I contacted African overland tours at the last minute to help me find a Gorilla trek in Uganda. Minette was so helpful, went out of her way to get me all the info I needed, sent me updates via email and WhatsApp each day. I would highly recommend this company as they really help you rather than just sending a price list like the other companies do. Unfortunately due to my time constraints I couldn't go on the trip, but I was so impressed with their help that next time I go to Uganda I will contact Minette rather than search the 100s of companies online.

We discovered our amazing adventure in Namibia through African Overland. Thank you so much, Reshma Deva, for being such a help in organising this incredible journey with Chameleon Safaris! Reshma was always available to answer questions, offer advice about current weather conditions and generally guide us through the process with an almost instant response to our queries. She was so bubbly and enthusiastic, it was clear she is absolutely passionate about travel in Africa! It was such a pleasure working with her.
We chose the 12 day Classic Namibia camping safari with Chameleon as it covered more of the country than many other operators. We were not wrong in our choice; we have had the most amazing journey, possibly one of our best ever trips. Every day resulted in more jaw-dropping experiences than the last! The landscapes are astonishing, the animals in Mt Etjo and Etosha incredible and the camping first class (so much more interesting and close to nature than lodge accommodation!). Taimi was our superb guide, enthusiastic, always on the go, shopping, cooking, organising, with such a bubbly happy personality! She is a real credit to the organisation. We learnt so much about life in Namibia from her. Michael, our amazing driver, was always so kind and gentle, looking out for the older members of our group, always helping with the tents, cooking, and clearing up all after some incredibly long driving days!
Best bits: there are so many! Water holes at night, landscapes unlike anything we've seen before, the Himba tribes people, the Skeleton Coast, really interesting and unique plants, Sandwich Bay where the desert meets the sea, Deadvlei and so much more!
We cannot recommend this trip highly enough. Thank you African Overland and Chameleon Safaris!

I booked a 7 day South Africa Garden Route Tour through African Overland tours. The communication organising my tour was brilliant! Thank you Huntley! The tour itself was ran by NOMAD, it was well priced and the guide stuck to the itinerary and even managed to fit in a few more activities which made the tour well worth it. Some activities were included but lots you still had to pay for which you really didn’t want to miss out on. My highlights on this tour were waterfall tsitsikamma hike and a swim in the waterfall (included), Fairview cheese and wine pairings (included), worlds tallest bridge bungee (price not included) and driving along route 62 was breathtaking. The accommodation included was basic apart from we stayed in some beautiful hotels for the last 2 nights which was such a treat (karoo art hotel and standford guest valley lodges). Food was included which saved lots of money, if you are a fussy eater I wouldn’t recommend as meals are basic with little variety although they did try their best to cater to vegetarians, GF and halal. The truck we travelled in was fine, it had usb ports, seat pockets etc which was great but seeing other companies, this truck was definitely outdated. Our tour guide wasn’t very passionate about his job which was unfortunate, my friend and I felt a little ‘lost’ and ‘confused’ about activities and the daily plans at times. Would recommend Nomad tours if you are looking for the most affordable deal! but if you have a bit more to spend I think it would be worth splashing out to have a more comfortable and passionate tour with more activities already included in the price. I will definitely be booking through African overland adventures in the future.

The tour started in Swakopmund and finished in Victoria Falls-twelve days filled with the wonders of nature and man. We were a rather mixed group but skilfully blended by our tour guide, Costa, and our driver, Gift- a dream team who explained, informed, added background to what we saw in front of us so that our understanding of Southern Africa was tremendously enhanced.
Our time in the Okavanga Delta was the highlight, the Pride of Africa glamping site already very special made more so by visits from hippos during dinner. Even though the journey into and out of the Delta is strenuous the wild life is abundant and is like watching a nature programme live. The flight over the Delta is worth the expense as well as the helicopter flight over the Victoria falls.
Food was great with generous breakfasts, lunches and dinners every day and sometimes morning/afternoon tea.
We took by far too many warm clothes which was the advice on the what to pack list, Pay attention to the type and size of luggage so it can fit into the limited space on the truck. Also, allow $20-30 per day for tips to guides, drivers etc.
All in all a fabulous experience.

Mich is an amazing consultant. We worked well together through the "WhatsApp” app. She was very responsive and readily available, energetic, supportive, and became a good friend in the process! I would highly recommend African Overland Tours to anyone looking to tailor their own itinerary while having all hotels, guides, and transportation coordinated for them. Mich was especially a pleasure to work with and was able to offer suggestions and advice while also being very open to my feedback and preferences. What an awesome trip it was!

I recently returned from the East Africa Migration tour and it was an absolutely amazing experience. It was beyond anything I had imagined.
The booking process was quite easy and Chemone was wonderful in answering my million questions about the trip and putting me at ease as it was my first time doing an African safari.
The guides in Kenya (Francis) and Tanzania (Elisha) were both amazing. They are both excellent drivers and all of us felt very safe and assured on the very bumpy roads.
Elisha was also very organized and efficient in getting us going as quickly as possible on the game drives every day.
Overall, it was fantastic and smooth experience and can't wait to explore more African countries in the future.

We booked our tour via African Overland Tours. Tammy was great in providing us all information on different tours from various companies, The communication with Tammy was easy, all responses were given in timely manner, all advices about travel in Africa were very helpful.
We are very glad that we followed Tammy's recommendation and went on the 16 Days Botswana Tour provided by Drifters Adventure Tours. What an amazing adventure it was! The most memorable part was camping in the unfenced wilderness areas of Moremi and terrific wildlife sightings. We saw lions and leopards, buffalos, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, lots of hippos and elephants, many different types of antelopes, various birds in Moremi, Okavango Delta and Chobe. Victoria Falls were magnificent from both Zimbabwean side and Zambian side. Close encounter with elephants at Elephant Sands was also interesting.
Drifters guides were great, they were willing to share their vast experience, knowledge and love for the places we visited. Our group was excellent, the atmosphere was very friendly like traveling with the family.
We have terrific memories about this trip and will recommend booking Drifters Botswanan tour via Overland Adventure Tours to anyone interested in nature, real adventure and going off the beaten path.

We had a really great time on a Nomad tour booked with Africa Overland Tours. Dealing with the AOT team (Reshma) was always professional and we managed to accomplish so much thanks to the great Nomad team of Zelele and Clever. Good truck, well suited to the trip, good activities included too. The Mozambique beaches were really beautiful and we were also lucky to be able to participate in the Eswatini King's choice of bride ceremony...a real bonus cultural event.
It certainly seemed that the Africa Overland Tours team know what is out there and can find what you want for your budget and timing.

Bernelle from African Overland Tours has been great in organizing our tour for us. She went over and above in arranging a special gorilla habituation experience, which other operators were not willing to help with. She was also able to assist with additional questions we had, which made me feel a lot more comfortable for our trip.
She even assisted with Ideas for what we could do in the extra week we were going to spend in Uganda.
I would recommend these guys for any African Adventures that need planning and special attention.

We haven't traveled yet but when we do it will be amazing if the level of service on tour matches the experience working with our consultant at African Overland Tours (AOT). Lee Van Staden took care of every detail and answered every question. Her communication was always clear and quick. Because of flight timings we had some extra days and she helped find and book options for us. AOT works with a variety of providers and we could have booked our tours directly with those providers but the prices were the same and it was much easier to work with just one company. Tours, hotels, transportation - Lee and AOT did it all.
