- KatherineManchester, United Kingdom522 contributionsBeautiful! We saw this beach from the top of table mountain and it looked beautiful from there but on visiting it’s even more spectacular. Relaxed, beautiful sands and water and plenty of restaurants. All offering a relaxing summer chic vibe. Visiting here has been one of our best afternoons so far.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 November 2023
- rob nHoofddorp, The Netherlands176 contributionsBeautiful busy beach with enough bars and restaurantsNice wide sandy beach with cold and wild ocean. Lovely to stroll along the ocean or rent a bed/umbrella (as they say ) Busy in the afternoons and Sundays so like everywhere you have to be alert on your stuff. Nice boulevard type of restaurants etc Touristic for sure but hey, you are a tourist as well;)Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 November 2023
- Janet vHermanus, South Africa1,627 contributionsGreat location and value for moneySet in a busy street with many great restaurants to choose from, this branch of OB is worthwhile. Food is good and staff and are efficient. Although you don't have as good a vibe as other places on the street, the food is certainly value for money. Clean beach with beach loungers and umbrellas to hire. The hawkers mostly sell cold drinks and ice cream but there are also hats and other things being proffered to the beach goers.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 29 December 2023
- XantiaCardiff, United Kingdom44 contributionsBeautiful scenery!Lovely visit to camps bay beach. Beautiful scenery with a view of lions head from the beach and quite a few tourists. White sand and bright blue ocean. A small decent array of restaurants to choose from. I lunched in the 41 which proved delicious! Would return.Visited February 2024Travelled soloWritten 1 March 2024
- Jim WSindelfingen, Germany8,452 contributionsFrom The Mountain To The BeachMy wife and I continued our journey spending the rest of the day at Camp's Beach before heading back to our Bed & Breakfast. It was a lovely beach and the scenery looking back up to Table Mountain and out to sea took our breath away. It was simply a perfect day with lots of sunshine. What an amazing first day!Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 March 2024

Whoever wrote the review may have been to the beach but certainly never swam in the sea. Waem water indeed. As kids there were always several friends that were absent from school when the water reached a lovely temperature of 60 F The locals don't rate Camps Bay as a great beach, Clifton 1 & 4 are the choices.Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 16 April 2024

Lovely looking cafes on the road side and golden sand beach up to the water, with a back drop of table mountain... Stunning beauty.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 September 2024

From the moment we sat down, we were harassed by hawkers selling coldrinks, sunglasses, hats etc....so ruined any chance of relaxation.
As we got up to leave, a group of children invaded our personal space - and we immediately felt uneasy. Soon after we realised a pair of glasses (in sunglass case) were missing.

Camps Bay Beach does not disappoint! It is so beautiful. My husband I spent the day there and fully enjoyed it. There are many street vendors selling their art but we did not find any of them to be pushy at all. There are many restaurants to choose from and the area felt safe for us as tourists.

The silhouettes of the Twelve Apostles cliffs in the background make this beach one of the most instagrammed places on Earth.
If you want to go swimming or surfing, be prepared! The South Atlantic Ocean is cold, no matter the season.
The beach is with fine and white sand, separated from the road by majestic palm trees. The waves are strong and tall, as the beach is often windy.
There are lots of cozy terraces on the other side of the road, to enjoy a glass of wine at sunset.

The photo is not of Camp's Bay beach. Camps Bay is long and deep, with rocks either end, white sand, rarely with much seaweed. Lion's Head dominates to the north and the Twelve Apostles are at it's back. It gets extremely busy in summer, especially at weekends.

This beach makes you feel on holiday mode. The waves crashing, the sun shining, the soft sand, the bars and restaurants behind you. Last but not least, the 12 apostals standing proudly behind you, do you look at the sunset or the mountains which glow in the setting sun? Beautiful.

The beach at Camps bay is just 7 to 10 km southwest from downtown Capetown. It is well connected by public transport. My CiTi buses are frequent except on Sundays. Most visitors come and go by car. Especially during the weekend there can be a lot of traffic. I usually walked along the coast from Seepoint or Hout Bay.
The sandy beach is clean and relatively quiet. Restaurants, bars and cafés are on the other side of the coastal road. The surroundings are spectacular as the beach is at the foot of Table mountain and Lion's Head. The rocky outcrops of the Twelve Apostles are a bit further towards the south.
The Camps Bay area is relatively safe, as there are many (private) security services operating that seem quite effective.

The Blue and Red Hop on buses pass by this beach. For the last three days I have got off the bus to experience this incredible beach. I used this location to take a short walk along the beach and to have lunch at one of the great restaurants there.

We haven’t been to Camps Bay beach for a couple of years and we were shocked. Hassled by no less than 5 beggars as we tried to walk along the beach, followed by one who became aggressive and it was an uncomfortable and miserable experience. Couple that with large groups on the beach, loud, obnoxious and litter left behind by groups too lazy to throw it away sealed the fact that we will never come here again. I feel sorry for the restaurants who rely on visitors to camps bay but right now you won’t catch me here or in any of the restaurants until they clear this mess up

Camps Bay Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches, but the water is freezing cold. We were a big family group, with mostly young people between 11 and 28 years old. They were not impressed with the temperature of the water. It can also get very crowded in summer. I enjoyed the view of the mountain from the beach. There are a range of restaurants to choose from, right across the beach, but in summer it can get very crowded.

how much to rent a beach chair in Camps Bay

como e possível ir até a praia de Camp's Bay desde o centro de Cape Town?
Written 4 June 2018
Sorry, I just now read your question. Can‘t really say about the restaurant, since it all depends on what you like. We ate a lot of fish in a couple of Restaurants there, which was really good. Unfortunably I don‘t remember the namens.

Can anyone tell me how to get to Camp's Bay from the cruise terminal and how far away is it? We will be there on 6th and 7th February next year.
Written 18 October 2017
From the cruise terminal, you will be right in the V&A area. Basically, once you get onto Main Rd heading Southwest, you follow it through Seapoint, onto Victoria Rd and that will bright you right into Camp's Bay.

How much is the rental for a sunlounge and an umbrella? Thanks for your info, Thomas!
Written 10 February 2017
They ask up to R200 (around 15€) for two lounge chairs and the umbrella with cushions (dirty and spotted). During all 2016 prices were getting crazy expensive monthly due to the weak of Rand currency vs $ and €. Currently exchange is same of 2013 (1 € = 13,6 Rand) prices still increasing though. Watch out!!
Written 16 March 2017
Yes there are many chair and umbrella vendors. They will approach you as soon as you walk onto the beach. Prices vary from 4-6 Euro for a sun lounger and 6-8 Euros for an umbrella for the day.

Good day!
I heard that Camps Bay is great for Beach Volley Ball. Could someone please provide more information? Do you have to bring along your own net and ball or is it provided somewhere along the beach?
Many thanks,
Emmerentia
