My wife and I were on a long cruise that ended in Cape Town on January 21. We initially booked a 1-day hiking tour with Clive, in Cape of Good Hope park, for January 22. During the cruise, we contacted Clive about adding a half-day Cape Town tour on the day our ship arrived. He created a great itinerary that day, meeting us at the ship when we disembarked and stopping by our hotel so we could drop off our luggage (for safety, in caee someone decided to break into his care while it was parked during the walking parts of our tour). He even pre-purchased Table Mountain tickets so we could go that afternoon after our tour with him (and he suggested which trails we should hike on the mountain). The next day, we got an early start and beat the tour buses into the park. I had bought a hiking map and thought I figured our the best way to hike the two trails we had in mind, but Clive rearranged the day so we were more efficient. After the hikes, he brought us to Harbour House restaurant for a nice lunch. We liked Clive so much that we asked him to plan tours for us when we are back in Cape Town in March 2021. He was great to deal with, very quick with email replies, very informative, booking and paying were simple, and we had a great time. Well done Clive!

From the first phone call to the last goodbye- Clive made sure he covered every detail of our 5 day journey in Cape Town. We were 2 couples visiting Cape Town, 2 of us for the 1st time, 1 had been there before and 1 who grew up in Cape Town. He listened to our ideas of what we wanted to do- added his suggestions and gave us a fabulous itinerary. From making sure we got the 1st cable car up table mountain, seeing the penguins at Boulders beach, wine tasting in Stellenbosch, and ending with a professional and safe tour through the Langa township to name a few, Clive had a professional, informative and fun trip planned for us. Clive took us to his local favourite coffee shops to start our day, was able to share his wealth of knowledge about Cape Town and didn’t miss any highlights. He always took his time and never rushed us. Clive is personable and from the start- made you feel like you knew him for years. Clive is definitely the guide you are looking for to make your trip to Cape Town one to remember forever.

This is a two-part review. One on Clive De Bruyne as a guide and the excellent service he provide and the 2nd on observations in travelling to Cape Town during COVID. In short, we could not have asked for a better guide than Clive De Bruyne. My experience with Clive started about 6 weeks prior to arrival in Cape Town. I emailed with him a few times and immediately he came up with the exact itinerary we were looking for. He was quick to respond and went above & beyond what was expected. We wanted to try a few different restaurants and he provided candid feedback which helped tailor our choices. When our flight from Rwanda to Cape Town was cancelled about two weeks prior to travel, Clive emailed me immediately with recommended alternatives.
Throughout our time in Cape Town, you could tell Clive has an absolute passion for what he does and the service he provides as a tour guide. He was timely every morning and clearly explained our itinerary and adjusted as needed to some of our specific requests and needs. There were three of us, two of whom were my 82 year old parents and Clive could not have been more patient and helpful.
Clive has a thorough knowledge of South African history and allowed for a respectful discussion on the different challenges SA faces today. He was always pleasant. His Mercedes Van was always clean and presented well. He exceeded our expectations and I cannot recommend him highly enough and I can be tough to please.
On travelling to SA during Covid.....all I can say that is as long as you are smart about it, Go For It !! This applies to vaccinated folks. I don't know if I'd travel there unvaccinated. While you read horror stories about what is currently going on in SA, on an individual/private tour and with Clive's expertise, you are able to avoid most of these problem areas. We wore masks into and out of establishments and tourist spots as did the other tourists we encountered and it was perfectly fine. We had literally zero line at Table Mountain and the ferry to Robbins Island was only half capacity. In our visit to wine country, we nearly had private experiences everywhere we went.
While travelling to SA during Covid may seem daunting, my 82 year old parents and I had an absolutely wonderful time and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. For those willing to put fear aside and to not listen to all of the media noise, you are in for an absolute treat of very few car on the roads; limited tourists everywhere you go and overall very thankful SA residents that you have made the effort to visit their country during challenging times.

I have spent a great day with Clive on a Peninsula Tour. Everything was perfect starting from the first contact when Clive responded very quickly and provided all the necessary information. The tour itself was even better than I had imagined. Clive showed me all the great places and explained a lot to me about life in South Africa which I really appreciated. He knows the best spots and was very attentive whenever I wanted to make a stop to take a picture. A highlight was our lunch at a great fish restaurant where all the locals go. If you are in Cape Town I would really recommend spending some extra money to do a private tour – you will get a much more authentic experience compared to driving around in a tourist bus.

Certainly I was a bit reluctant at first booking a guide over the internet, but after 10 minutes we knew we had the right decision.
In planning the trip, we had ideas of things we wanted to do, but Clive helped us fill out the weeks itinerary and even managed to re-arrange activities when the weather dictated.
Clive was extremely professional, while also being a lot of fun to travel with. He arrived every morning on time with the van in immaculate condition and with supplies for our day.
Our group of 5 all had a wonderful time and everyone of us would heartily recommend Clive to anyone looking for a wonderful and informative week in the Capetown area.
In planning the trip, we had ideas of things we wanted to do, but Clive helped us fill out the weeks itinerary and even managed to re-arrange activities when the weather dictated.
Clive was extremely professional, while also being a lot of fun to travel with. He arrived every morning on time with the van in immaculate condition and with supplies for our day.

We were touring the Garden Route and had limited time in Cape Town so decided to book a tour guide to get the most from our stay - we are so glad that we did and even more happy that we chose Clive to help with our plans.
Communication around booking and prior to arrival was great, we contacted Clive with some ideas about what we'd like to see and he planned it all out, fitting it into the time we had available plus adding a couple of suggestions of his own.
Clive arrived promptly at our hotel and made the day flexible to ensure we were able to go up Table Mountain earlier than planned (as high winds were forecast for later). He was excellent company, extremely knowledgable about Cape Town and the surrounding area - everything from local flora and fauna to a good place to stop for a coffee and he even helped us make dinner reservations for that evening.
We cannot recommend the Cape Town Tour Guide Co highly enough and Clive in particular for making the start of our trip across the Garden Route so memorable - thank you!

It’s hard to imagine a better tour guide for Cape Town than Clive. He is deeply knowledgeable, organized, thoughtful, and made our trip to Cape Town one to remember. From the outset he was highly responsive, answering all of our questions, understanding what we wanted out of our trip, and offering several options from which we made a custom itinerary. During the visit he took care of all of the logistics so that we didn’t have to worry about a thing, from airport pickup/drop off to entry fees to reservations, everything went off without a hitch. We did table mountain, a tour of the city, a day in Stellenbosch exploring all of the wineries, and went out shark diving. Clive went out of his way to make our trip special, whether it was a romantic winery picnic or a surprise champagne toast at sunset. Clive knows the history of the city, the best places to go for dinner, all of the safety tips and has some great stories to share. When I come back to Cape Town, Clive will be my first call and I’ll be recommending him to all of my family and friends.

We had the most wonderful experience with Clive in CapeTown. He is so knowledgeable about the history, the plant and animal life and we left feeling that we really understood Cape Town. There were four of us and we traveled in a beautiful Mercedes Sedan, we could hear extremely well because he used a high in headset microphone. He is personable and fun. For four days, he was only a phone call or text away night or day. It was true Consiergne Travel. Every need was taken care of from replacement masks to cool bottled water.
He not only showed us the expected places, Table Mountain, the expansive Botanical Gardens, the coastal towns and the southern most tip of the world, but also took us to wonderful lunch spots and recommended some of the best restaurants that we have ever experienced. I spent four days with Clive and were ready to come back when we left him. It was definitely a five star experience and I would recommend him to anyone going to Cape Town and the surrounding area. He is definitely the GO TO GUY for that area.

Our trip wouldn't have been as successful without the help of The Cape Town Tour Guide Co! They took care of us from arrival to departure and even helped out when we got stuck due to a new COVID variant. Clive is extremely knowledgeable about the history of the area, the plants, birds, just about anything you may have a question about! I think my kids learned more in their days with Clive than they would've learned during those days at school. Clive listens really well and works to accommodate your preferences and only recommends things you will enjoy. Clive is flexible and easy-going, he's a delight to be around. Clive was so good with our two teen boys. He had the perfect balance between goofing off, educating them, and stepping in to make sure they were safe and didn't do anything culturally insensitive. When Clive wasn't available to assist, he always made sure we were taken care of and everyone of the staff we encountered were wonderful. We always knew that The Cape Town Tour Guide was one call/text away if we needed anything at all.

Where do I begin, Clive is an amazing tour guide. Our group of 4 used him for the city tour, the south peninsula tour, and the wine country tour. With his knowledge of the area (has been a resident of Capetown for 30+years) and the fact he was a High School teacher, he made the tours very individualized to our wants and needs. He could converse on a number of topics as questions would come up and sometimes lead us to a totally different area of discussion. That's not to say he didn't have all the information that we as first-time visitors to Capetown would be interested in knowing. He even made arrangements for some shopping stops that he recommended and that we wanted to visit. ( I think he learned a lot about quilt shops) The fees were very reasonable, and by the end of the three full days thought of him as a newfound friend. If you are looking for a fantastic private tour guide for anywhere in the Capetown area, you couldn't do better than Clive.

Hi, my friend and I are visiting Cape Town. We are healthy late 50s. We are staying with a Cape Town friend for 6 - 7 days in early Nov. 2017. We like to walk around and take local transportation for things we can manage. We are also open for a tour guide with a car for a couple of days to explore the unusual stuff. Any suggestions?
