I went on the 10-day Majestic Namibia tour, provided to me by James from Detour Africa, who was very helpful in sharing options with me.

The trip itself was very well designed with regards to hours driving, rest stops, lodges chosen, etc.

Plus, the guide Riaan Lawrence was excellent. He is local to Namibia, his knowledge of the area was superb and he was a very good driver which is important travelling on gravel roads. Plus, he knew exactly where he was going at all times and knew all the washroom stops. I think a guide can make or break a tour and he certainly made it, I would def work with him again.

All the lodges I stayed at were part of the Gondwana brand. I think they were about a 3-star. Each had their own unique décor and atmosphere and I would say they were mostly very good.

The Namibian scenery is something special and I’m glad I made the trip.

It was very hot with temperatures in the high 30’s and early 40’s so the aircon in the lodges was very welcome. There was very little shade by the swimming pools which made it difficult for me to swim, but understanding we were in the dessert.

I would highly recommend this trip, 10 day was a good amount of time and we saw a lot.

Happy Travels!!

Driver was on time and informative on long drive to lodge but the scenery was spectacular.
Animals galore from moment we drove onto Guernsey Reserve.
Staff very friendly and attentive.
Room spacious and comfortable, loved the outdoor shower.
Meals were ok but not spectacular.
Kruger was full of animals but no leopards or cheetahs for us.
All said a bl___y good experience.

We looked for an affordable private tour to Krugerpark, Mozambique and eSwatini. James from Detour Africa helped us in our planning and made our experience with this trip totally satisfying and remarkable. Everything went on as planned with high quality, seeing the big six (added whales at Ponta do Ouro) and a very good guide and driver.
James respond quick and polite and with local insight. We have traveled to about 150 countries - we recommend James and Detour Africa.

We booked a five-day Garden Route tour from Cape Town combined with a four-day Kruger Park safari tour and had a fantastic time. The whole process was so smooth. James, our Detour Africa contact, organised everything highly efficiently and always responded to emails quickly, providing great advice. This made us feel at ease right from the start and, sure enough, everything worked out perfectly. Both of the tours we combined were incredible and gave us an amazing overview of what this beautiful country has to offer. The package we opted for was perfect for us as we wanted to combine a trip to Cape Town with a Garden Route tour, but also really wanted to visit Addo Elephant Park and Kruger National Park. The package offered by Detour Africa was very reasonably priced and much cheaper than other ones I'd looked at previously. James also said we could add in an extra day of safari, which was a great idea as three days would have been a little short for us with all the travelling to get to Kruger. The only thing we had to book ourselves were the internal flights, and James helped us by recommending flight times and an airline. Paying for the tour was also very straightforward. We received a very detailed itinerary, including useful tips about what to pack. It was an intense nine days with a lot packed in, but it was more than worth it, including all the early starts! We saw so much and the guides shared their fascinating knowledge throughout. The accommodation and food were also so good! We stayed in such beautiful places. It was just a shame we didn't have much time in each place, but that's another reason to come back! Overall, we'd highly recommend booking a trip with Detour Africa. They are very professional and will no doubt arrange an unforgettable and amazing tour for you. Many thanks to James and the team!

I’ve booked with Detour twice and had fantastic adventures with them in numerous countries in Southern Africa. Customer service has been fantastic and I wouldn’t consider booking through anyone else. We’ll be back for future adventures. 💯 satisfaction

My Safari trip was everything & more than I ever expected. We booked a 3 day Safari with Detour Africa & I couldn't recommend them enough. They will collect you at Johannesburg airport or in an airport hotel within 5km+drop you back again. The mini-bus journey to Kruger National Park is about 7 hours including stops.
My friend & I had a lodge bungalow beside each other. They come with AC,fan, VERY cosy bed, ensuite bathroom+shower. Food was delicious at the lodge+is included in the price. A 3 course meal for dinner in the evenings. A packed breakfast was provided for your Safari trips,we had to buy lunch just one day while out on Safari. The only money we spent in the 3 days was on 1 lunch, some drinks at the Lodge bar+tips for the tour guides+staff.
The Safari days are long, leaving at 5-5:30am and not back until 5-7pm but that's what you're there for, so get to bed early!
The amount of animals we saw far exceeded my expectations. Giraffes, elephants with babies, rhinos with babies, baboons with babies on their backs, vultures, wildebeest, turtles, eagles, hippos, crocodile, zebras, loads of different deer species, honey badger, lions & hyenas off in the distance, and even down to squirrels and hares! The 2 most special parts & when I most felt like I was taking part in a nature documentary, was when a herd of a few hundred water buffalo crossed the road right in front of us looking for the nearest watering hole and secondly, when a pack of 10 wild dog pups were playing on the road ahead of us. 3 adult dogs soon sounded the alarm for feeding time & all 10 pups ran up to them to fight over who gets what piece of meat. Our driver Jon said to see a pack of wild dogs on a Safari is rare enough but to see them during feeding time is especially rare & it was a real privilege to capture the moment with us as the sun set in the background, which was very special.
Our Safari guides Jon+Elliot were highly knowledgeable & passionate about every species in the park and were constantly on the lookout for us,from tracking paw prints on the road, to following fresh dung, to watching eagles circling in the sky and how fast a herd was moving through the grass, which may indicate a predator is nearby.
Our transport drivers Morris & Des stopped off at different stunning viewpoints along the way to+from the airport & were v friendly.
This Safari trip in Kruger National Park Johannesburg was the perfect way to end my Bucket List of dreams

I booked a 34 days tour from Cape Town to Zanzibar with Detour Africa in two sectiond. From the first email I wrote till the last, James was super helpful and always ready to go that extra mile to make my tour perfect. I'm so grateful for the great service I got both before and during the tour. The responses where always quick and helpful, and always so understanding - thank you James! The tours themselves are provided by Nomad Tours, but the price does not really differ between the companies, so you might as well get the great customer service by booking with Detour instead. The tour was great and everything needed was included. The first part from Cape Town to Victoria Falls was absolutely incredible. The second part from Victoria Falls to Zanzibar was very long drives and I would have preferred more time in each country, so be prepared for that - but except for that it was amazing. An adventure of a life time.
