Very convenient easy access to this beach directly infront of several blocks of apartments in Ballito.
Only problem is that whilst we were there, there were many many people allowed to drink alcohol on this beach. They often left the beer bottles and other rubbish on the beach towards the end of the day.
The lifesavers do a great job.

A clean beach that is not crowded - although admittedly we were mid week and out of season. But limited parking and long walks from parking areas will ensure that is is mainly holiday residents in the establishments along the beach that will compromise the most part of the beach goers. Obviously depends on tidal conditions, but a safe beach with limited side and back wash for the wary swimmers. There are refreshment establishments where basic goodies can be bought.

Willard Beach is probably only one of very few KZN North Coast beaches that is kept in pristine condition, thanks mostly to the Ballito municipality and UP service that ensure it generally stays well maintained and safe. Parking in peak season is always a little more difficult and will result in a walk, armed with all your beach paraphernalia, but well worth the effort. They do have ablution facilities (not fabulous but bearable), life guards on the beach and security guards on the walkways and thoroughfares. Hawkers sell their beach ware either near the parking or close to the beach so anything forgotten can be bought on the way down to the beach.
It is frequented by surfers, sun-worshipers and fishermen alike and is normally busy over most summer weekends and even more hectic over the summer school holidays.
A short walk north and you will find a delightful tidal pool hidden in the rocks and a short walk south will find you in a rocky bay filled with more gentle surf for tots & toddlers aptly called Grannies pool.
There is a well maintained and well lit promenade that stretches the entire length from Willard beach all the way down south to the commercial area of lower Ballito, and also dotted with many benches at strategic points where you can sit and ponder the view. The promenade is used by walkers, joggers, skateboarders, cyclists, babies in prams and even the odd wheelchair bound has easy access in most sections too.
Most definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

The beach is well maintained and very clean, it is normally quite except during festive season & Easter weekend, there is toilet facility and showers for those who want to shower, the parking is limited but you can park a distance away from the beach and take a walk to the beach, life guards are always looking after the swimmers, the beach is ideal for surfers.

I really loved walking and experiencing this stretch of sand with its oddly shaped rock formations during low tide. Please...put a fishing line receptacle on this beach as many people leave line lying around.

My friend and I were very fortunate to have found a parking since it was on a Monday afternoon. We didn't bring our bathing suit to go swimming but was able to relax regardless and watched surfers take on a few waves. We also walked down a bit and was able to go wading in a STUNNING tidal pool hidden by the rocks! I wouldn't recommend this beach during the busy time since I have no idea where you can park otherwise. The public bathroom also left a lot to be desired.

This beach is easily accessible, but parking is a problem over weekends, holidays and on event days. The beach is well kept and offers long walks to the north. Good swim under watchful eyes of local surf club.

I am a single female and very privileged to be living on the North Coast of Kwazulu Natal. I have a coastline of beautiful safe clean beaches on my doorstep.
Willard Beach is one and is a 5m walk from my apartment. It has a parking lot, lifeguards, toilets and a promenade that I walk on at least 3 times a week mostly mornings. There is always other people walking and vigilant security on the promenade. A shout out to Ballito Up a local company that keeps the promenade maintained. There is amble benches for people to sit and view the beach. Bins and packets are available along the beach which are used. Local traders sell their beach items so if you dont have a towel or hat you could purchase one. Their is a small takeaway which only opens during summer and certain school holiday. The beach is surrounded by restaurants and holiday accommodation for visitors wanting to wake up with the ocean in front of them.
The beach has rocks but has a lot of swimming areas and little natural bays/areas to swim without rocks.
This time of the year is beautiful in Kwazula Natal it's still very warm. The sunrises are beautiful.
Sometimes you lucky and will see dolphins which is a treat.
It is surfers paradise and Willard Beach comes alive in July with local, national and international surfers showing their skills at the annual Ballito surfing competition.
Ongoing surfing lessons are offered to the community.
If you have not visited Willard Beach or any of the beaches on the North Coast do so they are in my opinion better than most international beaches that us South Africans spend a fortune to travel too.
If you on Willard Beach kindly look out for me and say hello.

We were very happy to come across Willard beach on our holiday to Ballito. At low tide it is awesome to swim...even for the little ones. There are proactive lifeguards, and good amenities. The toilets were clean and serviced and there is an awesome little cafe up the walkway selling the best soft serve ice-creams you will ever taste! There are umbrellas to hire as well as boogie boards and chairs at much better rates than the other beaches. The sea was clean, clear and so warm. Super place...
