Overview
More
HESC focuses on the conservation of rare, vulnerable or endangered animals. Cheetah Conservation is one of the core disciplines. HESC has established itself as one of the leading private research and breeding facilities for endangered species in the country. Governed by a progressive and modern management approach, it concerns itself with the breeding and maintenance of several endangered indigenous wildlife species in southern Africa. The centre places particular emphasis on the breeding and maintenance of cheetah in captivity. The excellent condition of these animals and the premises on which they are maintained, reflect the attention to detail, which is the hallmark of this facility. STANDARD TOUR The duration of each tour is 2 hours. Enables the visitor to have sufficient time to ask questions to the guide and do an in-depth tour of the centre. Please note that our first tour can include the cheetah run, however bookings are essential. Prior reservations are essential.

This place was unbelievable. Very well done and educational. Being in a truck and getting close to the cheetahs and rhinos was great. Learning about their work was even better. Great place to visit.

We were in the area with Spanish friends and their children. They were interested in seeing the cheetah breeding programme. The rehabilitation centre was a bonus. The facilities are immaculate. Our guide "Pepsi", a graduate student, was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We did the full tour...More

What an amasing experience in our own treehouse in the middle of the bush. Incredible spot for birding - spotted 54 different species in less than 48 hours, all from the comfort of our own varanda up in the tree. Enjoyed listening to the lions...More

This is possibly the best example of rehabilitation of endangered species I have ever seen. The staff are doing a wonderful job and should be congratulated on their work. Although the snimals are enclosed in caged confines they do not appear to be under any...More

We liked that place because we saw how well people care for the endangered species and you see some animals in a wild area which are hard to spot in the Krüger National Park

The best thing about this private reserve is the help they are giving the animals. I was so happy to see the two Rhinoceros had been saved after someone had poached them for their horns. They also had some wild dogs that were going to...More

Cottage stay was thoroughly enjoyable. Loved the view over Kampana reserve water holes (including the visiting lions), and the close viewing of the cheetahs at the Wildlife Centre. Enjoyed the well equipped cottage, cosy upstairs veranda. Cheetah tour of the Wildlife Centre was very informative.

I don't think you can stay at HESC...I visited with my kiddos and did not see any accommodations. You simply do a drive through their property and see the animals in their care.

I agree. The Cheetah Focus Tour is worthwhile, plus you'll also be able to see endangered vultures feeding.

Both are excellent. I would choose a game drive as it is a more authentic experience but if you want to see endangered king cheetahs, wild dogs and rare sable antelope up close then do the HESC tour - better still, do both!!
