Overview
More
HESC focuses on the conservation of rare, vulnerable or endangered animals. Cheetah Conservation is one of the core disciplines. HESC has established itself as one of the leading private research and breeding facilities for endangered species in the country. Governed by a progressive and modern management approach, it concerns itself with the breeding and maintenance of several endangered indigenous wildlife species in southern Africa. The centre places particular emphasis on the breeding and maintenance of cheetah in captivity. The excellent condition of these animals and the premises on which they are maintained, reflect the attention to detail, which is the hallmark of this facility. STANDARD TOUR The duration of each tour is 2 hours. Enables the visitor to have sufficient time to ask questions to the guide and do an in-depth tour of the centre. Please note that our first tour can include the cheetah run, however bookings are essential. Prior reservations are essential.

We liked that place because we saw how well people care for the endangered species and you see some animals in a wild area which are hard to spot in the Krüger National Park

The best thing about this private reserve is the help they are giving the animals. I was so happy to see the two Rhinoceros had been saved after someone had poached them for their horns. They also had some wild dogs that were going to...More

Cottage stay was thoroughly enjoyable. Loved the view over Kampana reserve water holes (including the visiting lions), and the close viewing of the cheetahs at the Wildlife Centre. Enjoyed the well equipped cottage, cosy upstairs veranda. Cheetah tour of the Wildlife Centre was very informative.

The extent of the conservation work being done at HESC is extensive - visitors here support this work in so many ways - better understanding, opportunity to ask questions. Pack a camera with a good lens, sunscreen and wear comfy clothes. We loved the tour...More

Good plae to visit and get updated on the situation with cheetahs, rhinos and others. Little bit expensive but good to know funds go to a needy cause.

Let's be clear. This is not a safari. This is rehab center, but with animals in zoo condition, not in open spaces. the price is high. The driving/guiding could be replaced with an audio tape with nothing to lose. Of course, if you want to...More

We were lucky enough to stay at one of the centres cottages located within the park, the cottage "Kulas Cottage" was very well laid out with its own access gate right next to a Cheetah enclosure. The interior of the cottage is very basic and...More

We stayed in Khulna cottage at the centre, it is a lovely experience and such a great place. You do need to be prepared for a lot of night time noises and very limited electricity, but well worth the experience. Hearing the different animals at...More

I don't think you can stay at HESC...I visited with my kiddos and did not see any accommodations. You simply do a drive through their property and see the animals in their care.

I agree. The Cheetah Focus Tour is worthwhile, plus you'll also be able to see endangered vultures feeding.

Both are excellent. I would choose a game drive as it is a more authentic experience but if you want to see endangered king cheetahs, wild dogs and rare sable antelope up close then do the HESC tour - better still, do both!!
