Planet Bar was a very serene setting for being in the middle of Capetown. The drinks (martinis) were great and it was a bonus that we were there while the pianist was on duty. If the indoor is too busy there is seating on the terrace over looking the garden. Our server, Zane, was very knowledgeable about the menu and about the hotel such that he took us on a tour providing historical context for each room and corridor throughout the hotel. We were blown away by the service that we came back to hotel the next night for another round of drinks.

I have always gone for drinks but this time decided to try their burgers. Highly recommend the burgers, they were delicious and cooked to perfection! It was shocking to see their wine prices shoot up so much in one week!

This great little bar is located inside the Mount Nelson Hotel. One of Cape Towns Iconic Old hotels. Originally build to serve the passengers on the cruise liners. The Planet Bar used to have a Mobile of all the Planets Hanging it. Sadly on my last visit the place has had a revamp and I did not see it. The bar is really old school from the Decor and has a lovely fireplace for winters. It is a great place for an after dinner drink and is open pretty late as it is located in a hotel. They have a great wine and Champagne selection and the barman can make great cocktails. I have also bumped into quite a few Celebrities in this bar in the past. Those include Robbie Williams and Idris Elba. So give this place a try who knows who you might bump into.
