Fazeela was a burst of energy in all the right ways. Her enthusiasm for the history you will learn on this tour is contagious. We’ve travelled all around the world and she is truly a gem, leagues above the rest. The tour of Robben Island is for sure a more serious note due to it’s history but I think every person visiting the Cape Town area should make sure to fit this into their travel itinerary. Fazeela went above and beyond, was professional, on time and the delightful surprises along the way made for some of the most wonderful memories on our trip. You will not regret booking her tour. Highly recommend this tour company. Thank you Fazeela! Truly five stars!

Hello There Gaby, You are far too kind with your words :) It was a great honor to be in your company and i love that you appreciate the little things I did for you. Yes indeed, Robben Island is a World Heritage Site and is one of Cape Town's top attraction, and I'm so glad that you got to do the trip to the island :) I hope your projects going forward is going to take off and that you will be blessed with abundance of goodness as your heart is the most generous EVER. (*_*) Hope to see you again in the future for a more personal tour. All my best wishes to you and your family.

We knew that Robben Island you’re get booked up quickly so had this arranged well in advance. And everything worked like clockwork. Fazie collected us from our hotel bang on time and then took us to see a few unexpected highlights of the city before treating us to coffee before we boarded the ferry. She didn’t accompany us on the tour to Robben Island but the guides who accompanied us all did a fantastic job of bringing this sobering, thought-provoking place to life. We will never forget the experience - and I urge everyone who visits Cape Town to go.

Hello Vicky and Phil, how lovely to read that you enjoyed our company and learnt a lot from the guides on the island it is indeed humbling and sobering to listen to the stories. Please let us know if you need any help at all on the Garden Route especially if you're stranded. We will help in a flash! All the best is wished for you both.

Would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn about the past. Fazeela’s first hand accounts of the history of apartheid are touching and enlightening. You will not regret booking this tour. She took a very sad subject matter but managed to keep it light with her positive energy. This was one of the highlights of our trip.

We had ML Sultan take us around Cape Town for two days and it was a wonderful experience! We saw so much and learned so much and had a fantastic time. One day was Cape Point/Cape of Goodhope/ Penguins/K’bosch and many other things thrown in. The second day had a wine country emphasis with wine tastings, exploring, a delightful lunch in Franschoek including time to shop and also to walk around the amazing Babylonstoren. If you don’t have Faz and her son show you around the Cape Town area, you are missing out on a wonderful time.

We were so looking forward to visiting Robben Island and our guide, Jameel, picked us up at our hotel on time and took us for a short drive down the coast to visit some art installations and take some amazing pictures of us with these installations..... we posed on a giant pair of glasses that represented the sunglasses used by Nelson Mandela. They face out to a view of Robben Island and this was a great beginning to our day. Jameel also showed us an installation that was made to bring awareness to the poaching of rhino that is very informative and cleverly done. We then drove back to the pier area and he took us on a little walk giving us interesting information as we walked. You can imagine our disappointment when we arrived at the Robben Island boat office and we informed that our trip, for which Jameel had purchased tickets (which was great as we heard that some people that we later joined told us that the boat rides sell out) .... the trip had been cancelled due to high winds!! Little did we anticipate that our misfortune would turn out to be our lucky day instead as we ended up sending our time with Jameel who showed us some of his favorite spots in Cape Town. He took us to a holding office near the Robben boat where prisoners were kept before taken to the island. Here we could see the straw mats and shakles used on the prisoners,. He showed us a display of letters written by family members asking to visit their loved ones on the island. As we walked out of the dock area he took out picture with the big yellow frame looking up to Table Mountain and pointed placed to shop and eat for future reference.
Then we were in for our unexpected treats! Jameel drove us through the city giving us a little history lesson and we made two fun stops that were so fun.... his favorite bakery, Charly’s that you will have to see for yourself.... very wacky fun and delicious too! Then we walked to “the best coffee shop in the WORld” as rated by a UK newspaper called Truth. The shop in large and futuristic in style with waiters dressed in a sort of “Mad Max” attire. We sat and chatted and watched the activity which was centered around a huge roaster where their beans are processed. Our drinks were great but I wish I had ordered what Jameel had, ask him!
From there he drove us to the District Six Museum to give us a somber and important history about how this area was deemed as “White” in 1966 and thousands of residents were thrown out of their homes and displaced. We had a wonderful time with Jameel and though we missed the island we felt as if we had experienced an intimate look at Cape Town and had also gained a friend.
I would not hesitate to book some time with Jameel as you will gain some wonderful memories!

We paid R 875 for the tour. The tour guide picked us up and took us through the line that led us to the ship where we took off with hundreds of other tourists. For far cheaper, we could have simply had an uber drop us off and paid for our own tour admission (R330).

Hello Ms Minocente Many thanks for your negative review, we are really sorry that you felt this way. Please see my response below : Our company has 5 million Passenger liability. Uber vehicles without permits get confiscated and the police have road blocks to see for permits Our guide is a qualified guide and cannot be compared to an Uber driver, he was touring with guests from Virgin Holidays, African Travel Inc, Lion World guests and many more. If you look on the Trip advisor website, our rates are R 850.00 not R 875.00 as you claim. A private transfer by a reputable company from Camps Bay Hotel to the Waterfront is R 700.00 (African Eagle) their contact is +27 21 4644266 Another Tour Operator price is R 418.00 per way for a private transfer in a car. We have provided your kind self with 2 transfers. As you can see also there are another tour exactly as ours on Trip Advisor and their selling price is R 1300.00 for the very same experience. And if you continue to search yet another supplier has the very same tour as ours for R 2712.50 do look on the Trip Advisor website code is d318-37152P6 As mentioned, our rates are the cheapest on the Trip Advisor website. On another note, Trip Advisor can vouch for us, that we had 2 bookings on 20 January, the same day as your trip. These guests were happy with our service and they gave the guide R 250.00 rand and R 200.00 gratuity for the very same tour which you've experienced. I wish you all the very best Kind Regards ML Sultan Travel and Tours Management.

Faz picked us up promptly at the hotel and showed us some of the city before enduring we were on the correct ferry to Robben Island. The island tour was very informative and our bus driver made the day. The talks from the ex prisoners was enlightening and well worth a visit.

I used ML Sultan for the Robben Island tour and I would advise others NOT to use this company!!

I booked this tour through ML Sultan a few weeks prior to my arrival in cape town for R1,650. However, I soon realised the tour price directly through the Robben Island website is R550 for Non-South Africans.
I was advised after to speaking to two crew members on the ferry that transported me to and from Robben Island, that I had paid an extortionate fee and that the tour agenda would be the same for everyone travelling to the island.

I strongly discourage others booking with ML Sultan as they do not offer value for money. I paid in excess of R1100 for no reason what so ever.
I was picked up from my hotel which was only a 10 minute walk to the V&A Waterfront (where the ferry departs) and was driven around for 5 minutes. This made me angry as I had paid an additional R1100 for no reason.

The company should make it clear what service they are offering and should fully justify why they are charging in excess of R1100 more than the standard R550 ticket price which covers the tour and return ferry trip.

How can this company justify charging this extortionate fee when all they are doing is picking you up from your hotel and dropping you off if required.

NOTE: The actual tour of Robben Island was an enjoyable and a memorable experience. We were toured around in groups by an ex-prisoner. I would highly recommend visiting Robben Island. HOWEVER, I WOULD STRONGLY ADVISE NOT TO USE THIS COMPANY!!

Hello Joshy 10s I do not see your name on our list of customers which we've been transporting are you really our customer? Please see our reviews for the service we've been providing to Viator's valued customers please read and see how they appreciated the little we did for them. Also because we put our tours on Viator's fabulous portal we have to pay a commission to Viator. We have to pay for the Robben Island ticket, our operating licence for our business, for the use of our car as well as pay for a guide to drive our valued guests from the hotel and back. We also pay for Passenger liaibility so that when our customers travel with us, they are covered in the unlikely event if they need this cover which is almost 5million rands. We also pay 15% tax on each booking so we don't think our price is exhorbitant, if you look at another company for the same tour, they cost R 4800.00 on tripadvisor website they have 3 reviews we have many more We collect guests from hotels, take them to either the Bokaap/colorful houses or take them to Nelson Mandela's glasses and then on to the Gateway. The transfer is never 5 minutes as pickups are 8h00/10h00/ and we bring guests to the gateway after 30 minutes as we give them a tour before they arrive at the gateway. We also return the customers back to their respective hotels.if you did travel with us, that means you chose to stay behind and that is not our fault. I'm sure if you are indeed one of our valued guests, that you would have been taken to Nelson Mandela's glasses as well. This is a value add we do for our guests and many are grateful when we do take them please do the math now that you understand the expenses.

This was a wonderful introduction to our visit to Cape Town. Fazz was a great guide. Her enthusiasm and love for her city shone through. We got a quick tour of the city highlights- including a stop at a really great coffee shop - before taking the ferry over to Robben Island. The island was so interesting, we really enjoyed the visit there. On arrival back to the waterfront, Fazz was there to meet us off the ferry and took us to see some other highlights before dropping us back at the hotel.

Trip to Robbens Island highlight of trip. Robben Island transfer/hotel is good way to book ahead of time and get to ferry terminal. Our boat was cancelled on day of trip due to wind (a common experience and why they can’t confirm more than 24 hours in advance) but we were able to get on next day. Recommend reserving first day of your visit to give flexibility in case of high wind to rebook.

Hi there many thanks for taking time out to review our tour, We're wondering why you've socred us a 4 as you do say you've had a memorable visit. If you can let us know how we could have made it better, it would make us understand how else we could make the experience better. We glad that we got you a ticket the next day as you know these tickets can be scarce as hens teeth! :) Jameel

*Likely to sell out: Based on Viator’s booking data and information from the provider from the past 30 days, it seems likely this experience will sell out through Viator, a Tripadvisor company.
