Our second visit to this magnificent museum. Managed by the most wonderful, caring and passionate staff, they were extremely welcoming and happy to see us and made our visit even more special. Unfortunately the fabulous tea room did not survive COVID 😭😭, so no delicious tea and scones. Still an extensive and exciting art collection well laid out and a pleasure to visit. Please people visit this wonderful museum, they need our support! Unfortunately no photos inside, but some lovely art work outside. Come artists and art lovers you must visit!!!

A large and very interesting collection of local art as well as some classic installations. There isn't even an admission charge if you'll purchase something at their tea room. Wonderful art, some of the best we've seen while traveling in the country.

Decided to seek out another one of Kimberley's attractions - the William Humphrey Art Gallery.
Despite its central location in the city, I was struck by the peace a quiet of the gallery. It is a made up of a collection of large exhibitions rooms which draw one through the gallery. It was interesting exploring a few of the smaller exhibition rooms dotted around the gallery.
Fortunately I did not have to wade my way through endless rows of Dutch paintings, interesting though they can be, but was pleased by the diversity of art. There is a good representation of art by South African painters and sculptors.
Hidden in amongst these collections you will came across artists whose paintings fetch millions in the auction houses around the world. I spotted two Irma Stern paintings of women - captured in her distinctive bold style.
Ended my visit with lunch in the gallery's cafe garden. Gloriously sunny on a chilly winter's day.
Well worth a visit if you have the time to spare and need to chill out.

I have visited the William Humphreys Art Gallery on numerous occasions and still find it to be an amazing place (even if, like me, you know absolutely nothing about art). Their exhibits change often and they bring the most interesting art to anyone who dares to explore this treasure very close to the city centre. Entrance fees are insanely low (R5?!) and there's a fabulous coffee shop where one can enjoy a snack or even a meal in a peaceful garden setting. Definitely one of my favourite spots in Kimberley!

The most beautiful Art Gallery in South Africa with artwork from every well known artist. You do not need to be an art fundi to enjoy the artwork. There are artwork that you will never see in any other Art gallery in the world. It is shocking to find out that the minimum of people living in Kimberley have never been to the Art gallery or do not even know about it.
WHAG Restaurant
This beautiful impressive restaurant is not known amongst people in Kimberley.
The WHAG and the restaurant needs to get more exposure.
We support there art film and opera evenings.
Trust that you will put the WHAG first on your list before going to the Big Hole

Neither my father or I are generally "art gallery people" but we were amazed by this place. There is some amazing art work here, both the really old stuff that I tend to find quite dreary, but also lots of local artwork, pottery, some pieces that look like the have come from sci-fi movies and some work from the apartheid area. The place is really deceptive size wise as its huge!!! They also have a lovely restaurant area as well, where they do coffees, light lunches etc, situated in a nice garden area. They also had a film room and were showing a Joubert wildlife movie on the evening that we visited, so its quite diverse. The gentleman on reception when we arrived was really sweet and told us that it was free on Wednesdays, not sure if he was just joking or whether it is actually free every day, so we made a donation instead. Friends had recommended that this was a must see on our trip, and I would certainly agree with them.

One of the finest art galleries I have visited - it is magnificent - so clean and well maintained. Great art works - old and new - some for sale. They have Art Nouveau films there each week. I wish I could have spent more time there.
