We had a fabulous hike on Table mountain. Communication with Margret was wonderful, very prompt and accessible. Lynette our guide was professional, friendly and very knowledgeable.
This is a the second time we have hiked with Margaret’s company Table Mountain Walks. Highly recommended.

We did the Kasteelspoort hike with our guide Kathy. She arrived on time, made sure we were well equipped with the right clothes and water, and even agreed to make a little pit stop for us coffee addicts so we could get caffeinated for the day.
Kathy was really friendly and patient throughout the whole hike, and was informative with the plant life that we encountered along the trail. Kasteelspoort is a long but very beautiful trail, and also a much quieter route, allowing one to take in the surroundings. I would highly recommend this walk up the mountain.
It was a windy day hence we were unable to take the cable car down as planned, however Kathy gave us the option of extending the hike so we go down Platteklip Gorge which we went with. Overall a long but very enjoyable hike and was the highlight of our trip to Cape Town. Would highly recommend!

I had friends visiting from the UK who wanted to do a morning hike. I was advised to contact Margaret at Table Mountain Walks. She was friendly and informative about a suitable trail and the booking was done without any fuss. My friends thoroughly enjoyed the hike and confirmed that the guide had an excellent knowledge of the flora, fauna, rock formations etc. that they encountered. Good price...good service...will definitely give them a thumbs up.

I was part of a group which hiked up Platteklip Gorge - led by our guide, Liesl - on a clear morning, days after an unseasonal storm had lashed Cape Town. A highly experienced guide, Liesl paced us perfectly, giving us a rest after every steep section while also explaining the geology of Table Mountain and the history of its exploration.

Absolutely brilliant hike up the Kastellspoort route at the back of Table Mountain. You need to be fit and well to do this, as it is steep in places. Stunning views over Lion’s Head, Camps Bay and later the Hottentot Mountains.
Liesl was a superb, knowledgeable guide and pointed out the wonderful plant and bird life and some great insects and lizards too. Because we were interested she talked about each plant and creature, so this was an extra unexpected dimension to the hike!
A fabulous hike!

We enjoyed two fantastic hikes with Table Mountain Walks.
Our first was a hike up Table Mountain with Kathy as our guide. We loved the hike and the views were incredible. Kathy made the hike great fun and took the time to explain the flora and fauna to us. We were able to do the hike at our own pace and never felt rushed.
Our second hike was Lion's head for sunrise. We did the hike as part of a small group with Lynette as our guide. The view of the sun rising behind Table Mountain was well word the early morning start and the 360 degree views from the top were just incredible. Lynette made sure we felt safe and never hurried us. She also brought a cake for my husband's birthday which was so thoughtful.
I feel lucky to have had Kathy and Lynette as our guides, they've given us lots of fantastic memories and I wouldn't hesitate in booking with then again.

Our hike up table mountain was the highlight of our trip to South Africa. We booked well in advance and discussed with Margaret the best route for our ability and views. Lynette, our guide, collected us for our hotel at 6.30am and on we went to met the other 4 people in our group.
We chose the Kasteelspoort route and it was breathtaking and we were lucky with the weather. We found if fairly challenging but what an achievement when we got to the top. Lynette also took us to the diving board ledge for photos which was amazing.
Lynettes knowledge, passion and enthusiasm really added to the hike. She was so informative about the area, habitats and had loads of stories for us. She scheduled the rest stops just right for us.
Absolutely brilliant day. Highly recommend.

I am not an avid hiker, but my outing on the 25 July 2023 that all changed.
This was my first hike and my guide, Margaret, decided that we would hike a section of the Table Mountain National Park - “Echo Valley”; which is just at the start of Boyes Drive in Kalk Bay.
I must admit that when I saw the start of the hike the stairs seemed rather intimidating … BUT, Oh, my word, what an amazing experience. Margaret was absolutely fantastic, so well prepared and versed on all the Forna and Flora that surrounded us.
She made sure that I arrived early enough to see the magical sunrise over the ocean, for which I am so grateful for. I don’t think I have seen anything so breathtaking in the winter time in Cape Town.
Margaret thank you for your professionalism and making sure that I had a good time and at the same time keeping me safe throughout our 3-hour hike.
What a sensational view.
I am so pleased that we did this hike. I was so inspired, that I have no become a hiker 😊
All I can say is thank you so much Margaret, and am so looking forward to our next experience.

Buongiorno, mi sapete dare qualche indicazione per fare i trekking che portano sulla Table Mountain? Da dove partono?

The trails start from different locations, one from Tafelberg Rd, the others from Camps Bay, Theresa Ave and Kirstenbosch Gardens.

If i could only do one walk/hike, which would you recommend? Table Mountain walk or Lion's Head walk?
Thanks,
Carmela

I would do Table Mountain. Lion's Head is also lovely but does get busy. I also do Lion's Head for the sunrise so with the very early start you are finished around 8.30a.m. so you could possibly do both but not on the same day!

Hi, how fit do you need to be to do this walk? My father, 67 and uncle 72 are visiting Cape Town in March for the first time, I would like to see if we can do this as this would be very special. They are not hikers but they are both in good health conditions.

Thanks you for your enquiry. A reasonable to good level of fitness is preferable. The route is steep and all stepped so especially for an older person regular aerobic exercise is a prerequisite.. The terrain is uneven in places so good balance is essential - the route is not technical but most would regard it as strenuous.
