Still one of Kimberly's best hidden gems!!
Stunning old art pieces by some of the South African greats, very well preserved and also regular exhibitions by young and new artists.
They also host cultural events and they have a big +150 people amphitheater style available should you want to host an information session or event that requires a little more style

Our second visit to this magnificent museum. Managed by the most wonderful, caring and passionate staff, they were extremely welcoming and happy to see us and made our visit even more special. Unfortunately the fabulous tea room did not survive COVID ðŸ˜ðŸ˜, so no delicious tea and scones. Still an extensive and exciting art collection well laid out and a pleasure to visit. Please people visit this wonderful museum, they need our support! Unfortunately no photos inside, but some lovely art work outside. Come artists and art lovers you must visit!!!

I’m not an art lover - but this museum really appealed to me
I cannot comment on the artists but there are some gorgeous works

A large and very interesting collection of local art as well as some classic installations. There isn't even an admission charge if you'll purchase something at their tea room. Wonderful art, some of the best we've seen while traveling in the country.

Very good collection of art across all formats - both local and international artists. Just a pity the teashop closes for Decemaber.

It is simply shocking that I as an Art Historian have never visited this beautiful gallery before. What a pleasure to see a "local" art gallery in pristine condition; clean, well planned, and in terms of the collections, awesome. The art collections, while obviously very representative of a rich colonial past, also makes a serious point of being representative, not only of the culture mix of South Africa, but also of different types of art. Some very interesting copies of well known sculptures also generates excitement and a lovely link to European collections. Lovely museum restaurant and shop adds to the overall appeal. Well done, William Humphreys! You are a worthy tribute to Kimberley, and a must visit when you next travel this way.

Have been before. Very nice museumbut this visit was spoilt by dance group playing loud music and no effort by museum staff to ask them to turn down music. Which I think took away the normal calm atmosphere

We are sorry for this bad experience. During that time workshops on African Dancing were held in the Gallery. We have discussed the matter with the facilitator and he will in future be aware of the music's loudness. We hope that next time you will again be able to experience the calm and tranquil atmosphere you had the first time with us.

The art gallery can really be compared to the best in the world. There is constant exhibitions to attend, they have an amazing auditorium where people can watch noteworthy films for free and a coffee shop where you can sit and relax with good homemade food and sweets.
