Completed in 1823 this lighthouse meanwhile has become a historic site. It is still operational and can be visited, if corona has been overcome. The red and white colours make the building on Mouille Point stand out and it is on a pleasant lawn. Great to hang out if it is not windy. An entrance to Green Point Park is right behind the lighthouse.

Green Point Lighthouse is a lighthouse located in Cape Town Bay. It was commissioned on April 12, 1824. It is the first lighthouse built in South Africa. I don't think the latter is still in office but a brief passage is worthwhile as it is relatively imposing in the landscape.

Not so much the lighthouse, but the promenade, is the thing to visit. It starts about 500m east of the light house and goes all the way to Sea Point. When the sun is up and there is not too much wind its a wonderful walk. Full of all types of people and some interesting public art.

The view from this lighthouse is beautiful! The lighthouse itself has an amazing history and a-lot of it is still from the old days!!
If you go in and go up to it you can see signal hill and the skydivers jump from the top.
It’s amazing to see how well this lighthouse is taking care of, and it’s really nice to know the history and the culture that it has

Great area to walk around or go jogging or taking your dogs to walk.
Sunset view is spectacular.
The weather is usually up to 5 degree chillier that town.
There are bikes, ice cream for enjoying every moments.

The official name of this lighthouse, which is situated below Green Point is Mouiile Point Lighthouse. It is a very windy spot but gives a n interesting view on the Sea Point and the Lions Head mountain. Next to the parking there is a well attended playground.

As a family we enjoy a good lighthouse. What I like about this one is it's easily accessable and it being in the city means it's relatively easy to get to.
Not too high up and the stairs/ladders are easily to navigate.
The view is worth it as you have a really amazing view of the coastline and mountain.
There is a small museum attached with some local maritime history.
Very helpful staff and not too expensive an outing.

Arriving on the Waterfront right around the sculpture of a pair of "big spectacles" and turning left from there, I first didn't see this lighthouse and just walked for about 1 km to Milton Beach which is not a particularly big beach in its length & width but big enough for people to set up tents and with a distinctive feature of a "rock pool" (in a pretty perfect square shape and one just filled with sea water right on the water's edge at just a short walk across the beach), so it was actually only on the way back along the Waterfront that I saw this lighthouse at some distance ahead (about 0.5 km further beyond the point where I first arrived) which yes was also quite a "charming one" I would say seeing close up upon arrival (seemingly no entry for the public) and also with quite a "wide expanse" of waterfront lawn right beside it before finally leaving the Waterfront and entering the Green Point Park (right across the street from the Lighthouse).
And yes, it was just overall a "nice & exhilarating" walk (for the total of about 1.5 km that I did between Milton Beach in the south & the Lighthouse in the north although the waterfront extends in both directions, I'm sure, considerably further) with the wide-open ocean right beside on one side & the city's waterfront buildings just after the "nicely-maintained grass" on the other side (no super-tall high-rises but just those of like no more than around 10 stories) where yes rising behind that "neat row" of buildings are the city's popular high grounds of Signal Hill & Lion's Head (no view of Table Mountain from this waterfront though, but which can be seen from the V&A Waterfront further north from the Lighthouse).

A nice place to get your photo taken. And it is almost directly out the front door of La Splendida Hotel

Great for day out with loved ones in Green Point. The Lighthouse museum is very informative, with plenty coastline and restaurants nearby. The area places emphasis on conservation, so if you are into that, this is for you. Great for picnucs and dogwalking too
