South Post at Kruger was recommended by a colleague and it exceeded our expectations. Jess was extremely responsive to our initial inquiry and questions, which was very reassuring when traveling from so far away. She continued to be responsive with pre-arrival information and checking in on us when we were there.

For lodging, their location in Marloth Park is ideal because you are on the boarder of Kruger NP, and look out at the park across the river. The majority of other lodging we saw was situated on the interior of the Marloth Park, with no views beyond your surrounding area. We stayed in the cottage, which was perfect for the two of us (and even if you had a couple of children), but the other options looked great as well. The unit had everything we needed, and the deck/patio area with fire pit and BBQ, with it's view of the river and Kruger was a nice additional space to relax in. The animals do indeed pass right through the property, which was an added bonus, and there is a path just across the "road" that follows along the river, providing a nice place for a walk.

We also did multiple game drives with Steyn. It is a relatively short drive to the park entrance, and Steyn's experience was clear as he not only knew how to get us in quickly, he was very knowledgeable about the park, the animals, the environment, etc. His ability to drive, monitor the trees and landscape as well as animal tracks on the road at the same time was impressive. He had a great eye for spotting animals and we had amazing viewing experiences. We particularly appreciated his respect for the animals, the environment, and other visitors to the park.

This was our first safari experience and we are so glad we choose to do it with South Post at Kruger. We highly recommend them!

South Post is the best spot along Crocodile River, it just doesn't get any better! The cottage is perfect for a couple, is well equipped and very neat. We visit the park at least once a year and stayed several places, but since we've discovered Seekoei 3222 we keep going back there. It's right in the center of the so called Golden Mile of Marloth, so you sit on the stoep and watch the elephants bathing in the river. Jess and Steyn are not only good rangers but also take such lovely care of their guests. The place is serviced daily, so you can just relax and feed your soul with nature.

The lodge is in a great location. Accommodation is family friendly. Great sightings. Wonderful braai facilities but no oven. We used the cottage too so had access to a small gas oven. Rooms are functional. Great patio. Our only negative of Marloth park is the animal management…there is no grazing for animals at this time of year and it is clear they are stressed. We bought feed and fed every day but it’s not enough. More should be done by the managing community.

We did 2 half day safari's and a full day with Jess and they were all great experiences. She was knowledgable, punctual, got us some great sights of all the big 5 plus plenty more (including some Lionesses stalking some Warthog), helped us plan our non-safari activities and laughed at all our jokes, so not much more you can ask for! 100% would highly recommend! Thankyou Jess!

Within an hour of entering the park with Jesse, our professional guide, we had seen herds of elephants (mothers and their babies, or solitary huge males in must/heat), lazy lions with their playful cubs, elegant and curious giraffes, grumpy hippopotamus, sly looking hyenas, etc, etc.

Mind you, we were not there for the big five which we had seen a few days earlier! No, we had decided we did not need another photo of a sleeping lion...We had become safari snobs ;-)

What we wanted to see were feathered animals (although we truly did not mind seeing the big 5 again ;-)

Jess was tireless, enthusiastic, and very informative, and she always seemed to be in the right place at the right time. As we prefer to take photos in late afternoon, she made sure we had good angles, turning the safari car to have the sun in our back.

Her enthusiasm and knowledge as a guide made our game drive a memorable event. in a lifetime event. And we have great photos to testify , even though we shot them with a compact camera ( ake sure you shoot in RAW formate were glad we chose

Patience is the main key to great wildlife photos.

We chose this very affordable, private, open vehicle safari company on a friend's recommendation. We did not want to focus on the Big Five, which we had already seen, but on feathered animals.

We now have great shots of African hawk eagles, lilac breasted rollers, white backed vultures, African hooppoes, marabout storks, spectacled weavers, grey go away birds, Kori bustards, and a darling pearl spotted owlet! We are still in search of the elusive secretary bird!

All in all, we were delighted with our private safari with Jess, a most knowledgeable and dedicated guide who obviously loves her job and has a passion for the Kruger.

Truly a memorable experience, quite affordable, and loved the little touches like chocolates and candies
