years I planned the trip with him (postposed 3 times due to covid!). He had great suggestions for what to do, and we really enjoyed all the activities, despite some nasty weather. We did the Cape drive, went to Stellenbosch, had a cheetah encounter, and went whale watching in Hermanus. The best part is how thoughtful he is: I had bought 2 large painted ostrich eggs (which are sold everywhere are are beautiful) but after they were carefully wrapped by the sellers in bubble wrap they were enormous. No way they were going to fit in the duffles we had to bring due to a safari with a bush plane prior to CapeTown. I told Clive I needed a cheap suitcase, and he kept trying to find me one everywhere we went while we were enjoying various activities. Finally, on the last day, while we were shopping in Hermanus (for MORE things to pack!) he picked us up with a huge grin, pulling my new perfect cheap suitcase! I remain very grateful for it, as I ended up filling it completely when we went to the other places on our trip. I cannot recommend Clive highly enough - don't look any further, just book him!

Amazing! Spend two full days with Kyle. Both were fantastic. Day 1 was Cape of Good Hope, Penguins, and Table Mountain.
Day 2 was ALL wineries. All were beautiful in their own right.
Kyle did an excellent job of customizing our tours in Cape Town.

Today I had the absolute pleasure of going on a solo tour of the Cape peninsula. My guide, a former geography teacher, was encyclopedic in his knowledge of the local history, geology, and flora and fauna. He had a remarkable knack for spotting the wildlife too - I am sure I would have had only half the experience without him there to guide me.

Our conversation was engaging, and my guide showed great interest in my experiences too. The entire outing was really easy going, I never felt rushed, and my guide seemed to prevent my interests. He encouraged me to take my time on the hike at the Cape of Good Hope, so I felt I had all the time in the world to clamber down to the absolutely stunning Dias Beach, where I had the entire place to myself.

As mentioned, my guide was great at spotting the wildlife - and we encountered many more species than I had been expecting: baboons, elands, ostriches, penguins, birds of prey, lizards, seals, and more. But the most memorable part of the trip was undoubtedly the incredible vistas.

From our first meeting at Cape Town Int'l Airport to our final goodbyes, Kyle and Clive at The Cape Town Tour Guide Co. made our short time in the Western Cape both seamless and unbelievably unforgettable.

Being a Type A traveller and having a somewhat planned itinerary of our 5 nights in Cape Town and the Winelands, it was easy to open a friendly dialogue with Kyle, of whom we spent a majority of our time with, asking for his personal thoughts on what we wanted to do, see, explore, and dine at.

So that would be my first tip – say what you are thinking and share the expectations you have for each day – the more you communicate those things, the better Kyle and Clive can suggest and curate timeline, cadence, additional points of interest or activities, and tips of their own.

Let's take a second to talk about challenges and how beautifully The Cape Town Tour Guide Co. navigated the issues we encountered. Traveling as a group is not always the easiest, dealing with multiple flights from different origins, especially when those flights are delayed – and not just once, but twice. Which leads me to my second tip – If you are flying from the U.S. and are trying to decide between United and Delta, NEVER choose United Airlines – period.

My husband and I, along with another couple, flew from Fort Lauderdale, via Atlanta, arriving in Cape Town before the first couple was scheduled to arrive. The short of it was that the first couple, my sister-and-brother-in-law, were to arrive on United almost 2 hours ahead of us, and instead, they experienced two separate delays that cause them to arrive 2 DAYS later.

I mention this because Kyle remained vigilant in communicating with us as we received updates on their flight. After the first flight cancellation, we rearranged the next day's itinerary so that the delayed couple would not miss out on what we thought would be the most memorable activities in Cape Town. His flexibility and availability helped us make the best decisions we could without misusing the time we had, even without the other couple.

That guidance and flexibility continued after we received word the next evening that their flight had, yet again, been cancelled, ultimately leading to their two-day delayed arrival. Their time in Cape Town was eventually cut short to a half-day, and we again had to adjust our activities so we could make the most of it upon their arrival.

Back to the main story – from the airport, we dialogued about what was then our current schedule of events while in route to the One&Only located on the V&A Waterfront. Being a late afternoon arrival, there was only a short time to unwind before our dinner at The Test Kitchen Fledglings located at The Old Biscuit Mill – which we highly recommend (easy Uber ride less than 10 minutes from our hotel).

We met with Kyle the next morning where, instead of our planned cable car ride up to Table Mountain, we headed to the Platteklip Gorge trailhead to start our hike to the top. Our reorganized plan was to meet Kyle at the summit, where two hours later we took in the panoramas, snapped photos, enjoyed a beer, and then rounded it off by riding the cable car back down with a short walk to our vehicle.

While the seasons were still in transition between winter and spring and we had temperate October weather, the next tip would be to get an early start on the hike, bringing both water and sunscreen – and if you have a tight schedule, use Kyle's advice and take the 5 minute ride down via cable car. Do keep an eye on the weather and wind so you don't mistime your ascent and descent.

After a quick trip to the hotel to freshen up, Kyle took us on a nice drive along the route to Camps Bay. Unfortunately for us and the area as a whole, a storm had washed out the scenic Chapman's Peak drive and therefore closed for the next few months, so that is something we hope to experience on a future visit. We enjoyed cocktails and lunch at Bilboa, walked across the street to the beachfront, and took in the view of the mountain we just hiked before heading back to the V&A Waterfront.

It should be noted that during each journey from point-to-point, we learned more and more about the areas, neighborhoods, history – both the good and the bad, current climate and more. Kyle's insight both personal and observational was something unexpected that made our trip even more memorable and meaningful. It made it feel more immersive to have some sense of understanding versus simply being tourists.

We parted ways in the afternoon and later enjoyed dinner at PIER at The Waterside, also highly recommended.

The delayed couple was finally joining us the next morning. Having made adjustments to our schedule, the four of us decided to add a sunrise hike up Lion's Head before their arrival – which we also highly recommend if you are able. Later that morning, Kyle successfully reunited us, and our Cape Town group was finally made whole, and we were finally able to exhale and enjoy One&Only's stunning breakfast offering together before continuing our adventure.

The morning brought us through a scenic mountain drive to our first stop at Boulders Beach. After a general visit along the boardwalk to see the African Penguins, we were guided by Kyle to what felt like a less-known experience. You will have to book a trip with Kyle & Clive for the specific details on that! As a tip to those visiting the penguins at Boulders Beach, don't be a jerk and hop over the railings like we saw a couple people do. TikTok videos are not reason to act like that.

After our visit with the penguins, we made our way to the Cape Winelands. Just as we discussed our Cape Town plans, we chatted with Kyle about our itinerary for our time in Franschhoek and Stellenbosch, and he excitedly insisted that we make time to stop at his favorite winery before arriving at our next accommodation.

We quickly agreed, and as we meandered our way through the mountains and worked our way down an unsuspecting valley road, what met our eyes was more than any Google search could have done justice to. Our first tasting experience at Oldenburg Vineyards set the bar for future tastings, hospitality, and scenery during our two-and-a-half days in the Cape Winelands.

It was so nice, we visited twice. So take this tip to heart, and do not skip Oldenburg.

After almost three hours at Oldenburg, we had a short drive to our next stay at Leeu Estates – incredible accommodations, service, grounds, and vistas, an estate that we wished we would have had more time to explore. From there, we were supposed to part ways with Kyle till he returned the following afternoon with our fourth and final couple. Instead, and because his schedule allowed, Kyle was able to extend our time with us for half of the next day, making for easy transport to our next three stops.

After breakfast, Kyle brought us to our first winery of the day – one that was chosen mainly for the views and not necessarily the wine. We made a quick visit of our time at Stark-Condé, as nothing from the experience was memorable aside from the tasting room that picturesquely sat in the middle of their private pond.

From there, we made our way to the Delaire Graff Estate. Go for the views and the grounds. While there are enjoyable and notable wines to taste – we did both the Estate Range and Icon offerings – the distasteful pitch to purchase tainted the experience. So go with that in mind.

With hundreds of wineries in the region, our itinerary was not initially driven by quality of wine, but more so the overall experience, views, grounds, and ease of location. Our last stop of the day was at Boschendal, where we had picnic reservations in lieu of a wine tasting. It's there that Kyle dropped us off before making his way to collect our last couple.

It should be noted that the Boschendal picnic was exactly what we needed, having chosen a quiet spot under the trees, next to the pond and gazebo, with stunning views of the mountains surrounding the estate. The picnic basket contained a perfectly curated lunch, with more than we could have expected. While we could not stay for the night market that evening, it was nice to explore part of the grounds as the vendors were setting up for the event.

Our last day in the Cape Winelands was spent without Kyle. We opted for a touristy experience on the Franschhoek Wine Tram along the Orange Line and skipped directly to Baccō Estate, one of the newer wineries in the region. We were more than pleased with the service, beautiful architecture, colorful grounds, and the wines as well. For a change, it was us who recommended to Kyle that he make it a point to visit Baccō.

At Baccō, we collectively decided to scrap the remainder of our schedule and, instead, returned to Oldenburg Vineyards – not only because we so thoroughly enjoyed our first visit, but also that our newest couple could share in the experience. To Kyle's compliment, it certainly did not disappoint the second time around.

For our final morning in the Western Cape, we were greeted by Kyle and our transportation to the airport. We recapped our visit, exchanged stories, and left with a sense of friendship and not one of a transactional relationship. From start to end, The Cape Town Tour Guide Co. – both Kyle and Clive – made us feel that they had a vested interest in how we spent our short time there, made us feel well taken care of, and made us feel that we were always welcomed back. If there were a higher rating available, we would undoubtedly give them those top marks and more.

Clive is a fabulous driver/guide. He is engaging, attentive, solicitous, accommodating -- an absolute delight. On our first outing -- a day exploring the Cape, he surprise us with champagne to celebrate our honeymoon. He gave us plenty of time to explore Simon's Town as it has film connections for Ray. He tailored our next day of winery touring choosing a great winery for whites as well as two black-South African-owned wineries. We cannot over recommend CLIVE -- just the BEST!!!

What an amazing amazing trip. This would not have been possible without Clive from Cape Town Tour Guide Company and mostly especially to the guide Gavin. I have used Gavin on numerous occasions, he goes above and beyond to make sure that every request is met and that we did not loose an opportunity to get some activities done. He follows the weather and makes changes where necessary, took care of any rescheduling and rebooking of activates or restaurant bookings.

I would definitely highly recommend Clive and Gavin and will use them again.

We spent a 14 day family vacation in South Africa in September. After we had expressed our wishes, the planning was completely in the hands of Clive De Bruyne. My wife, daughter and I cannot thank Clive enough for excellent planning and a wonderful holiday. For the safari we wanted, he recommended the Notten’s Bush Camp in Sabi Sands and booked us there. This lodge and the stay there not only met our expectations but far exceeded them. It was really difficult for us to leave after five days. The second part of the trip began in Cape Town, where Clive met us at the airport and chauffeured us to the hotel. The day tour to Wineland including Stellenbosch and Franschhoek with wine tasting was well planned, as was the tour the next day to the Cape Point and the penguins in Simons Town. Because there are a lot of whales in Walker Bay at this time of year, Clive recommended and booked us an early morning tour from Hermanus for whale watching. It meant getting up very early in Cape Town. Since the sea was increasingly moving in the morning, we were very happy about Clive's advice to take the first departure in the morning. The transfer to the airport was again very punctual. We can recommend Clive to all travelers without reservation and there is no question for us that we will plan another possible stay in South Africa with Clive De Bruyne.
