The Footsteps to Freedom walking tour of the historic heart of Cape Town tells the story of Cape Town and its people. We use streets, buildings, monuments, memorials and the passing street-scene as props develop a story of Cape Town and South Africa's dramatic past. Stories of Dutch and British colonial rule, slavery and apartheid, and finally our peaceful transition to a real democracy.We gather before 10h30 (Mon-Sat) in the lobby of the Taj Cape Town Hotel, located in centre of Cape Town's cultural and historic precinct. At 10h30 the 2½ hr walking tour starts from the steps of the Bishop Robert Gray Memorial, adjacent Taj Cape Town hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed spending the afternoon with Garth. He is extremely knowledgeable and has a great cadence and eloquence in how he recounts the intricate history of his country. We highly recommend this tour!

Highly recommend this tour. Ivor was an extremely knowledgeable and intelligent guide who provided facts and opinions about the history of Cape Town. He truly enjoys his job and enjoys sharing the city he loves

This walking tour in Capetown is fantastic! Guide Garth Angus is so knowledgeable and friendly. I've done this tour three times now and learn something new each time. Well worth it for history buffs.
