About
Just up Kloof Nek Road from the center of town is this thriving beach community. Plenty of trendy nightclubs, shops and cafes bring diners and shoppers, while tranquil seas and fine white sand draw sun worshippers and swimmers.

- AnneOslo, Norway15 contributionsA day in amazing scenery where mountains and sea embrace you!A day in paradise! White sandy beach, crystal clear ocean. You can rent sun bed if you like, not too expensive. Restaurants and cafes just with short walking distance. Make sure you do not bring alcohol to the beach as this could result in a fine. Alcohol on beach is prohibited. Other than that, enjoy your day in paradise.😀Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 January 2023
- K WChandler, Arizona6 contributionsDefinitely worth a visitCamps Bay Beach does not disappoint! It is so beautiful. My husband I spent the day there and fully enjoyed it. There are many street vendors selling their art but we did not find any of them to be pushy at all. There are many restaurants to choose from and the area felt safe for us as tourists.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 March 2023
- Thecatsmum4Kettering, United Kingdom2,229 contributionsExcellent beachLovely bay, with sandy beach. Well worth spending a few hours here. You can get the hop on/off bus from Cape Town. Shops and eateries along the seafront and a few vendors selling items.Visited January 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 22 April 2023
- pandora mSingapore, Singapore234 contributionsBeautiful even in winterLoved the beach and waves. Even though it was cold and in winter - we stayed a bit to wave watch. The area was very clean and there was a playground for the kids to play. The public toilets were also clean. There were a few people asking for money/food or asking you to buy things but generally felt safe walking around there.Visited June 2023Travelled with familyWritten 14 June 2023

Relaxed, beautiful sands and water and plenty of restaurants. All offering a relaxing summer chic vibe. - Gary FCroydon, United Kingdom341 contributionsBusy beach with freezing cold waterThe beach looks very nice and picturesque but there are a few things I didn’t like about it. 1. There are a lot of beggars all along the beach and in the entrances and it’s quite off putting. 2. The sea is very rough even when there is little wind. 3. There is lots of seaweed and kelp and the sea looks dirty in parts. There is a nice swimming pool area that is good but again very busy and even that is cold. The sand is lovely and fine but the people begging and selling things will put me off coming here again.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 November 2023

Lovely beach. White sand, azure breakers. but the sea is cold. Wear sand shoes for the broken shells.
To the left is a man made sea water swimming area refilled each high Tide therefore heats up a few degrees higher than the sea.fresh but pleasant to swim in. ( toilet good for changing swim clothes next to the beach)

Beach was beautiful and vibrant. There were plenty of restaurants lining against the coast of the beach. There were some street peddlers there but were generally not as pushy as some other places.

Family friendly, clean and so close to cafes and shops. The beach is big and sandy. Parking is not necessarily plentiful, though.

Beautiful beach with mountain views in the background. A lovely walking street to compliment it with a choice of cafes and hotels.

What is the best restaurant in Camps Bay?

Sorry, I just now read your question. Can‘t really say about the restaurant, since it all depends on what you like. We ate a lot of fish in a couple of Restaurants there, which was really good. Unfortunably I don‘t remember the namens.

Can anyone tell me how to get to Camp's Bay from the cruise terminal and how far away is it? We will be there on 6th and 7th February next year.
Daniel S
Washington DC, DC186 contributions
From the cruise terminal, you will be right in the V&A area. Basically, once you get onto Main Rd heading Southwest, you follow it through Seapoint, onto Victoria Rd and that will bright you right into Camp's Bay.

How much is the rental for a sunlounge and an umbrella? Thanks for your info, Thomas!
World Traveler
United Kingdom125 contributions
They ask up to R200 (around 15€) for two lounge chairs and the umbrella with cushions (dirty and spotted). During all 2016 prices were getting crazy expensive monthly due to the weak of Rand currency vs $ and €. Currently exchange is same of 2013 (1 € = 13,6 Rand) prices still increasing though. Watch out!!
Are there beach chairs available to rent at Camp's Bay?
Debbie M
Cannes, France395 contributions
Yes there are many chair and umbrella vendors. They will approach you as soon as you walk onto the beach. Prices vary from 4-6 Euro for a sun lounger and 6-8 Euros for an umbrella for the day.

Good day!
I heard that Camps Bay is great for Beach Volley Ball. Could someone please provide more information? Do you have to bring along your own net and ball or is it provided somewhere along the beach?
Many thanks,
Emmerentia
