I joined Monday from Cape Town. He picked me up from my accommodation. We toured the garden route for five days. The accommodation had selected was lovely each night, especially Jeffreys Bay and the garden Route lodge. Finally, on day 5, Mawande dropped me at my accommodation in Hermanus. He was extremely knowledgeable about all the places we visited. Historically, currently, and economy. I felt safe at all times travelling on my own. I would recommend this store to anyone and everyone. Thank you, Alison Moore.

Detour Africa, specifically James planned a total of 19 of our 23 days in South Africa, Swaziland and Kingdom of Lesotho. The suggestions, organization of the tours and prompt replies to my many, many emails was exemplary. Everything went smoothly and we had a wonderful time. We would not hesitate to recommend Detour Africa for all your Africa tours. James was wonderful!

We had two long tours to Kruger National Park and Namibia and two day tours (Johannesburg and Cape town) as well. Everything was well organised and our manager James Adams was really friendly and helpful. Moreover we had Cape Town Day tour with him and he is really good as a guide too. Thanks for everything and see you next time!

We booked a 12 day South Africa itinerary, visiting both the greater Kruger National Park and the Garden route. The service provided by Detour's James Adams was great! He made sure everything was accounted for and our trip went smoothly. Please note that Detour is only the travel agency that does the booking with tour operators and not host the actual tours themselves.

I went on the 10-day Majestic Namibia tour, provided to me by James from Detour Africa, who was very helpful in sharing options with me.
The trip itself was very well designed with regards to hours driving, rest stops, lodges chosen, etc.
Plus, the guide Riaan Lawrence was excellent. He is local to Namibia, his knowledge of the area was superb and he was a very good driver which is important travelling on gravel roads. Plus, he knew exactly where he was going at all times and knew all the washroom stops. I think a guide can make or break a tour and he certainly made it, I would def work with him again.
All the lodges I stayed at were part of the Gondwana brand. I think they were about a 3-star. Each had their own unique décor and atmosphere and I would say they were mostly very good.
The Namibian scenery is something special and I’m glad I made the trip.
It was very hot with temperatures in the high 30’s and early 40’s so the aircon in the lodges was very welcome. There was very little shade by the swimming pools which made it difficult for me to swim, but understanding we were in the dessert.
I would highly recommend this trip, 10 day was a good amount of time and we saw a lot.
Happy Travels!!

Driver was on time and informative on long drive to lodge but the scenery was spectacular.
Animals galore from moment we drove onto Guernsey Reserve.
Staff very friendly and attentive.
Room spacious and comfortable, loved the outdoor shower.
Meals were ok but not spectacular.
Kruger was full of animals but no leopards or cheetahs for us.
All said a bl___y good experience.

We looked for an affordable private tour to Krugerpark, Mozambique and eSwatini. James from Detour Africa helped us in our planning and made our experience with this trip totally satisfying and remarkable. Everything went on as planned with high quality, seeing the big six (added whales at Ponta do Ouro) and a very good guide and driver.
James respond quick and polite and with local insight. We have traveled to about 150 countries - we recommend James and Detour Africa.

We booked a five-day Garden Route tour from Cape Town combined with a four-day Kruger Park safari tour and had a fantastic time. The whole process was so smooth. James, our Detour Africa contact, organised everything highly efficiently and always responded to emails quickly, providing great advice. This made us feel at ease right from the start and, sure enough, everything worked out perfectly. Both of the tours we combined were incredible and gave us an amazing overview of what this beautiful country has to offer. The package we opted for was perfect for us as we wanted to combine a trip to Cape Town with a Garden Route tour, but also really wanted to visit Addo Elephant Park and Kruger National Park. The package offered by Detour Africa was very reasonably priced and much cheaper than other ones I'd looked at previously. James also said we could add in an extra day of safari, which was a great idea as three days would have been a little short for us with all the travelling to get to Kruger. The only thing we had to book ourselves were the internal flights, and James helped us by recommending flight times and an airline. Paying for the tour was also very straightforward. We received a very detailed itinerary, including useful tips about what to pack. It was an intense nine days with a lot packed in, but it was more than worth it, including all the early starts! We saw so much and the guides shared their fascinating knowledge throughout. The accommodation and food were also so good! We stayed in such beautiful places. It was just a shame we didn't have much time in each place, but that's another reason to come back! Overall, we'd highly recommend booking a trip with Detour Africa. They are very professional and will no doubt arrange an unforgettable and amazing tour for you. Many thanks to James and the team!

I’ve booked with Detour twice and had fantastic adventures with them in numerous countries in Southern Africa. Customer service has been fantastic and I wouldn’t consider booking through anyone else. We’ll be back for future adventures. 💯 satisfaction

Hello. I'm thinking of doing the 20 day Johannesburg to Cape Town tour with DetourAfrica. Can you share more of your experience with me? How was the lodging, what properties were used? Did they provide airport transfers at the beginning and end of the trip? How was the food? Any info shared will be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

Are the tours private or in groups?
DeepcovePeter

The tours are not private, but they are small. The truck (not a bus) has 22 seats. On our first tour we had 18 people, the second tour we had between 9 and 14 people as some were dropped off and some joined, and our third tour had 8 people. We don't want to pay the price of a private tour, and the 40 person bus tours are out of the question, so these tours were pretty good, and we were able to share experiences and photographic technique with new friends.
