Outstanding Half Day Safari tour with driver Sandile and the “eagle eyed” Janu .
Prompt 5.00am pick up by the guys outside of our accommodation , we were very warmly welcomed and stepped inside the comfortable safari vehicle complete with blankets if you needed them. After an hours drive we entered Hlhuluwe-Imfolozi Safari Park and began our adventure

The scenery is stunning and it’s the second largest safari reservation in Africa. I liked the fact that the guides said from the off everyone is a spotter and just to shout if we think we see anything of interest

The driver and guides knowledge was brilliant explain both fauna and flora

On the way to our picnic breakfast ( which was super) we spotted gazelles, Kites, Eagles, water buffalo, bison, water hogs

Following a delicious breakfast including tea, coffee, fruit juices, water along with sandwiches, biscuit cakes , yogurts- we then headed further into the reservation and spotted elephants , white rhinos, giraffes, tortoise - the only thing to elude is was the Big Cats !

This was the best safari experience I have had and for 95% of the time we didn’t see another vehicle . The drive alone was worth 5 stars just for the countryside

Janu and Sandile are highly knowledgable and made the whole experience very personal

Brilliant value for money and highly recommend

In a three month holiday, where every day was spectacular, the day in the Umfolozi Park, with Senzo as our guide, was spectacular!
Within an hour of arriving in the Park, we had seen most of the animals, except for lions.
It became Senzo’s mission to find the lions! He did find the lions hidden away in a dry river bed, amongst the trees.
Our guide was very knowledgeable about the animals and shared it in a fun laid back way.
Some how he created a fun, cohesive and entertaining atmosphere for our diverse group.
I am a middle age woman , who found herself on a tour with a bunch of university students, but I cannot recall a better and more fun tour than the day we spent with Senzo in the Park. He knitted together a bunch of people where no one had English as their first language and turned it into a blast, regaling us with
stories about South African fauna, flora and culture.
Together we hunted lions with our cameras, BBQ and parted as friends 💕

My friends and I experienced a 4-day package with Heritage Tours in late December/early January. This professional organisation provided us with a great experience, with smooth transfers to and from St Lucia, and giving us the opportunity to see a variety of areas and wildlife close to St Lucia (e.g. the beautiful Imfolozi National Park), including elephants, giraffe, rhinos, zebra, impala, wildebeest, baboons, vultures and other birdlife. Zane, who was our guide on a couple of safaris, was amazingly knowledgeable about the environment, always happy to answer questions, and provided a great braai (BBQ). We stayed at the lovely Heritage House as part of the package (and I have posted a separate review on this). We thoroughly enjoyed our whole experience in St Lucia, including seeing a few hippos wandering around the streets at night. Great trip.

This was my second safari but the rest of my company's first so I was hoping for a great experience.

Firstly let's deal with this safari. Jason was a superb host and driver. Extremely knowledgeable about all animals and very likeable and personable. You shouldn't under estimate how important this is.

We saw buffalo and elephant from a distance within 10 minutes but it was Jason's keen eye that led us to our first very close up encounter with a bull elephant. He spotted one way off to our right and knew where it was going. He managed to position us right where it crossed the path and at the same time we had 2 rhinos on that path.

Lots of extremely close encounters with giraffes and rhinos and we got a glimpse of a sleeping male lion who unfortunately wasn't for playing.

All in all we saw lots of animals and definitely got our money's worth as the safari is a bargain

Now here's the but........but it's only a tip for people not sure what to do.

We travelled from Durban the day before to stay overnight at Elephant Lake Hotel (also highly recommended) and we were picked up and dropped off which is roughly an hour each way. We then headed home. If you are doing the same then take the car and either follow them to the gate or self drive to the gate which is extremely easy to find. This saves you driving all the way back to St Lucia, doing drop offs and then driving back out to the motorway again. Essentially it added more than 90 minutes to our homeward journey.

Just a tip for all and doesn't lose a star.

Right from the first moment we stepped through the door at Heritage Tours we knew we would have a great holiday (that is, once the receptionist got over the scepticism that our name really is ‘Holliday’)
We were given a detailed printout of our itinerary before being shown to our accommodation which was excellent.
Our first tour was the hippo and crocodile cruise which was late afternoon of the day we checked in. Off to a great start. The exciting boat trip was well conducted giving everyone a chance to get stunning photos.
The next tour was the Hluhluwe-Imfolozie safari at 5:00am the following morning. Our guide, Senzo, provided blankets and made sure we were all well wrapped up well against the early morning chill before setting off for the park gate. Keeping track of animal sightings via communications with other guides ensured we saw as much as possible.
Senzo was very knowledgable and has a passion for the park and animal welfare but also made sure to position our vehicle so all parties could get the best possible photographs. An excellent guide. Both breakfast and lunch were provided on this tour alongside soft drinks, tea and coffee.
The following morning, we were delighted to find that Senzo was our guide again, this time for the Cape Vidal and snorkelling tour. There were only three of us for this tour and Senzo was able to give us a more personal tour, even taking us on a short (but safe) walking tour to point out insect life alongside the fauna and flora. The highlight was the snorkelling which was amazing in the crystal clear water. An excellent lunch and refreshments were provided.
Sebo was our guide for the night tour and he, too, made sure that we saw as much as possible albeit that field of sight is limited. Sebo has amazing eyesight and even managed to see a chameleon (based of eye reflection) and allow us to look at it up close.
All in all, I have to say that this was a professionally handled package with our every need taken care of. I must say that people taking this package should ensure that they have additional cards for digital cameras and batteries fully charged.
We have enjoyed it so much that we have already book a return visit taking friends with us.

The service was amazing. Very friendly, and had a ton of knowledge. The weather wasn't great the day we went out, but he managed to make the most of the few sightings we did see. We were lucky to be the only couple in van that day(thanks covid!) so the conversation was very casual. Lunch braai was bigger than I thought(a good thing), I recommend if you not a big meat eater, like myself, just to let them know in advance.
Definitely coming back next season! Bringing the family next time!

i visited the reserve in st lucia with my school, and we all had the most amazing time going on a sunset drive and seeing all the animals, which were of a very wide and fascinating range. our guide was called sboniso gina, and was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable, so could answer our many questions! furthermore, when we got cold he had blankets at the ready to hand back so we could warm up, which was a nice touch. a very memorable trip, i would thoroughly recommend

Jason did a great job - he told stories about the animals’ lives and their lifestyles as we were driving over some of the most rugged roads and countryside in Southern Africa.

I had my two boys, my wife and two female friends that we’ve known most of our lives.

We all felt very comfortable and relaxed as Jason took charge of the Safari.

We stopped on a beautiful hilltop with 360° panoramic views as Jason prepared breakfast coffee and pastries.

We then proceeded to observe large herds of giraffe, water buffalo, rhinoceros, warthog, impala, monkeys, birds and elephants.

For lunch, Jason stopped on the river side and, as we looked for crocodiles, he prepared grilled steaks and sausage.

After, I took a nap on the riverside as Jason regaled the ladies with stories of his Ranger training and surviving in the African bush for a year with nothing but a pocket knife and his bare hands…

We would definitely return, perhaps during a different season for a different experience with the animals, to the park for another Safari.

If you do, make sure to ask for Jason the Ranger and you’ll experience an amazing Safari!

I could not be more satisfied with this adventure. The best aspect of this tour was definitely the guide - Senzo. He has enormous knowledge about animals and local culture, what's more he is very passionate about work he does. I wish everybody to have Senzo in charge of their's Safaris. His skills in the field were amazing. He kneew where to find animals, especially the "big five". I was very impressed that he found lions that are not so easy to see. Everything was well planned including breakfast and lunch. We were not in rush at all. That was very chillin' day when I really took rest and forgot about the surrounding world's problems. I recommend this Safari, especially with Senzo to everybody - families, group of friends or lone travellers. You will not be disappointed!

Very good service, they pick you Up in the morning at your hotel/Apartment and Drive with you to the park.
The Drive lasts around an our in the morning and you geht blankets against the cold morning Wind.
They try to Show you all the animals in the park. WE were Lucky and saw nearly all animals, lions, giraffs, rhinos, buffalos, elefants, ....
After some time you will get a small breakfast and Coffee and also some juce and water.

Our Guide Lindo was very good! He told us a lot about the animals we saw, was very polite and a good Driver. He tried everything that we could see all animals and the best Panorama Views over the park. I can only recommend in choosing Lindo!

The Price of ~60€ (1050 ZAR) for a half day Tour is vindicated. There is also a full day Tour with Lunch for around 1250 ZAR. But in my eyes there is no need for this Tour because half day is already very Long and in the noon hours of the day the animals are either way hiding or sleeping because of the Heat.

One little improvement proposal are the seats of the Car, they are Not that comfortable but its okay anyway.

Would book again!
