We very luckily came across David's tour company after spotting one of his vans in Camps Bay and we organised a couple of day tours around the area. Our tour guide was Duncan who was very informative on everything we went to see. Our first tour took us to the wineries in Franschhoek where we went to Haute Cabriere which is a beautiful winery. We followed that by a winery in Stellenbosch. We had a fabulous day and were driven around in a comfy van will plenty of room for the five of us. The other tour we did was just three of us and Duncan took us down to the bottom of the cape and then to see the penguins. We ended up with a visit at the Normal Foundation Museum which specialises in South African Visual Art. We had two fabulous days and wouldn't hesitate to give David a ring when we return again hopefully one day.

Thank you so much for this fantastic and detailed review, great to hear you had such an informative and fabulous two days touring with Duncan around our lovely winelands and Cape Peninsula.
The Norval Foundation is a highlight in itself and one which we offer to our clients as an optional stop if they are wanting to mix some culture in with the amazing views and wildlife on display during their private Cape Penuinsula tour.
Please do give me a ring (+27 82 321 6175) when you return as I may not be living next door to you like last time :)
Kind Regards from Camps Bay, Cape Town,
David Smith

Matt was an absolute all-star guide. He was incredibly prompt with timing, deeply knowledgeable on SO many topics (not just about the attractions but about the history of South Africa and the broader African continent (and world)), and had specific detailed answers to our many nuanced questions. He was funny, engaging, and so personable and pleasant to spend the day with.
Our tour started with a late-night pick up from a friend’s wedding in Stellenbosch — Matt was so accommodating, collecting us from the venue and kindly waiting until we had said our long goodbyes and our entire group was back together and organized after a late night. As foreign travelers in an unfamiliar place, we were so appreciative of his patience and guidance. The next morning our group went into the day with a loose idea of several spots we knew we wanted to hit, which Matt pieced together into a beautifully executed plan, timed perfectly down to the minute. Matt was so patient with us from the get-go, and we got to see everything we wanted to and so much more due to his great suggestions. Matt is clearly very experienced and had an excellent feel for how the day would play out, and it unfolded perfectly. Not to mention he also had relationships with staff at each of the attractions, which made us feel like VIP!
I can’t recommend Matt and African Blue Tours enough!!! We loved spending time seeing the wonders of Cape Town and beyond, and truly loved spending time with our guide Matt. Such an excellent, excellent visit!

Hi Kate
Thank you for such a detailed 5 star review!
I am so glad your group chose to use our services for both the wedding transfer and full day of private touring the following day. Matt enjoyed his time spent with you ladies, showing the beauty of the Cape Peninsula along with some of his hidden gems. We hope to see some of you again, there is so much more to explore in our beautiful, diverse country!
Kind regards from Cape Town,
David Smith

We visited Cape Town June 2023 and had the pleasure of having Matthew from African Blue Tours guide us (4 adults and 2 teenagers ). Matthew was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and patient. He was also an excellent driver. When weather presented a curve ball he adjusted course and came up with alternate suggestions to ensure we had an unforgettable time. In planning for our trip, David responded to emails quickly to confirm our itinerary and make suggestions. ABT took care of all hotel pick ups and transport to tours, purchased tickets, provided umbrellas and waters as needed and offered suggestions for evening dining. I would highly recommend African Blue Tours.

Last month, I went on a tour organized by African Blue Tours. It was excellent! David helped me to organize a small half day group tour of Cape Town for 11 people. His advice on how best to use the half day was very knowledgeable. We had a great city tour that included Table Mountain, the Bo Kaap area and District Six. It was a really personalized experience, everything ran smoothly and professionally. Our guide Matthew was wonderful - very professional and friendly and very knowledgeable about the city, answering all questions. He kept the group moving and engaged and we had a great day.
I had such a great experience on the small group tour that two days later, I booked an individual tour again through David and African Blue Tours with Matthew as my guide. I had the chance to do the Cape Peninsula tour individually which meant my time felt fluid and I did not feel pressed to hurry through the different places I visited which included seeing the African Penguins, Cape of Good Hope, Constantia and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens among other stops during the full day. Matthew shared from his own experience of Cape Town which meant I got the chance to see the city through the eyes of someone who loves and knows the city. I had a wonderful and memorable experience.
I am very grateful to David, Matthew and African Blue Tours for making the visit to Cape Town a truly enjoyable one. I would highly recommend African Blue Tours to anyone visiting Cape Town. They are professional and reliable and will help you make your visit your own!

At first we were hesitant to have a touring company as we do not like to be confined to a schedule so we went ahead and scheduled a 2 day tour, this would have left us 6 days to our own exploring... well 2 turned into 3 and 3 turned into 5. WOW WOW WOW is all we can say for this Small business. First of all dealing with David (Owner) was as if I was speaking to along time friend. Filled with knowledge and energy.
Where can I begin with Matt? Wow talk about a walking encyclopedia! Matt was not only punctual but had a plan , organized and knew what we wanted after one conversation. He is also a Wine connoisseur and Botanist.
South Africa is Open for business People!! Felt Covid safe the entire trip. Cape town was amazing but it was amazing due to African Blue tours.
To understand the 5 start service i leave you with this little story. I told David I wanted to experience south African Braai. Well David set up traditional South African Braai at his personal home with his family for us! it was my favorite part of the trip!

Hi Nick
WOW .... Thank you for such a lovely review, this is our first time "above" 5 stars :)
Thanks also for trusting our company with handling your private touring arrangements over the 6 days spent in Cape Town. After all our emailing it was great to not only meet you both in person but also host you in our home for a couple of hours over a braai.
Matt thoroughly enjoyed his time spent with you both, especially after such a long break due to the pandemic.
Stay "lekka" and see you soon back in South Africa!
Regards,
David Smith

I am very excited to report that we had a terrific experience working with African Blue Tours. My grandson and I were in a golf tournament and David was excellent in arranging a driver (Bruce) to take my wife and daughter around (touring, markets, etc) while we were tied up. With only 1 1/2 days at the end David recommended a trip to the Aquila Safari Reserve. What a terrific, no hassle experience. Our driver/guide Bruce was excellent. We also had him take the 4 of us on a one day tour around Cape Town and then we were fortunate to have him drive up to and from the Reserve. A terrific, knowledgeable, entertaining man. As he drove us back for our return flight, we stopped at a great winery, open air hand made craft market, etc. Overall a truly enjoyable, no hassle experience tailored to our wishes. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for experiences such as we had.

Took a full day tour to see Cape Agulhas with tour guide and driver Matthew. The day started around 8 AM and ended around 6:30 PM. It takes a long time to get there ~3.5 hours with some stops here and there for view points and lunch (~30 minutes). Time spent at Cape Agulhas and climbing the lighthouse is approximately 1 hour.
My suggestion would be to consider a 2 day tour, especially if you want to spend time at the shipwreck museum and want to see more of the South African country. Our time was unfortunately limited, but we really wanted to visit the southern most geographic point where the two oceans meet so full day of driving it was!
The best part of our tour was getting to really learn about Cape Town and South Africa from a local, Matthew. He shared so much with us, including watching Nelson Mandela give his speech the day he was released, and he is very knowledgeable.

We had two great days of touring with Matthew from African Blue Tours. First to wine country, and then the classic Cape Peninsula tour. Matthew was lovely and incredibly knowledgeable, and we saw more than we could imagine. After a gorgeous day in wine country, he arranged dinner for us at a lively spot with an unbeatable sunset view. For Peninsula tour, we substituted in Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden as our last stop, a garden unlike any other and not to be missed. Matthew grew up “escaping“ to Kirstenbosch, and his knowledge of the flora and fauna was deep. The sites in and around Cape Town are an absolute wonder and we heartily recommend African Blue Tours to create an unforgettable experience.

Hi Allison
Thank you for your "unforgettable" 5-star review of your 2 days spent with African Blue Tours.
Great to hear the Franschhoek restaurant Matt arranged was a good substitute for the closed La Petite Colombe that you had hoped to experience.
We couldn't agree more that Kirstenbosch certainly is "a garden unlike any other" and encourage our clients to spend some time walking through our magnificent flora.
Kind Regards from a sunny Cape Town,
David Smith

Good morning David,
Hope all is well with you, we’ve returned back to Uk safe and sound, just dropping you line on behalf of the group and myself, to thank you for a truly fantastic days tour.
We were all gripped from start to finish and certainly learned a lot that day.
We all agreed that Colin our guide and driver was excellent. A knowledgeable, courteous, considerate gentleman.( I don’t think there’s anything he does not know!)
He is certainly a credit and and an asset to your company/operation, please pass this on to him on our behalf.
A definite must for anyone with an interest in the military or history
Many thanks again for making our trip to South Africa even more memorable.
Kindest regards
Colin and the gang

Hi Colin
Thank you for such a fantastic review which we have passed onto Colin.
The art of telling centuries-old stories from the KZN Battlefields is quite a speciality and thus why we use Colin exclusively on these tours.
We hope some of your group will return to our country again as there is so much more to explore.
Kind Regards from Cape Town,
David Smith

I cannot say enough great things about African Blue Tours and our guide Matt. A group of us from the US traveled to South Africa for a wedding and needed last minute transportation. Matt went above and beyond to get us home safely the night of the wedding and make the most of the 24 hours we had to explore the town. During our short trip we were able to see all of the landmarks including the penguins, cape point, cape of good hope, the gondola up table mountain and many more off the grid spots only a true local would know. He was knowledgeable and entertaining and I cannot wait for our next trip together!

Hi Annie
Thank you for your wonderful 5 star review!
I am so glad you enjoyed your time with Matt and got to see all the highlights on the Cape Peninsula, in addition to the iconic Table Mountain, what a great way to "transfer" from Franschhoek to Cape Town :)

Hi Lilian
Thanks for your enquiry.
We can certainly assist and suggest a full day private Cape Peninsula on Monday (if you have the whole day available?) and then half day winelands and maybe a city & table mountain with airport drop off on Tuesday? Please send me an email or use the free call button on our website so we can chat further and give the best advice.

Hi
Does Inverdoorn have Elephants?
Thanks
Walter
Written 10 April 2017
Hi Walter
Yes, there are elephants along with many other species.
Please note however that one cannot compare any of the Cape Town day safari options to a safari experience in other more established and larger reserves of Africa, so I always find out if my clients have been on safari before and forewarn.
If you have never been on safari before then it's a great option to view Africas amazing animals.

David Smith

Hi,
Before making reservation, we are trying to figure out how to get to the Gwango Elephant lodge. I have heard Pathfinder bus travels from Victoria falls to Hwange National Park. Is the lodge accessible through the bus route or do we need further transportation to get to the lodge from the bus station ?
Written 11 June 2015
Hi There,
Whilst I have never used the bus service for my clients between Vic Falls and Hwange National Park, it does seem like a useful option and is operated by Intercape who are well known here in South Africa so should be a good service.
I suggest reading up a little more and emailing the Pathfinder bus company direct.
Enjoy, Victoria Falls is a special part of Africa!
Regards,
David Smith
