The Kings Tower is one of the best kept secrets at The Palace, and one of the finest places to see the sun rise over the Pilanesberg! We went up almost every day for either sunrise or sunset and never saw another soul up there... The views in every direction are truly breathtaking and it's a welcome space for a bit of relaxation and calm before heading out for a day at The Valley of the Waves.

On recommendation from Francois, the guest relations manager, we got a map of Sun City from the concierge and then went up to the view point to see Sun City in its totality. We could then reference all the points of interest to the map. The views are beautiful and worth the climb!

Wonderful, yes it’s a climb up a few steps but spectacular to see. It was free for us as staying in The Palace.

See the whole Sun City from above. Several stairs to climb but worth it. Use the righthand lift in the lift lobby to the left of the restaurant. The two other lifts stop one floor below – you will have another flight of stairs from there.

This isn't for the faint of heart or unfit. At the lifts lobby you'll see three lifts. Only the furthest right lift goes to the 9th floor. It's tricky waiting for that specific lift to arrive so an easier way to figure this out is by being on the first floor and spotting with the indicator on which floor the right lift is currently on. Go to that floor ( for instance if it were on 5th floor, go there) then hit the up button , the right lift should open. Or you can go to floor 8 with the any of the other lifts and climb to the top, but holy heck, it's a serious climb! Worth it once you get there though and if you're a fan of good views, you'll love this. Pack binoculars, snacks and a drink or two to enjoy the experience for a longer period. It doesn't have a closing time so you can visit it sunset, sunrise and even midnight.

Take the far right elevator to floor 9 and climb the steep stairs to the top. Good for the body and the soul. A must when visiting Sun City

This is truly a hidden gem of Sun City. It is not advertised anywhere that I have noticed. The lift only goes to the 8th floor. Take a walk around to the service stairs. Then up about three flights to the first landing. Then up the spiral stairs. Breathtaking 360 degree views.

Wow - the views from the top of the Kings Tower are breathtaking and well worth the visit - not for the faint hearted or those with a thing about heights as one of our members discovered. A bird’s perspective is what you get and is great for the photographers out there - 9 floors up and add the tower bit - one can encapsulate the surrounding Pilansberg Mountain range.

If visiting Sun City make sure you go to The Palace and take the elevator to the 9th floor. From here there are quite a few steps to climb but surely worth it as you get a 360 degrees view of the whole resort. Breathtaking!
