We arrived and were a little overwhelmed by all the amazing bird life! 😅 A narina trogon was calling, 2 Livingstone’s turaco flew over, and a coral tree was alive with a treasure of little sunbirds!
Ian was up to the challenge though - he carefully, patiently, and passionately guided us through the most remarkable little forest adventure meeting all these remarkable local birds.

We’d recommend him to anyone, novice or pro, and will hopefully be able to get back again!

Ian is a deeply passionate and knowledgeable about the flora and fauna around St Lucia. He is a wonderful bird guide and put us onto many special birds and lifers. The route of our evening walk was cleverly thought out and we were fortunate to enjoy a spectacular sunset. We managed to see almost all the birds on our wish list. The vine snake, reed frogs and recent signs of leopard activity were also highlights. We will definitely be back and highly recommend anyone wanting to bird in the area to contact Ian.

Wow, awesome, professional, exciting, informative ……we spent a wonderful afternoon with Ian in St Lucia on a 2.5 hour forest walk during which he found and showed us all the species we were after and more! Highlights of the walk were his intuitive ability to find and show us Buff Spotted Flufftail, Grey Waxbill and Green Malkoha. Some other specials he showed us were Rudd’s Apalis, Woodward’s Batis, Dark Capped Weaver and Livingstones Turaco. We will definitely be back to spend more time birding with Ian!! Ian is incredibly knowledgable about the local trees, butterflies and history, so for a well rounded experience which is sure to deliver, it’s a must! André, Chérie and Ben Uys.

2 morning outings in biotopes a little different, but still an incredible skill. Ian knows all the songs, calls, calls of all species of birds (and pretty much everything else) that can be found in the area, he mimics their songs, he calls them and they answer him! I'm sure he knows them all by their names! Very good pictorial and sound documentation on the ground, list of birds observed transmitted during the day, the top what! Not to be missed, a must in Saint Lucia!

Three of us did a night walk, a forest walk and an estuary walk with Ian - and they were all excellent. I have birdwatched all over the world and experienced many guides and I have to say Ian is very near the top of the list - super-knowledgeable, great at call recognition and imitation, makes sure everyone has had the best chance to see what's there, and pitches his descriptions and detail just right. You're a gem, Ian.

Ian's a crack! The Bird Finder! We made a route with him to discover the habitat of one of the birds we wanted to see the most, the Livingstone turaco. With Ian we discovered the songs of several species that identified us instantly. It was an activity in the early hours of the morning, lasting about two hours and in which we saw about half a hundred birds in total, including chaos, martins, turacos... brutal.

We had a tremendous time birding with Ian. Once in the Forest and once to the Estuary.

He is so knowledgeable and is so eager to share what he knows.

I would highly recommend a trip with Ian next time you find yourself in St Lucia. We will be back.

We did the Igwalagwala bird walk with Ian, and cannot recommend this highly enough. Ian is friendly, relaxed, engaging and very knowledgeable. We added seven lifers to our list and thoroughly enjoyed the outing. Wish we had the opportunity to do the other St Lucia areas with Ian.

What an awesome experience. Our mixed group all learnt so much from Ian. The birders got to see a few "firsts" and the novices became hooked. If you visit St Lucia, this is a Must Do. You will not leave disappointed.

We can definitely recommend bird walks with Ian. We did both Estuary and Forest walks, which were excellent. Ian helped us identify species and also learn about habitat and other really interesting characteristics… he brought birding to life with his outstanding knowledge of birds and the bush. We will go back again! Thank you Ian 😃
