About
The Lost City Golf Course was designed by famed South African golfing figure, Gary Player. This spectacular par-72 course is a cart course, complete with a state-of-the-art clubhouse, and is a short stroll from The Palace of the Lost City. It features a water hazard of 20 live Nile crocodiles on the 13th hole and offers facilities such as a driving range, and a fully equipped golf Pro Shop.

Lovely little golf course, very playable…must have buggy! Some stunning holes, raised tees etc. a touch of water, very playable for higher handicaps.

Crocodiles, big on 13th hole!

Really enjoyed my round while my family was in the valley of waves. Joined a group of great blokes from South Africa for the round (I’m glad they had course knowledge). Beautiful course! I didn’t play well but I think that was me rather than the rented clubs (or distances in metres instead of yards). Would definitely play again here, next time I’m in Sun City.

The course itself is lovely. A little overgrown now, in that the reeds have sadly taken over some picturesque waterways and unmanaged bush growth has reduced the good views of the greens, in particular on some short holes. Our expensive experienced was spoiled by two punctures on very worn out tyres as well as three battery related breakdowns, five unpleasant experiences in one round... you simply can’t charge the rates you do and then only supply useless equipment.

Although buggies provided it was good to have a caddy who are most knowledgeable and would recommend having one. Very good course with some very interesting holes. Keep your eyes open! Lovely half way house.

Great golf course. But you must stay on the fairway as the rough is very difficult to get out!
Lots of birds and animals to see.

My personal opinion is that this is not the greatest layout and overall I feel that the experience could be better. We witnessed a huge argument between a player and the caddie master before the round even started which was not a pleasant start. Condition of the course was acceptable. I suppose for a foreigner it may be a worthwhile experience.

The lost city course does not always get the recognition it deserves. It’s a fun and challenging course that requires thought and execution not just bombing it down the fairway. The half way house is decent and provides a good quality light meal with a soft drink included.

This is not a walking course and carts are the only option. This may be a bit off putting to purists but it was a very enjoyable experience.

The course itself requires a thinking approach and tests your skill. Greens were fast but true and placed emphasis on having a good approach in to the pin.

The crocodile invested Par 3 is also a great novelty and adds to the character of the course.

Go on and play a round and after ward have a cold one at the club house with a great view of the course and the African bush in the background

Lost City Golf course has an amazing setting with many waste bunkers and a few gentle rolling hills. It is also set within the perimeter of Pilanesberg Game Reserve and sightings of elephant and other animals are not unusual. There is a par 3 where you have to hit over a crocodile pit. The crocs are enormous so do not try to retrieve a ball from there!
The greens are not as fast as Gary Player but remain challenging. Golf carts are obligatory and it is worthwhile taking a caddy at USD 20 per round as they are absolute shot savers.
