Themba’s unique approach to introducing local cultural dynamics and a hint of historical background was phenomenal. We also enjoyed a visit to experience a Zulu dance number in the nearby village in its authentic setting amongst other interesting cultural activities.

Thanks somuch for sharing. Zulus have always been living in harmony with nature; wildlife and birds in particular. Some ritual ceremonies which included dance and singing were performed in Kraals , river banks and Oceans with an attempt of conveying different messages to our ancestral spirits. Our Cultural tapestry is so vibrant dynamic and you will never have enough from it. Thanks for exploring my identity.

Themba greeted us at our hotel gate and parked his vehicle just a few yards away in a grassy area where we proceeded to see at least 15 new birds in the first 10 minutes. He cautioned us to not overlook the trees in urban spaces as they often yield results. We then took a rambling walk in the forest which was delightful. Even a brief shower did not dampen our spirits. We arrived home well educated about the birds of St Lucia and content with the many ‘new lifers’ we saw.

Our guide Themba has a complete knowledge of birds/ wildlife and is responsible through partner University departments for training the best new guides.
We were skilfully led through various habitats and saw all our favourite species.
Socially we shared breakfast and a bush braai along with trainee Adam.
We now know a lot more local history and customs thanks to a wonderful day out and Themba.

Themba was very good. Knew where to find different birds. He also know the Afrikaans names of the birds. He can also mimic the sound of the birds. Very good in spotting birds. Most of all very considered to my wife that found it difficult to walk long distances. Thank you Themba for a memorable day!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I m very happy that we managed to get Tannie Rita to her 300 birds and above. This is always refilling and rejuvenating one's heart during such times. As promised, I will always make sure and take of your birding experience and growth every time you come this side. All the best. Themba

One December morning, we embarked on a birding excursion with Themba, and within a span of approximately two hours, we were fortunate to observe an impressive array of around 40 bird species. Notable among them were two species of Turaco, and a Narina Trogon. To our delight, we also encountered the elusive Green Malkoha, a rare and remarkable sighting.
Themba's expertise in ornithology left a lasting impression on us. His in-depth knowledge of birds enhanced our experience, and we wholeheartedly recommend him to fellow enthusiasts.

Themba was our tour guide. He helped us find some really rare birds including the Livingstone turaco, Purple Crested turaco and even the extraordinary Woodwards Batis. He was patient, accommodating and extremely knowledgable. 10/10 recommend.

Themba was a brilliant guide for us and showed us so many species we’ve never seen before. He was engaging, amicable, professional and very patient. He was polite at all times and we saw so many species that would’ve been unlikely to see or recognise before. Really worthwhile to go with him and he has work class knowledge of the birds in the areas and over 770 birds in his life list. We think he’s under priced!

So humbled to have birded with so many amazing like minded folk, who are always willing to appreciate and support conservation of birds and their habitats by supporting local guides in South Africa. I know for sure, for most of us guides,it's more for the love of the game than any monetary value that birdwatching should bring, but surely without your dedicated interest, we will be unable to make the ends meet and our birdlife shrinking habitats will be far more, too worse if without your support to keep us going. Thanks once more again and looking forward to introducing you to much more of my wonderful diverse birdlife universe.
