Facinating church and history- 200 years worth- with wooden benches, organ of 150 years, stain glass windows. Thoroughly enjoyed it- could have even stayed longer.

For a traveller from Holland Sout-African churches are both strange and familiar. This regards nearly all of the NG churches, and Beaufort-West's is a excellent example of a monumental and severe complex.

The size is spectacular and is a land mark in Beaufort West town .The exterior of the church is painted in striking white and grey contrasts and is very well kept neat and tidy . The interior is typical of this period of time and is spectacular in it's design .

Passing through Graaf- Rienet you should stop and see the beautiful Dutch Reform church (Moeder Kerk). The contrasting brickwork is so beautiful. Even the brackets are pretty star shaped.
The Dutch Reformed church is the only church in South Africa and maybe the world to have both a kitchen and a chimney in it.
I was so happy to have been allowed to look inside as well.
If you like history and architecture. definitely worth a stop and visit

A typical Dutch Reformed church, complete with a steeple. There is nothing remarkable about this building, and similar ones can be seen in towns all over South Africa.

They don't build them like this anymore!! Exquisite stone-work!
Well maintained and forms the center-piece of attractions in this town

Like in most of the smaller towns in South Africa there is not much to explore in Beaufort West. The church is more than 100 years old and in good shape. It is on the main road, very close to the Christian Bernard Museum

This beautiful church seemed out of place in the dusty Karoo town in the middle of no where. Great architecture and well preserved.
