South Africans are found selling wire animals everywhere that tourists stop. Don’t buy any until you go to Streetwires. Their animals are so much more skillfully made than any you will see on the streets. We were in CapeTown on a Saturday so we did not get to see the artisans making their products. That would make this stop even better. But we were thrilled with our purchases, and they packed up boxes of treasure to send home for us. Prices are reasonable, and the people working there are friendly and very helpful. A great stop!

Our tour guide took us here as an alternative because it was too windy to cable car to Table Mountain. IMO this was even better. What an incredible shop of creations. Started to give street kids something to do the works are incredible. A must see in Cape Town.

This is a great place to visit and purchase some great souvenirs to take home. The owner also accompanied us to another room to show us how the beaded art sculptures were made which was fascinating. The large animal casts they have on the far wall are just beautiful! We couldn't resist buying more than one sculpture as well as a few beaded bangles. The prices were very reasonable and the sculptures of high quality.

Authentic, attractive, artistic wire-and-bead creations that range from small & cute to awesome & large. If you want extra-special gifts for yourself, family, colleagues or friends that also directly support the artists that made them, then then Streetwires is your one-stop-shop.

I checked this place out on the internet before visiting Cape Town. I was disappointed that, once I arrived in that city, so few tourist guides, accommodation providers and tour companies had heard of Streetwires. I ended up especially hiring a driver and car to take me to their address. Once I stepped into their showroom/gift shop I was mesmerized but the range, quality and beauty of all on offer. I bought several gifts and, once I got home, all who received these gifts cooed with delight. Everyone also mentioned the quality and detail of their gift.

My only regret is that when I visited it was late in the afternoon and all of the artists had left for the day. However, the kind people in the shop let me visit the room where they worked and they explained how the objects were created and made.

Forget the tacky wire-and-bed stuff you see in markets and street stalls all over Cape Town. Instead, go straight to Streetwires - for wonderful wire-and-bead creations that are reasonably priced and are of fantastic quality.

This is a really good place to visit in Cape town. Enjoyed my visit here. You can see the artist making the beaded art and it is really fun to watch. Every piece is beautiful and everyone in the store is so nice.

While we didn’t physically visit this store we contacted them online, did some shopping with them & we were exceptionally impressed.

My Mum & Dad were travelling to Africa over the time of Mother’s Day and I wanted to find something uniquely African as a Mother’s Day gift which could be delivered to her while in Africa. I found Streetwires after an online search and got in touch with them for a catalogue of their products. Working with them by email, I found several items, organised payment, wrapping and delivery of the gifts I had selected and Bernadette even provided a card for me and wrote the message to my Mum on it. We couldn’t be happier with the service provided by Bernadette and Catherine and my Mum was surprised and delighted to receive her Mother’s Day gift and adores the gifts which are beautifully individually handmade.

Thank you hugely Bernadette and Catherine – you have been wonderful!

We look forward to visiting your shop when my partner and I finally get visit Africa!

I believe in supporting the local artists. This was a great place to see how the crafts are created and where the crafts that I have seen at other markets come from. I walked away with a beautiful lion's head and will enjoy it for years to come.

You see the wire and bead sculptures all over town in the souvenir shops. You will only appreciate how much work goes into the making if you see the people in the shop painstakingly add each line of beads to the frames. Some of the artworks are amazing in design and size.

If in Capetown, do yourself a favor and visit Streetwires. All the wirework, from conception to finished product, is done in house by local artisans. One can feel their passion and creativity. Beautiful pieces, both big and small, can be viewed and purchased. A great economic boost for the area as well.
